    4 Align the document guides to fit the width of th\Fe 
    document.
    The machine is ready to copy or scan the docu\Iment.
    	 		
     IMPORT\bNT
    Up to 50 docu\fents can be loaded.
    If more than 51 document\Is are loaded, paper jams may occur, or 
    the document may not be scanned.
    While scanning a docu\fent
    Do not add or remove documents.
    When scanning is co\fplete
    Remove the document from the document de\Ilivery tray to avoid 
    paper jams.
    \bvoid scanning the sa\fe docu\fent \fore than 30 ti\fes.
    When scanned repeatedly, document can beco\Ime folded or torn, 
    which may cause paper jams\I.
    Be sure to align the docu\fent guides with the wi\Rdth of 
    the paper.
    If the document gui\Ides are too loose or too tight, this may result in

    The following paper types do not print well:
    •	 Highly	textured	paper
    •	 V ery
    	smooth	paper
    •	 Glossy
    	paper
    Make sure that the paper is free of dust, lint, and oil stains.
    Make sure to test print before purchasing large quantities of copy paper.
    Keep the paper wrapped in its original\R package (unopened or opened) and 
    stored in a cool, dry place until ready to use. Make sure to keep it on a flat 
    surface.
    Store paper stacks in a pla\Rce where te\fperatures are so\fewhere between 
    64.4 to 75.2°F (18 to 24°C) and hu\fidity is so\fewhere between 40 % to 60 
    % RH.
     C\bUTION
    To print on da\fp paper
    The following problems may occur. •
     Steam is emitted fr
    
    om the machine’s 
    output area.
    •
     Water dr
    
    oplets form on the back side \Iof 
    the operation pane\Il and in the output\I 
    area.
    Moisture evaporates from damp paper 
    due to the heat generat\Ied inside the fixi\Ing 
    unit (it is most li\Ikely to occur at low room 
    temperatures). This is not a malfun\Iction, but 
    you can prevent this by using a stack of\I new 
    unopened paper.
    Should you smell something \Iburning, 
    immediately turn \fFF the machine, unplug 
    the power plug from the AC power outlet, 
    and contact your local authorized Canon 
    dealer or the Canon help line. Continued use 
    may lead to a fire or electrical shock.

    Precautions when inserting the paper drawer
    Be careful not to catch your fingers.
    Precautions when Loading Paper
     IMPORT\bNT
    \bdjust the paper guides to the paper width without 
    space.
    If the paper guides\I are too loose or too tight, this may result in 
    misfeeds or paper jams\I.
    When using paper that has been poorly cut
    If you use paper that \Ihas been poorly cut, multiple she\Iets of paper 
    may be fed at once. In this case, fan the paper th\Ioroughly, and then 
    align the edges of the\I stack properly on a hard, flat surface.
    Do not exceed the line of th\Re load li\fit \fark when 
    loading paper.
    Make sure that the paper s\Itack does not exceed the line of th\Ie load 
    limit mark. If the paper stack \Iexceeds the load limi\It mark lines, this 
    may result in misfeeds.
    When printing on envelopes
    Load envelopes with the front side (non-glued side) facing \Iup. You 
    cannot print on the reverse side of envelopes.
    Also, be sure to close the flap bef\Iore loading envelopes.
