5 BETRIEB
5.1 ALLGEMEINES
Der Motor darf nicht gestartet werden, bevor alle unter 
“MONTAGE” beschriebenen Maßnahmen durchgeführt 
worden sind. 
Die Schneefräse nicht anwenden, ohne zuvor die 
beigefügte Gebrauchsanweisung sowie alle Warn- 
und Instruktionsschilder am Gerät gelesen und 
verstanden zu haben. 
Bei Betrieb und Wartung ist immer eine 
Schutzbrille oder ein Visier zu tragen.
5.2 VOR DEM ANLASSEN
Vor dem Starten Öl einfüllen.
Den Motor nicht starten, bevor Öl eingefüllt 
worden ist. Andernfalls können schwere 
Motorschäden entstehen.
1.  Die Schneefräse auf eine ebene Unterlage stellen.
2.  Ölmessstab (1:L) lösen und den Ölstand ablesen.
3. Der Ölstand muss zwischen “ADD” und “FULL” liegen. 
Siehe Abbildung 7. 
4. Bei Bedarf Öl bis zur Markierung “FULL nachfüllen. 
5.  Öl guter Qualität verwenden, gekennzeichnet A.P.I. 
Service “SF”, “SG” oder “SH”. 
Öl der Qualität SAE 5W30 verwenden. Bei 
Temperaturen unter -18° C SAE 10W30 verwenden. 
Kein Öl der Qualität SAE 10W40 verwenden.
5.3 DEN BENZINTANK FÜLLEN
Immer reines bleifreies Benzin tanken. Zweitaktbenzin mit 
Ölbeimischung darf nicht verwendet werden.
Bitte beachten! Bitte beachten, dass normales bleifreies 
Benzin eine Frischware ist. Nicht mehr kaufen, als innerhalb 
von 30 Tagen verbraucht wird.
Auch umweltfreundliches Benzin, sog. Alkylatbenzin, ist 
bestens geeignet. Dieser Kraftstoff ist so zusammengesetzt, 
dass er für Menschen und Tiere weniger schädlich ist.
Benzin ist sehr feuergefährlich. Der Kraftstoff ist 
ausschließlich in speziell für diesen Zweck 
hergestellten Kanistern aufzubewahren. 
Benzin in kühlen, gut belüfteten Räumen 
aufbewahren - nicht in der Wohnung. Für Kinder 
unerreichbar aufbewahren.
Benzin darf nur im Freien aufgefüllt werden, 
Rauchen ist dabei zu unterlassen. Den Kraftstoff 
vor dem Anlassen des Motors einfüllen. Den 
Tankdeckel niemals öffnen oder Benzin auffüllen, 
wenn der Motor läuft oder noch warm ist.
Den Benzintank nicht bis zum Rand füllen. Nach dem 
Auftanken den Tankdeckel fest aufschrauben und eventuell 
vergossenes Benzin aufwischen. 
5.4 STARTEN DES MOTORS (OHNE 
ELEKTROSTART)
1.  Sicherstellen, dass die Kupplungshebel für Antrieb und 
Schneeschraube freigekuppelt sind (1:A), (1:C).2. Den Zündschlüssel in das Schlüsselloch stecken. Er soll 
einrasten. Den Schlüssel nicht drehen.
3. Den Choke in die Position   drehen. 
Anm.: Ein warmer Motor braucht keinen Choke.
4. Die Gummiblase (1:E) zwei- bis dreimal eindrücken. Das 
Loch soll beim Eindrücken der Blase zugedeckt sein. 
Anm.: Diese Funktion nicht bei warmem Motor 
anwenden.
5. Den Starthandgriff langsam herausziehen, bis ein 
Widerstand spürbar wird. Dann den Motor mit einem 
starken Zug anlassen.
6. Wenn der Motor läuft, den Choke gegen den 
Uhrzeigersinn drehen, bis die Chokeklappe ganz geöffnet 
ist.
Den Motor niemals in geschlossenen Räumen 
laufen lassen. Die Abgase enthalten 
Kohlenmonoxid, ein lebensgefährliches Gas.
5.5 STARTEN DES MOTORS (MIT 
ELEKTROSTART)
1.  Verbinden Sie das Anschlusskabel am Motor mit einem 
geerdeten Verlängerungskabel. Das Kabel an eine 
geerdete 220/230 Volt Schutzkonstaktsteckdose 
anschließen.
2.  Sicherstellen, dass die Kupplungshebel für Antrieb und 
Schneeschraube freigekuppelt sind (1:A), (1:C).
3. Den Zündschlüssel in das Schlüsselloch stecken. Er soll 
einrasten. Den Schlüssel nicht drehen.
4.  Den Choke in die Position   drehen. 
Anm.: Ein warmer Motor braucht keinen Choke.
5.  Die Gummiblase (1:E) zwei- bis dreimal eindrücken. Das 
Loch soll beim Eindrücken der Blase zugedeckt sein. 
Anm.: Diese Funktion nicht bei warmem Motor 
anwenden.
6. Den Motor starten:
A. Den Startknopf drücken, um den Startmotor zu 
aktivieren. 
B. Wenn der Motor startet, den Startknopf loslassen und 
die Chokeklappe öffnen - dazu den Choke langsam gegen 
den Uhrzeigersinn auf   drehen.
