About PictBridge Print Settings
Settings on a PictBridge Compliant Device
This section describes the PictBridge function of t he printer. For the print settings on a PictBridge
compliant device, refer to the instructions given i n the devices instruction manual.
Note
In the following description, names of setting item s are given according to those used in
Canon-brand PictBridge compliant devices. Setting i tem names may be different depending
on the brand or model of your device.
Some setting items explained below may not be avail able on some devices. W hen you
cannot change print settings on a device, the print er prints images as follows:
Paper size: 4 x 6/101.6 x 152.4 mm 
Paper type: Photo 
Layout: 1-up, Borderless 
Date/File No. Print: Not printed 
Image Optimize: The Photo optimizer pro function wil l be used for optimized printing.
The following settings can be used when printing fr om a PictBridge compliant device.
Paper size4 x 6/ 10 x 15 cm, 5 x 7*1, 8 x 10/ 20 x 25 cm, A4, 8.5 x 11(Letter), 4 x 7.1/
10.1 x 18 cm*2 
*1 Can be selected only on certain Canon-brand Pict Bridge compliant devices.
(May not be selected depending on the device.) 
*2 Hi Vision may appear on a non-Canon brand PictBr idge compliant device.

Cleaning
This section describes the cleaning procedure that  is needed to maintain your printer.
Important
Do not use tissue paper, paper towels, rough-textur ed cloth, or similar materials for cleaning so as
not to scratch the surface. Paper tissue powder or  fine threads may remain inside the printer and
cause problems such as print head blockage and poor  printing results. Be sure to use a soft cloth.
Never use volatile liquids such as thinners, benzene, acetone, or any other chemical cleaner to
clean the printer, as this may cause a malfunction  or damage the printers surface.

Be sure to use a soft cloth such as eyeglasses cleaning cloth and wipe off dirt on the surface gently.
Smooth out wrinkles on the cloth if necessary befor e cleaning.

Cleaning the Print Heads 
The print head cleaning function allows you to unclog clogged nozzles in the print head. Perform print
head cleaning if printing is faint or a specific co lor fails to print, even though there is enough ink . 
The procedure for cleaning the print heads is as fo llows: 
 Cleaning 
1.Open the printer driver setup window
2.
Click Cleaning on the Maintenance tab  
The Print Head Cleaning dialog box opens. Follow th e instruction shown in the dialog box.
Click Initial Check Items to display the items you  need to check before performing Cleaning. 
3.Execute cleaning  
Make sure that the printer is on and then click Execute.  
Print head cleaning starts. 
4.Complete cleaning  
The Nozzle Check dialog box opens after the confirm ation message. 
5.Check the results  
To check whether the print quality has improved, click P rint Check Pattern. To cancel the check
process, click Cancel.  
If cleaning the head once does not resolve the prin t head problem, clean it once more. 
 Deep Cleaning 
Deep Cleaning is more thorough than cleaning. Perfo rm deep cleaning when two Cleaning attempts do
not resolve the print head problem. 
1.Open the printer driver setup window
2.
Click Deep Cleaning on the Maintenance tab  
The Deep Cleaning dialog box opens. Follow the inst ruction shown in the dialog box.
Click Initial Check Items to display the items you  need to check before performing Deep Cleaning. 
3.Execute deep cleaning  
Make sure that the printer is on and then click Execute. 
Click OK when the confirmation message appears.  
Print head deep cleaning starts.
