1Turn off the printer and discon-
nect the power cord and inter-
face cables.
2Using a screwdriver, loosen the 
screw of the right cover, located 
at the rear side.
3Remove the right side cover.

4Using a screwdriver, loosen the 
two screws. (Do not remove 
them from the printer.)
5Remove the panel.
6Plug the cable on the CF 
Adapter into the connector on 
the controller board.

7Mount the CF Adapter onto the 
controller board as shown in the 
figure, and then secure the 
screws.
8Fully insert the CompactFlash 
card into the appropriate slot. 
When the CompactFlash card is 
correctly inserted, the button on 
the side of the slot (circled in the 
illustration) slightly pops out.
Before removing the Com-
pactFlash card, press this 
button.
9Reinstall the panel and tighten the two screws.
10Attach the right side cover.
11Reconnect all interface cables.
12Reconnect the power cord, and 
turn on the printer.

13Declare the Memory card in the Windows printer driver (Properties/Con-
figure tab).

Duplex
Duplex (double-sided) printing can be performed automatically with the 
duplex and enough memory installed. For details, refer to “Duplexing” on 
page 108.
Installing the Duplex
1Turn off the printer and discon-
nect the power cord and inter-
face cables.

2Pushing the two tabs as shown 
in the figure, remove the rear 
cover of the printer.
3Remove the connector cover of 
the printer as shown in the fig-
ure.
4Insert the right and left tabs at 
the bottom of the duplex into the 
holes at the back of the printer, 
and then align the top of the 
duplex with the printer.
Ensure that the connec-
tor of the duplex is con-
nected to the connector 
of the printer.

5Tighten the two screws at the 
both ends of the bottom of the 
duplex.
6Reconnect all interface cables.
7Reconnect the power cord, and 
turn on the printer.
8Declare the Duplex in the Windows printer driver (Properties/Configure 
tab).

Lower Feeder Unit
You can install up to two optional lower feeder units (Trays 3 and 4). Each 
lower feeder unit increases your printer’s media feed capacity by A4/550 
sheets.

Note
Since consumables are installed in the printer, be sure to keep the 
printer level when moving it in order to prevent accidental spills.
1Turn off the printer and discon-
nect the power cord and inter-
face cables.
2Place the feeder unit to be installed at the lower level on a flat location.
If you install only one lower feeder unit, proceed to Step 6.
3Lift up the feeder unit to be 
installed at the higher level by 
holding the parts as shown in the 
figure.

4Align the front and back corners 
of the top and bottom feeder 
units, and slowly lower the top 
unit so that the guide pins at the 
4 corners of the bottom unit fit 
into the holes of the base plate 
of the top unit.
5Securely insert the fasteners into 
the 2 locations inside the top 
feeder unit and 2 locations at the 
back of the feeder units.