C. Wenn der Motor unrund läuft, die Chokeklappe sofort 
schließen und danach wieder langsam öffnen.
D. Zuerst den Stecker des Verlängerungskabels aus der 
Steckdose ziehen. Dann das Verlängerungskabel vom 
Motor trennen.
Anm.: Der elektrische Startmotor ist gegen Überlastung 
geschützt. Wenn er zu warm wird, stoppt er automatisch. 
Ein Neutstart kann erst nach Abkühlen des Startmotors 
erfolgen, dies dauert in der Regel 5 – 10 Minuten.
7.  Wenn der Motor läuft, den Choke gegen den 
Uhrzeigersinn drehen, bis die Chokeklappe ganz geöffnet 
ist. 
Den Motor niemals in geschlossenen Räumen 
laufen lassen. Die Abgase enthalten 
Kohlenmonoxid, ein lebensgefährliches Gas.
5.6 SICHERHEITSTEST
Diese Maschine ist mit mehreren mechanischen 
Sicherheitsausrüstungen zum Schutz des Bedieners beim 
Betrieb der Maschine ausgestattet.

Nach dem Start  und vor dem Einsatz der Maschine muss 
folgender Sicherheitstest durchgeführt werden.
Wenn die Maschine nicht wie unten beschrieben reagiert, 
darf sie NICHT in Betrieb genommen werden. In diesem 
Fall nehmen Sie bitte Kontakt mit einer autorisierten 
Servicewerkstatt auf, um die Maschine reparieren zu lassen.
Schneefräse
1. Der Motor muss laufen.
2. Den Schneefräsenhebel herunterdrücken, die 
Schneefräse muss sich dann drehen.
3. Den Hebel loslassen, die Schneefräse muss dann 
innerhalb von 5 Sekunden stoppen.
Fahrtest
1. Der Motor muss laufen und der erste Gang eingelegt, 
bzw. der Geschwindigkeitsregler auf niedrige 
Geschwindigkeit eingestellt sein.
2. Den Kupplungsgriff des Antriebs herunterdrücken, die 
Maschine muss sich dann in Bewegung setzen.
3. Den Kupplungsgriff des Antriebs loslassen, die Maschine 
muss dann stoppen.
5.7 STOPP
1.  Beide Kupplungshandgriffe loslassen. Anm.: Wenn die 
Schneeschraube weiter rotiert, siehe Abschnitt 
“EINSTELLUNG DER SEILZÜGE” weiter unten.
2. Den Zündschlüssel abziehen. Den Schlüssel nicht 
drehen.
Wenn die Maschine Gerät unbeaufsichtigt stehen 
gelassen wird, den Motor abstellen und den 
Zündschlüssel entfernen. 
5.8 INBETRIEBNAHME
1.  Den Motor wie oben beschrieben starten. Den Motor ein 
paar Minuten warm laufen lassen, bevor er belastet wird.
2.  Den Ablenker des Auswurfs einstellen.
3.  An der Einstellkurbel drehen und den Auswurf so 
einstellen, dass der Schnee in Windrichtung ausgeworfen 
wird.
4.  Mit dem Schalthebel einen angemessenen Gang 
einlegen. 
Der Schalthebel darf nicht bewegt werden, wenn 
der Kupplungshandgriff für den Antrieb 
eingedrückt ist.
5.  Den Kupplungshandgriff für die Schneeschraube 
herunterdrücken (1:A), um Schneeschraube und 
Auswurfgebläse zu aktivieren.
Die rotierende Schneeschraube ist gefährlich. 
Hände, Füße, Haare und lose sitzende Kleidung 
von rotierenden Teilen fernhalten.
6.  Den Kupplungshandgriff für den Antrieb 
herunterdrücken (1:C). Die Schneefräse fährt nun je nach 
eingelegtem Gang vorwärts oder rückwärts.
5.9 FAHRTIPPS
Der Schalldämpfer und die naheliegenden Teile 
werden beim Betrieb sehr warm. 
Verbrennungsgefahr! 
1.  Die Geschwindigkeit immer an die Schneeverhältnisse 
anpassen. Die Geschwindigkeit mit dem Schalthebel, 
nicht mit dem Gashebel regeln.2.  Der Schnee wird am besten direkt nach dem Schneefall 
geräumt.
3.  Wenn möglich, den Schnee immer in Windrichtung 
auswerfen.
4.  Die Stützkufen mit den Schrauben (5:T) je nach 
Untergrund einstellen: 
- auf ebenem Untergrund, z. B. Asphalt, sollen die Kufen 
ca. 3 mm unter dem Räumschild liegen.
- auf unebener Unterlage, z. B. Kieswegen, sollen die 
Kufen ca. 30 mm unter dem Räumschild liegen.
Die Stützkufen immer so einstellen, dass weder 
Kies noch Steine in die Fräse gelangen können. Es 
besteht Verletzungsgefahr, wenn diese mit hoher 
Geschwindigkeit herausgeschleudert werden. 
Die Stützkufen sollten auf beiden Seiten immer gleich 
eingestellt sein.
5.  Die Geschwindigkeit so wählen, dass der Schnee 
gleichmäßig ausgeworfen wird.
Wenn der Auswurf durch Schnee verstopft wird 
vor dem Reinigen, immer zuerst: 
- beide Kupplungshandgriffe loslassen 
- den Motor abstellen 
- den Zündschlüssel herausziehen 
- nicht mit der Hand in den Auswurf reinigen. Das 
im Lieferumfang enthaltene Reinigungswerkzeug 
verwenden.
