W hen printing from an application software that can id entify ICC profiles and allows you to specify them, use a printing ICC profile in the application softw are, and select settings for color management. The procedure for adjusting colors with the printer driver is as follows: 1.Open the printer driver setup window 2. Select the media type Select the type of paper loaded in the printer from the Media Type list on the Main tab. 3.Select the print quality For Print Quality, select High, Standard, or Fast accord ing to your purpose. 4.Select the manual color adjustment Select Manual for Color/Intensity, and click Set.... The Manual Color Adjustment dialog box opens. 5.Select color correction Click Matching tab, and select Driver Matching for Color Correction. 6.Set the other items If necessary, click Color Adjustment tab, and adjust the color balance (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) and adjust Brightness, Intensity, and Contrast settings , and then click OK. 7.Complete the setup Click OK on the Main tab. W hen you execute print, the printer driver adjusts the colors when printing the data. The printer driver setting procedure varies dependi ng on the application software used to print. Specify an ICC Profile from the Application Softwar e and Print the Data W hen you print the editing and touch-up results of Adobe Photoshop, Canon Digital Photo Professional, or any application software that allows you to specify i nput and printing ICC profiles, you print by effectively using the color space of the input ICC profile specified in the image data. To use this printing method, use your application s oftware to select color management items and specify an input ICC profile and a printing ICC pro file in the image data. Even if you print using a printing ICC profile that you created yourself or one for special Canon paper fro m your application software, be sure to select color management items from your application software. For instructions, refer to the manual of the applic ation software you are using. 1.Open the printer driver setup window 2. 5.Select color correction Click Matching tab, and select None for Color Correction. 6.Set the other items If necessary, click Color Adjustment tab, and adjust the co lor balance (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) and adjust Brightness, Intensity, and Contrast settings , and then click OK. 7.Complete the setup Click OK on the Main tab. W hen you execute print, the printer uses the color space of the image data. Specify an ICC Profile with the Printer Driver, and then Print Print from an application software that cannot identify input ICC profiles or does allow you to specify one by using the color space of the input ICC profile (sRGB) found in the data. W hen printing Adobe RGB data, you can print the data with the Adobe RGB color space even if the application software does not support Adobe RGB. 1.Open the printer driver setup window 2. 3.Select the print quality For Print Quality, select High, Standard, or Fast according to your purpose. 4.Select the manual color adjustment Select Manual for Color/Intensity, and click Set.... Manual Color Adjustment dialog box opens. 5.Select color correction Click Matching tab, and select ICM or ICC Profile Matchi ng for Color Correction. 6.Select the input profile Select an Input Profile that matches the color space of the image data. Select Adobe RGB (1998). Important W hen the application software specifies an input profile, the input profile setting of the printer driver becomes invalid. W hen no input ICC profiles are installed on your co mputer, Adobe RGB (1998) will not be displayed. You can install ICC profiles from the Se tup CD-ROM that accompanies the printer. 7.Select the rendering intent Select the coloring adjustment method in Rendering Intent. Saturation This method reproduces images even more vividly tha n the Perceptual method. Perceptual This method reproduces images by focusing on color tints that most people prefer. Select this method to print photos. Relative Colorimetric W hen image data is converted to the color space of the printer, this method converts the image data so the color reproduction approximates the sha red color regions. Select this method to print image data with colors that are close to the origin al colors. Absolute Colorimetric W hen Relative Colorimetric is selected, white spots are reproduced as white spots of the paper (background color). However, when Absolute Colorime tric is selected, how the white spots are reproduced depends on the image data. Important W hen W indows XP SP2 or W indows XP SP3 is used, this function is disabled. 8.Set the other items If necessary, click Color Adjustment tab, and adjust the color balance (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) and adjust Brightness, Intensity, and Contrast settings , and then click OK. 9.Complete the setup Click OK on the Main tab. Since this function adjusts color balance of the ou tput by changing the ink ratios of each color, it changes the total color balance of the document. Use the ap plication software when you want to change the colo r balance significantly. Use the printer driver only when you want to adjust the color balance slightly. The following sample shows the case when color bala nce is used to intensify cyan and to diminish yellow so that the overall colors are more uniform. No adjustment Adjust color balance The procedure for adjusting color balance is as fol lows: You can also set color balance on the Quick Setup t ab by choosing Photo Printing under Commonly Used Settings, and then choosing Color/Intensity Ma nual Adjustment under Additional Features. 1.Open the printer driver setup window 2. 3.Adjust color balance There are individual sliders for Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow. Each color becomes stronger when the corresponding slider is moved to the right, and bec omes weaker when the corresponding slider is moved to the left. For example, when cyan becomes w eaker, the color red becomes stronger. You can also directly enter a value linked to the slide r. Enter a value in the range from -50 to 50. The current settings are displayed in the settings prev iew on the left side of the printer driver. After adjusting each color, click OK. Important Adjust the slider gradually. 4.Complete the setup Click OK on the Main tab. W hen you execute print, the document is printed wit h the adjusted color balance. Important W hen the Grayscale Printing check box on the Main tab i s checked, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow appear grayed out and are unavailable. This function does not change pure white or pure bl ack but it changes the brightness of the intermediate colors. The following sample shows the print result when th e brightness setting is changed.
