Transferring files

You can transfer a copy of a file from the 
voice messaging system to the support 
computer during a Remote Maintenance 
session. The original file remains on the 
voice messaging system. 
During most file transfers, the voice mes- 
saging system continues to answer calls. 
However, to transfer or view any of the 
following files, shut down the voice messag- 
ing software and go to the command 
prompt: 
l Database files (AvY.* files) 
l Executable files (*.EXE)

Restarting the voice messaging system - 
remotely 
At times, you may need to restart the voice 
messaging system during a Remote Mainte- 
nance session. For example, if the voice 
messaging system is not answering calls, 
and no one is available to restart the voice 
messaging system, you can use Remote 
Maintenance to bring the system back on 
line. When you restart the voice messaging 
system remotely; the Remote Maintenance 
connection is ended, Wait about two 
minutes for the voice messaging system...

RESTARTING THE VOICE MESSAGING SYSTEM REMOTELY 
To restart the voice messaging system from 
the support computer 
1 Shut down the voice messaging system 
and go to the voice messaging system’s 
command prompt. 
2 PreSSALT+LEFTSHIFTtO access the 
Remote Maintenanc&$lain menu. 
3 Press 
~8 to choose “Support Menu.”

F3 to choose “Host Reboot.”

Tracking Remote Maintenance sessions with the 
billing log 
You can track information about Remote 
Maintenance sessions by using the billing 
log feature. The billing log stores the 
following information about each 
connection: 
l The name and telephone number of the 
voice messaging system 
l The identification code of the person 
who conducted the session 
l Comments about the session 
0 The date the call occurred 
l The start time, end time, and elapsed 
time of the connection

Fields in each billing log record 
Field Description 
Operator ID Three alphanumeric characters that identify who conducted 
the Remote Maintenance session. 
Name The name of the voice messaging system as it appears in the