5.10 NACH DER ANWENDUNG
1.  Die Schneefräse auf lose oder beschädigte Teile 
kontrollieren. Bei Bedarf beschädigte Teile auswechseln.
2.  Lockere Schrauben und Muttern anziehen.
3.  Den Schnee gründlich abbürsten.
4.  Alle Hebel einige Male vor- und zurückschieben.
5.  Den Choke in die Position   stellen. 
Die Schneefräse nicht abdecken, solange Motor 
und Schalldämpfer noch warm sind.

6 WARTUNG
6.1 ÖLWECHSEL
Das Öl zum ersten Mal nach 2 Betriebsstunden wechseln, 
dann alle 25 Betriebsstunden oder mindestens einmal pro 
Saison. Den Ölwechsel vornehmen, solange der Motor warm 
ist.
Das Motoröl kann sehr heiß sein, wenn es direkt 
nach der Benutzung der Maschine abgelassen 
wird. Daher den Motor vor dem Ablassen des Öls 
einige Minuten abkühlen lassen.
1.  Die Schneefräse etwas nach rechts neigen, so dass die 
Ölablassschraube der niedrigste Punkt des Motors ist.
2. Die Ölablassschraube herausdrehen.
3.  Das Öl in ein Gefäß fließen lassen.
4.  Die Ablassschraube wieder eindrehen.
5.  Neues Öl einfüllen. Angaben über die Ölsorte finden Sie 
im Abschnitt “VOR DEM START”.
Ölmenge im Kurbelgehäuse:
 0,8 Liter.
6.2 ZÜNDKERZE
Die Zündkerze einmal pro Jahr oder alle 100 Betriebsstunden 
kontrollieren.
Wenn die Elektroden verbrannt sind, die Zündkerze reinigen 
oder austauschen. Der Motorhersteller empfiehlt: Champion 
RC12YC.
Korrekter Elektrodenabstand: 0,7-0,8 mm. 
6.3 VERGASER
Der Vergaser ist ab Werk korrekt eingestellt. Wenn eine 
Justierung erforderlich ist, bitte an eine autorisierte 
Servicewerkstatt wenden. 
7 SCHMIERUNG
Vor allen Servicemaßnahmen immer: 
- den Motor abstellen 
- den Zündschlüssel abziehen 
- das Zündkerzenkabel von der Zündkerze 
abziehen.
Wenn die Gebrauchsanweisung vorschreibt, dass die 
Schneefräse nach vorn auf das Räumschild aufgestellt 
werden soll, muss der Benzintank vorher geleert werden.
Den Benzintank im Freien leeren, wenn der Motor 
kalt ist. Nicht rauchen. In einen für Benzin 
vorgesehenen Behälter leeren.
7.1 AUSWURF
Den Flansch des Auswurfs und den Schneckenantrieb der 
Einstellkurbel alle 5 Betriebsstunden oder vor der 
Langzeitaufbewahrung schmieren. 
7.2 SCHNECKENGETRIEBE
Das Schneckengetriebe ist ab Werk mit Spezialfett gefüllt. 
Normalerweise ist kein Auffüllen nötig.
Den Stopfen einmal pro Jahr lösen und kontrollieren, ob das 
Schneckengetriebe Fett enthält (6:U).Wenn das Schneckengetriebe undicht ist oder repariert 
worden ist, muss neues Fett eingefüllt werden. Das 
Schneckengetriebe darf maximal 92 Gramm Fett enthalten.
Shell Darina 1, Texaco Thermatex EP1, Mobiltem 78, 
Benalene # 372 Grease oder ähnliches Fett verwenden. 
8 SERVICE UND REPARATUREN
Vor allen Servicemaßnahmen immer: 
- Motor abstellen 
- Zündschlüssel abziehen 
Wenn die Gebrauchsanweisung vorschreibt, dass die 
Schneefräse nach vorn auf das Räumschild aufgestellt 
werden soll, muss der Benzintank vorher geleert werden.
Den Benzintank im Freien leeren, wenn der Motor 
kalt ist. Nicht rauchen. In einen für Benzin 
vorgesehenen Behälter leeren.
8.1 EINSTELLUNG DER SCHABKANTE
Nach längerer Anwendung nutzt sich die Schabkante ab.
Die Schabkante (immer zusammen mit den Stützkufen) so 
einstellen, dass der richtige Abstand zwischen Schabkante 
und Unterlage erzielt wird. 
Die Schabkante ist wendbar und kann von beiden Seiten 
abgenutzt werden. 
8.2 ALLGEMEINE INFORMATIONEN ZU 
KEILRIEMEN
Die Keilriemen sind einmal pro Saison zu kontrollieren und 
zu justieren sowie bei Bedarf zu ersetzen. Diese Arbeiten 
sind von einer autorisierten Servicewerkstatt auszuführen.
8.3 EINSTELLEN DES ANTRIEBSDRAHTS
Siehe Abb. 8.
1.  Ziehen Sie das Zündkabel von der Zündkerze ab.
2. Entfernen Sie die Abdeckung von der Einstellplatte.
3. Montieren Sie die Seilzüge so, dass sie straff gespannt 
sind.
