NDA-30046 Revision 4.0Page 127 Attendant Management System Operations Manual Display Configuration External Numbers: External Number records are used for both incoming and outgoing calls. If an incoming call contains the external calling number (ANI), AMS displays its configured fields in the Source Window. Outgoing calls can be placed via Directory Assistance by selecting the external number in the Lookup display. These records require name and number fields. Prompts are displayed for up to nine other field choices, including up to four user-defined labels. Selecting a user- defined label displays a prompt at the bottom of the screen that requests the field label. External Name–A unique name associated with this location or entity, up to 30 characters long. (Required) Num to Call–The telephone number to be dialed to this location, up to 21 characters. Enter any necessary access codes such as 9 or 91xxx where xxx is the area code. (Required) Num to Dspl–The telephone number that is displayed for this location, up to 15 characters for this location or entity. This number identifies the calling party. Include symbols (“–”) for readability. (Required) ANI Number–Digits sent from the Central Office that identify the number calling. Account–The account number associated with this location, up to 10 characters Address –The street address of this location or entity, up to 30 characters City–The city in which this street address is located, up to 25 characters State–The state in which this city is located, up to 2 characters Zip Code–The zip code associated with the preceding address, up to 10 characters Comment 1-4–Four fields of 25 characters each that can be defined to meet site-specific needs. When any of these is selected, a prompt is displayed for entry of its field label.
Page 128NDA-30046 Revision 4.0 Display Configuration Attendant Management System Operations Manual Internal Locations: Internal Location records are available when calls must be directed via Directory Assistance to an extension that is not associated with an employee. These records contain only a name and extension number and up to four fields that can be defined to meet specific site needs. A prompt at the bottom of the screen requests the next field label. When the field label is entered, it moves to the next available prompt. Name–The name of an internal location or entity, such as conference rooms, cafeteria, or lobby, up to 30 characters long. (Required) Extension–The five-digit extension number that is assigned to this location or entity at the NEAX MAT. This was previously entered through the Extension Maintenance option. (Required) Comment 1-4–Four fields of 25 characters each that can be defined to meet site-specific needs. When any of these is selected, a prompt is displayed for entry of its field label. Routes: Route records provide the attendants with additional information when answering calls from the routes. These records also contain a required name and route number and up to four fields that can be defined to meet specific site needs. There is a prompt at the bottom of the screen for entering labels associated with the user- defined fields. Route Name–A unique name by which this route is known, up to 30 characters (Required) Route Num–The 3-character number of this route, corresponding to a route number configured at the NEAX2400 MAT (Required) CCIS Indx–The 5-digit number that prefixes this route to identify the PBX in a centralized attendant configuration Comment 1-4–Four fields of 25 characters each that can be defined to meet site-specific needs; when any of these is selected, a prompt is displayed for entry of its field label.
NDA-30046 Revision 4.0Page 129 Attendant Management System Operations Manual Display Configuration DID Numbers DID Numbers are used to identify incoming calls only. When an incoming call arrives on a Direct Dial Number that is assigned in the PBX as a virtual number, this virtual number is forwarded to the main monitored number used for the operator, usually “0”. When the operator answers, the matching DID record will display in the Source Caller Window, along with up to four predefined fields. These records require the name and number fields. Up to four comment fields may be entered to meet specific site needs. A prompt at the bottom of the screen requests the next field label. When the field label is entered, it moves to the next available prompt. DID Num–The unique five-digit virtual extension assigned at the NEAX MAT which identifies the called number. (Required) DID Name–The name associated with this location, up to 30 characters in length (Required) Comment 1-4–Four fields of 25 characters each that can be defined to meet site-specific needs; when any of these is selected, a prompt is displayed for entry of its field label. Procedure Action Result On the Display Configuration menu, enter i to select the Input Menu option. (1)The Input Menu Configuration screen displays the types of database records. (2) To select the desired type of database record, enter the highlighted letter. Note: In most cases, it is the first letter of the word. When the word be- gins with a letter that has been used before, you can highlight the second letter. A list of prompts appears with the fields of the selected record type in a pop-up window to the right. Using the arrow keys, move the highlight to the desired field title and press Enter.On most record type configuration screens, the AMS automatically prompts for the label of a user-defined field. The selected field title is placed in the next available Prompt: field.

The Primary Line prompts are followed by the field labels that are required for the selected record type. (See Figure 9-4, “Source Window Configuration” on page 131.) A pop-up window contains all of the other field labels configured for the selected record type via the Input Menu option. To select a field label, move the highlight down the list in the pop-up window until it is positioned on the desired label, then press Enter to accept it. The field label automatically moves to the next available Line prompt. Continue this process until all desired field labels are selected and positioned next to a prompt. Remember that the order of selection is the order in which the field labels appear in the Source Window. Selections take effect when the next user logs in and enters the call processing screen. Multi-page Pop-up WindowIf more field labels have been configured through the Input Menu option than can fit in the pop-up window, use the arrow or page keys to move among the pages of display. NDA-30046 Revision 4.0Page 133 Attendant Management System Operations Manual Display Configuration Directory Window The Directory Window option on the Display Configuration menu is used to select the three primary fields displayed in a Directory Lookup for employees, internal locations, and external numbers. It is also used to configure the fields that are displayed when a Directory Lookup record is expanded. Figure 9-5 Directory Window Configuration Directory Lookup Display The Directory Lookup display consists of three fields called Primary Line fields in this configuration. Two of these fields are required to be Employee (name) and Extension. The third can be defined through this option. When a Directory Lookup record is expanded, using the Tab key, up to eight fields can be displayed. These eight fields are also defined through this option. Page 134NDA-30046 Revision 4.0 Display Configuration Attendant Management System Operations Manual About Directory Window ConfigurationThe Directory Window Configuration screen lists three Primary Line prompts, representing the three fields that are displayed for a record in the Call Processing Directory Lookup screen, followed by eight Line prompts. The first two Primary Line fields, Employee and Extension, cannot be changed, but the highlight bar is positioned on the third so that it can be changed. The eight Line#: prompts represent the fields that display when a selected record is expanded using the Tab key. The field labels shown for the third Primary Line and six of the eight Line prompts are default entries, included in the AMS software. A pop-up window to the right contains the field labels configured through the Input Menu option for the selected record type and the Extension record type if applicable. Figure 9-7 Predefined Messages Option About Predefined Messages Predefined Messages save the attendant time when recording messages for employees. The Predefined Messages screen lists up to ten prompts for entry of the messages that will be displayed on the call processing screen when the attendant is taking a message, as shown in Figure 9-8. Predefined messages are the most common types of messages that are taken for employees. The first message field serves as the default selection on the Message Taking window.