4. Bringen Sie die Abdeckung wieder an.
8.4 EINSTELLEN DES SCHNECKENDRAHTS
1.  Die Mutter (9:X) lösen.
2. Das Gewindeteil (9:Y) in die Hülse (9:Z) drehen, bis kein 
Spiel mehr vorhanden ist.
3.  Die Mutter (9:X) anziehen.
8.5 AUSTAUSCH DER BRECHBOLZEN
Die Schneeschrauben sind mit Spezialbolzen an der Achse 
befestigt (6:V), die so konstruiert sind, dass die brechen, 
wenn etwas im Räumschild hängenbleibt.
Immer Original Brechbolzen verwenden! Andere 
Bolzentypen können die Schneefräse stark 
beschädigen.
1. Motor ausstellen.
2.  Das Zündkerzenkabel abziehen.
3.  Abwarten, bis alle rotierenden Teile zum Stillstand 
gekommen sind.
4.  Alle Fremdkörper, die in der Schneeschraube 
hängengeblieben sind, entfernen.
5.  Die Schneeschraubenachse schmieren (siehe oben).

6.  Die Aussparungen in der Achse und der Schneeschraube 
aufeinander ausrichten.
7. Die Teile des gebrochenen Bolzens entfernen.
8.  Den neuen Originalbolzen zusammenbauen.
9 AUFBEWAHRUNG
Die Schneefräse niemals mit Kraftstoff im Tank in 
einem geschlossenen Raum mit schlechter 
Belüftung aufbewahren. Es können sich 
Benzingase bilden, die in Verbindung mit offenem 
Feuer, Funken, brennenden Zigaretten o. ä. 
Brandgefahr bedeuten.
Wenn die Schneefräse länger als 30 Tage unbenutzt 
aufbewahrt werden soll, wird empfohlen:
1. Benzintank entleeren.
2.  Motor starten und laufenlassen, bis er aufgrund von 
Benzinmangel stehenbleibt.
Benzintank und Vergaser im Freien leeren, wenn 
der Motor kalt ist. Nicht rauchen. In einen für 
Benzin vorgesehenen Behälter leeren.
3.  Motoröl wechseln, wenn dies nicht in den letzten drei 
Monaten erfolgt ist.
4.  Zündkerze herausdrehen und etwas Motoröl in die 
Öffnung geben (ca. 30 ml). Den Motor einige 
Umdrehungen drehen. Zündkerze wieder eindrehen.
5.  Die gesamte Schneefräse gründlich reinigen.
6.  Alle Schmierpunkte wie unter “SCHMIEREN” 
beschrieben schmieren.
7.  Die Schneefräse auf Beschädigungen untersuchen. Bei 
Bedarf Schäden reparieren.
8.  Evtl. Lackschäden ausbessern.
9.  Nackte Metallflächen mit Rostschutzmittel behandeln.
10. Die Schneefräse nach Möglichkeit im Haus 
aufbewahren. 
10 WENN TEILE DEFEKT SIND
Autorisierte Servicewerkstätten führen Reparaturen und 
Service aus. Sie verwenden Originalersatzteile.
Machen Sie einfachere Reparaturen selbst? Verwenden Sie 
dann ausschließlich Originalersatzteile. Sie passen immer 
und erleichtern die Arbeit. 
Ersatzteile erhalten Sie bei Ihrem Fachhändler oder bei 
Servicewerkstätten.
Bei der Bestellung: Geben Sie die Modellbezeichnung, das 
Kaufjahr sowie die Modell- und Typennummer des Motors 
an.
11 VERKAUFSBEDINGUNGEN
Es wird eine umfassende Garantie auf Material- und 
Fabrikationsfehler eingeräumt. Käufer und Anwender 
müssen die Hinweise in der beigefügten 
Bedienungsanleitung genau beachten.
Die Garantie deckt keine Schäden bei:
- Nichtbeachtung der mitgelieferten Bedienungsanleitung
- Unachtsamkeit
- falsche oder unzulässige Nutzung oder Montage
- Anwendung von Ersatzteilen, die keine 
Originalersatzteile sind
- Anwendung von Zubehör, das nicht von Stiga stammt 
oder von Stiga zugelassen ist
Die Garantie erstreckt sich ebenfalls nicht auf:
- Verschleißteile wie beispielsweise Antriebsriemen, 
Frässchnecken, Scheinwerfer, Reifen, Sicherheitsbolzen 
und Seilzüge
- normalen Verschleiß
- Motoren Für diese gelten die Garantiebedingungen der 
jeweiligen Hersteller.
Es gelten die im Land des Käufers gültigen gesetzlichen 
Vorschriften. Die darin geregelten Rechte des Käufers

2 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
2.1 GENERAL
 Please read through these instructions carefully. Learn all 
the controls and the correct use of the machine.
 Never allow children or anyone who is not familiar with 
these instructions to use the snow thrower. Local 
regulations may impose restrictions as regards the age of 
the driver. Never use the machine if others, particularly children or 
animals, are in the vicinity. 
 Remember that the driver is responsible for accidents that 
happen to other people or their property.
 Be careful not to trip or fall, especially when reversing 
the machine.
 Never use the snow thrower under the influence of 
alcohol or medication and if you are tired or ill.
2.2 PREPARATIONS
 Check the area to be cleared and remove any loose or 
foreign objects.
 Disengage all controls before starting the engine.
 Never use the snow thrower unless properly dressed. 
Wear footwear that improves your grip on a slippery 
surface.
 Warning – Petrol is highly inflammable. 
a. Always store petrol in containers that are made 
especially for this purpose.
b. Only fill or top up with petrol outdoors, and never 
smoke when filling or topping up.
c. Fill with petrol before starting the engine. Never 
remove the filler cap or fill with petrol while the engine 
is running or still warm.
d. Screw the filler cap on tightly and wipe up any spilt 
petrol.
 Adjust the height of the auger housing to ensure it stays 
above gravel paths.
 Never, under any circumstances, make adjustments while 
the engine is running (unless otherwise specified in the 
instructions).
 Allow the snow thrower to adjust to the outdoor 
temperature before using it.
 Always use protective goggles or a visor during use, 
maintenance and service. 
2.3 OPERATION
 Keep hands and feet away from rotating parts. Always 
avoid the discharge chute opening.
 The snow thrower must never be used to remove anything 
but snow
 Be careful when driving on or crossing gravel paths, 
pavements and roads. Be aware of hidden dangers and 
traffic.
 Never direct the discharge chute towards a public road or 
traffic.
 If the snow thrower hits a foreign object, stop the engine, 
disconnect the spark plug cable and carefully inspect the 
machine for damage. Repair the damage before using the 
machine again.
 If the machine starts vibrating abnormally, stop the 
engine and look for the cause. Vibration is normally a 
sign of something wrong.
 Stop the engine and disconnect the spark plug cable: 
a. If the machine steers away from the driving position. 
b. If the auger housing or discharge chute is blocked and 
must be cleaned. 
c. Before beginning repairs or adjustments.
 Always make sure the rotating parts have stopped and all 
the controls are disengaged before cleaning, repairing or 
inspection.

 Before leaving the machine unattended, disengage all the 
controls, put it into neutral gear, stop the engine and 
remove the ignition key. 
 Never run the engine indoors except when taking it in and 
out of its place of storage. In this case ensure the door to 
the storage place is open. Exhaust fumes are toxic. 
 Never drive across a slope. Move from the top down, and 
from the bottom to the top. Be careful when changing 
direction on a slope. Avoid steep slopes.
 Never operate the machine with insufficient protection or 
without the safety devices in place.
 Existing safety devices must not be disconnected or 
disengaged.
 Do not alter the engine’s regulator setting and do not race 
the engine. The possibility of personal injury increases 
when the engine is run at high revs.
 Never use the snow thrower near enclosures, cars, 
windowpanes, slopes etc. without properly setting the 
discharge chute deflector. 
 Always keep children away from areas to be cleared. Get 
another adult to keep the children under supervision.
 Do not overload the machine by driving it too fast.
 Take care when reversing. Look behind you before and 
during reversing to check for any obstacles.
 Never point the discharge chute towards bystanders. Do 
not allow anyone to stand in front of the machine. 
 Disengage the auger when the snow thrower is to be 
transported or is not in use Do not drive too fast on 
slippery surfaces when transporting.
 Only use accessories that are approved by the machine’s 
manufacturer.
 Never drive the snow thrower in bad visibility or without 
satisfactory lighting.
 Always ensure you have a good balance and a tight grip 
on the handle. 
 Never use the snow thrower on a roof.
 Do not touch engine components because they are warm 
during use. Risk of burn injuries.
2.4 MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE
 Tighten all nuts and screws so that the machine is in safe 
working condition. Check the shear bolts regularly.
 Always use genuine spare parts. Non-genuine spare parts 
can entail a risk of injury, even if they fit the machine.
 Never store the machine with petrol in the tank in 
buildings where the fumes can come into contact with 
open flames or sparks.
 Allow the engine to cool before putting the machine in 
store.
 Before a long storage, check the instructions for 
recommendations.
 Replace damaged warning and instruction stickers.
 Let the engine run a couple of minutes with the auger 
connected after use. This prevents the auger from 
freezing solid.
3 ASSEMBLY
Note: Instructions to the left and right sides start from the 
driving position behind the snow thrower.
3.1 CONTENTS - OUTER PACKING
The packing contains:
- One snow thrower
- One adjustment lever
- One set of instructions
- One assembly kit
In addition, the following are supplied:
- Chute clearing tool (15 in fig. 8)
- Extra break bolts for spare
3.2 UNPACKING
1.  Remove all loose items from the carton.
2.  Cut the four corners of the carton and let the sides fall 
down.
3.  Roll the snow thrower from the carton.
4. Cut off the plastic straps.
3.3 HANDLE, FIG. 2
1.  Loosen, but do not remove, the securing nuts in the upper 
holes.
2.  Fold up the upper part of the handle. NOTE! Make sure 
the control wires do not jam.
3.  Fit screws from the outside in the lower holes and 
assemble with the following parts:
A Screws
D Lock nut
4.  Tighten the four nuts.
3.4 ADJUSTMENT LEVER
1.  Remove the locking pin (3:Q).
2.  Place the shaft (3:R) in the sleeve (3:S) in the toggle joint.
3.  Lock the joint with the locking pin (3:Q).
4.  Check the discharge chute by turning it fully in both 
directions. The chute should rotate freely.
3.5 CHECKING THE CONTROL WIRES
The control wires might need adjusting before using the 
snow thrower for the first time.
See ADJUSTING THE CONTROL WIRES below.
3.6 TYRE PRESSURE
Check the air pressure in the tyres. Correct air pressure: 1.0 
– 1.2 bar.
3.7 IGNITION KEY
Remove key from shipping location and insert into ignition

4 CONTROLS
4.1 CLUTCH LEVER- AUGER (1:A)
Connects the auger and fan when the lever is pushed 
down towards the handle. 
Situated on the right side of the handle.
4.2 GEAR LEVER (1:B)
The machine has 6 forward gears and 2 reverse to regulate 
the speed. 
The gear stick must not be moved if the driving clutch lever 
is depressed.
4.3 CLUTCH LEVER- DRIVING (1:C)
Engages the wheels when put into gear and the lever 
is pushed towards the handle.
Situated on the left side of the handle.
4.4 CHOKE (1:D)
Used when starting a cold engine: 
1. The choke is open
2. The choke is closed (for cold starting)
4.5 PRIMER (1:E)
Pressing the rubber prime-starter squirts fuel into the 
carburettor intake pipe to make it easier to start a cold 
engine. 
4.6 IGNITION KEY (1:F)
Must be fully inserted or the engine will not start. Do not turn 
the key!
1. Key fully inserted – engine can start.
2. Key pulled out – engine cannot start.
4.7OIL DRAINING PLUG (1:G)
For draining the old engine oil when changing the oil.
4.8 FILLER CAP (1:H)
a. For filling with petrol.
4.9 STARTING HANDLE (1:I)
Manual cord start with rewinding
4.10 START BUTTON – ELECTRICAL START (1:J)
Activates the electric starting motor.
4.11 ELECTRIC CABLE – ELECTRICAL START 
(1:K)
Supplies power to the starting motor. Connect the cable to a 
220/230 volt earthed socket via an earthed extension lead. It 
is wise to use an earth fault breaker.
4.12 DIPSTICK (1:L)
For filling and checking the oil level in the engine. 
The dipstick has two level marks:
FULL = maximum oil level
ADD = minimum oil level4.13 SHOES (1:M)
Used to set the height of the auger housing above the ground.
4.14 CHUTE CLEARING TOOL (1:N)
The chute clearing tool is located in a holder on top of the 
auger housing. The chute clearing tool must always be used 
when cleaning the discharge chute and auger.
Always stop the engine before clearing the chute.
Never clear the snow discharge chute with your 
hand. Risk of serious injury.
Use the chute clearing tool supplied.
4.15 CHUTE DEFLECTOR (1:O)
Loosen the wing nut and set the height of the deflector (fig 9).
Lowered – shorter throwing distance. 
Raised – longer throwing distance.
4.16 ADJUSTMENT LEVER (1:P)
Changes the direction of the discharged snow. 
1. Turn the lever clockwise – the discharge turns to 
the right.
2. Turn the lever anti-clockwise – the discharge turns 
to the left. 
5 USING THE SNOW THROWER
5.1 GENERAL
Never start the engine until all the above measures under 
ASSEMBLY have been carried out. 
Never use the snow thrower without first reading 
and understanding the instructions and all the 
warning and instruction stickers on the machine. 
Always use protective goggles or a visor during 
use, maintenance and service.
5.2 BEFORE STARTING
Check the engine oil before using.
Do not start the engine until filled with oil. The en-
gine can be seriously damaged without oil.
1.  Place the machine on a level floor.
2.  Loosen the dipstick (1:L) and read the oil level. See fig. 7.
3. The oil level shall be between the marks “ADD” and 
“FULL”.
4. If necessary fill with oil up to the FULL mark. See fig. 7.
5.  Use good quality oil marked A.P.I service SF, SG or SH. 
Use SAE 5W30 oil. Use SAE 10W30 oil for temperatures 
under -18° C. 
Do not use SAE 10W40.

5.3 FILL UP THE PETROL TANK
Always use lead-free petrol. Oil-mixed 2-stroke petrol must 
not be used.
NOTE! Bear in mind that ordinary lead-free petrol is 
perishable; do not purchase more petrol than can be used 
within thirty days.
Environmental petrol can be used, i.e. alkylate petrol. This 
type of petrol has a composition that is less harmful for 
people and nature.
Petrol is highly inflammable. Always store fuel in 
containers that are made especially for this pur-
pose. 
Store the petrol in a cool, well ventilated place – 
not in the house. Store the petrol well out of reach 
for children.
Only fill or top up with petrol outdoors, and never 
smoke when filling or topping up. Fill with fuel be-
fore starting the engine. Never remove the filler 
cap or fill with petrol while the engine is running 
or still warm.
Do not fill the petrol tank right to the top. After filling, screw 
the filler cap on tightly and wipe up any spilt petrol. 
5.4 STARTING THE ENGINE (WITHOUT 
ELECTRICAL START) 
1.  Make sure the driving and auger clutch levers are 
disengaged. (1:A), (1:C)
2. Put in the ignition key. Ensure it clicks tight. Do not turn 
the key!
3. Turn the choke to position  . Note: A warm engine does 
not need the choke.
4. Press the rubber primer-start (1:E) 2 or 3 times. Make 
sure the hole is covered when pressing the primer-start. 
Note: Do not use this function when the engine is warm.
5. Pull on the starter cord until you feel resistance. Start the 
engine with a sharp pull.
6. When the engine starts, turn the choke anti-clockwise 
until it is fully open.
Never run the machine indoors. The exhaust 
fumes contain carbon monoxide, a very toxic gas.
5.5 STARTING THE ENGINE (WITH ELECTRICAL 
START)
1.  Attach the connecting cable to an earthed extension lead. 
Then connect the extension lead to a 220/230 volt earthed 
socket.
2.  Make sure the driving and auger clutch levers are 
disengaged. (1:A), (1:C)
3. Put in the ignition key. Ensure it clicks tight. Do not turn 
the key!
4. Turn the choke to position  . Note: A warm engine does 
not need the choke.
5. Press the rubber primer-start (1:E) 2 or 3 times. Make 
sure the hole is covered when pressing the primer-start. 
Note: Do not use this function when the engine is warm.
6. Starting the engine:
a. Press the start button to activate the starting motor. 
b. When the engine starts, release the start button and 
open the choke by slowly turning the choke lever anti-
clockwise to position   .c. If the engine stutters, close the choke immediately and 
gradually open it again.
d. First pull out the extension lead from the socket. Then 
remove the extension lead from the engine.
Note: The electrical starting motor has overload 
protection. The motor stops automatically when 
overheated. It will not restart until it has cooled, which 
takes about 5 - 10 minutes.
7. When the engine starts, turn the choke anti-clockwise 
until it is fully open. 
Never run the machine indoors. The exhaust 
fumes contain carbon monoxide, a very toxic gas.
5.6 SAFETY TEST
This machine is equipped with several mechanical safety 
systems, designed to keep the operator safe while using the 
unit.
After starting and before use of the machine, it is essential 
to perform the safety test below.
If the unit fails to operate as described, DO NOT operate it. 
In this case, contact an authorised workshop for repair.
Auger test
1. The engine shall be running.
2. Press down the auger lever and the auger shall rotate.
3. Release the auger lever and the auger shall stop within 5 
seconds.
Drive test
1. The engine shall be running and the gear lever in 1st gear 
alt. the speed lever in low speed.
2. Press down the driving lever and the unit shall move.
3. Release the driving lever and the unit shall stop.
5.7 STOPPING
1.  Release both clutch levers. Note. If the snow thrower 
continues rotating - see ADJUSTING THE CONTROL 
WIRES below.
2. Remove the ignition key. Do not turn the key!
If the machine is left unattended, stop the engine 
and remove the ignition key. 
5.8 STARTING
1.  Start the engine as above. Let the engine run a few 
minutes to warm before use.
2.  Set the chute deflector.
3.  Turn the adjustment lever and set the deflector to throw 
the snow in the direction of the wind.
4.  Set the gear lever to a suitable position. 
The gear stick must not be moved if the driving 
clutch lever is depressed.
5.  Press down the auger clutch lever (1:A) to activate the 
auger and discharge fan.
Watch out for rotating auger. Keep hands, feet, 
hair and loose clothing away from any moving 
parts on the machine.
6.  Press down the driving clutch lever (1:C). The snow 
thrower now moves forward or backwards depending on 
the gear you have chosen.

5.9 DRIVING TIPS
The silencer and surrounding parts become very 
hot when the engine is running. Risk of burns. 
1. Always adapt the speed to the snowy conditions. 
Regulate the speed with the gear stick not the throttle.
2.  Snow is more effectively removed directly after falling.
3.  Always throw the snow in the direction of the wind if 
possible.
4.  Adjust the shoes with the screws (5:T) to suit the ground 
conditions: 
- On flat ground, e.g. asphalt, the shoes should be about  
3 mm under the scraping blade.
- On uneven ground, e.g. gravel paths, the shoes should 
be about 30 mm under the scraping blade.
Always adjust the shoes so that gravel and stones 
are not fed into the snow thrower. There is a risk 
for personal injury if these are thrown out at high 
speed. 
Ensure the shoes are adjusted the same on both sides.
5.  Adapt the speed so that the snow is thrown in an even 
stream.
If snow fastens in the chute do not try to remove it 
before: 
- Releasing both clutch levers. Stopping the engine. 
- Removing the ignition key. 
- Do not put your hand inside the chute or auger. 
Use the chute clearing tool supplied.
5.10 AFTER USE
1.  Check for loose or damaged parts. If required, change 
damaged parts.
2.  Tighten loose screws and nuts.
3.  Brush all the snow from the machine.
4.  Move all the controls backwards and forwards a few 
times.
5.  Put the choke in position   
Do not cover the machine while the engine and si-
lencer are still warm.
6 MAINTENANCE
6.1 OIL CHANGE
Change the oil the first time after 2 hours of operation, and 
subsequently every 25 hours of operation or once a season. 
Change oil when the engine is warm.
The engine oil may be very warm if it is drained off 
directly after the engine is shut off. So allow the en-
gine to cool a few minutes before draining the oil.
1. Lean the snow thrower slightly to the right so that 
the oil draining plug is the lowest point of the engine.
2.  Unscrew the oil draining plug.
3.  Let the oil run out into a container.
4.  Screw back the oil draining plug.
5.  Fill with new oil: See BEFORE STARTING above for 
type. 
Oil amount in the crankcase: 0.8 litre6.2 SPARK PLUG
Check the spark plug once a year or every hundred hours of 
use.
Clean or change the plug if the electrodes are burnt. The 
engine manufacturer recommends: Champion RC12YC.
Correct spark gap: 0.7/-0.8 mm 
6.3 CARBURETTOR
The carburettor is factory set. If adjustment is required, 
contact an authorised service station. 
7 LUBRICATION
No service must be carried out before: 
The engine has stopped. 
The ignition key has been removed. 
- The starting cable has been disconnected from 
the spark plug.
If the instructions say that the machine is to be lifted at the 
front and rested on the auger housing then the petrol tank 
must be emptied.
Empty the petrol tank outdoors when the engine is 
cold. Do not smoke. Empty into a container de-
signed for petrol.
7.1 DISCHARGER
Lubricate the discharger flange and the adjustment lever 
worm gear every 5th hour of use and before long time 
storage. 
7.2 WORM GEAR
The worm gear is filled with special lubricant at the factory. 
Refilling is not normally required.
Loosen the plug once a year and check if the worm gear 
contains lubricant (6:U).
If it is leaking or has been repaired it must be refilled with 
lubricant. The worm gear holds 92 grams of lubricant at the 
most.
Use Shell Darina 1, Texaco Thermatex EP1, Mobiltem 78, 
Benalene #372 Grease or similar. 
8 SERVICE AND REPAIRS
No service must be carried out before: 
The engine has stopped. 
The ignition key has been removed. 
If the instructions say that the machine is to be lifted at the 
front and rested on the auger housing then the petrol tank 
must be emptied.
Empty the petrol tank outdoors when the engine is 
cold. Do not smoke. Empty into a container de-
signed for petrol.

8.1 ADJUSTING THE SCRAPER BLADE 
The scraper blade gets worn after a lot of use.
Adjust the scraper blade (always together with the shoes)  
The scraper blade is reversible so can be used on both sides. 
8.2 GENERAL ABOUT DRIVE BELTS
The drive belts should be checked and adjusted once per 
season and replaced when needed. This should all be done at 
an authorised service station.
8.3 ADJUSTING THE DRIVING WIRE
See fig 8.
1.  Disconnect the ignition cable from the spark plug.
2.  Remove protection from the adjustment plate.
3.  Insert the cables in the adjustment plate without any 
slack.
4.  Reinsert the protection.
8.4 ADJUSTING THE AUGER WIRE
1.  Loosen the nut (9:X).
2. Screw the threaded part (9:Y) into the sleeve (9:Z) until 
the slackness disappear.
3.  Tighten the nut (9:X).
8.5 REPLACING THE SHEAR BOLTS
The auger is fastened to the shaft by special bolts (6:V) that 
are designed to break if something gets stuck in the auger 
housing.
Always use genuine spare parts. Other types of 
bolts could cause serious damage to the machine.
1.  Stop the engine.
2.  - Disconnect the starting cable from the spark plug.
3.  Ensure all the rotating parts have stopped.
4.  Remove the object that has fastened in the auger.
5.  Lubricate the auger shaft (see above).
6. Align the holes in the shaft and the auger.
7. Remove the defective bolt parts.
8.  Assemble the new genuine bolt.
9 STORAGE
Never store the snow thrower with petrol in the 
tank in a confined area with bad ventilation. Petrol 
fumes could reach open flames, sparks, cigarettes 
etc.
If the snow thrower is to be stored for a longer period than 30 
days, the following measures are recommended:
1.  Empty the petrol tank.
2.  Start the engine and let it run until it stops due to lack of 
fuel.
Empty the petrol tank outdoors when the engine is 
cold. Do not smoke. Empty into a container de-
signed for petrol.
3.  Change the engine oil if it has not been done for 3 
months.
4.  Remove the spark plug and empty a little engine oil 
(about 30ml) in the hole. Crank the engine a couple of 
times. Screw back the spark plug.
5.  Clean the whole snow thrower thoroughly.6.  Lubricate all the parts as shown in LUBRICATING 
above.
7.  Inspect the snow thrower for damage. Repair if 
necessary.
8.  Touch up any paint damage.
9.  Rust protect the metal surfaces.
10. Store the snow thrower indoors if possible. 
10 IF SOMETHING BREAKS
Authorised service workshops carry out repairs and 
guarantee service. Always use genuine spare parts.
Do you carry out simple repairs yourself? Always use 
genuine spare parts. They fit perfectly and make the work 
much easier. 
Spare parts are available at your retailer and service station.
When ordering spare parts: Specify the model, year of 
purchase, the engine model and type number.
11 PURCHASE TERMS
A full warranty is issued against manufacturing and material 
defects. The user must carefully follow the instructions given 
in the enclosed documentation.
Warranty period
For consumer use: One year from date of purchase.
For commercial use: Three months from the date of 
purchase.
Exceptions
The warranty does not cover damage due to:
- Neglect by the user to acquaint themselves with 
accompanying documentation
- Carelessness 
- Incorrect and non-permitted use or assembly
- The use of non-genuine spare parts
- The use of accessories not supplied or approved by Stiga
Neither does the guarantee cover:
- Wear parts such as drive belts, augers, headlights, wheels, 
shear bolts and wires
- Normal wear
- Engines. These are covered by the engine manufacturer’s 
warranties, with separate terms and conditions.
The purchaser is covered the national laws of each by each 
country. The rights to which the purchaser is entitled with the 
support of these laws are not restricted by this warranty.
