ProfileDescriptionObject Push Profile (OPP)This profile allows your BlackBerry device to send files to and receive files from a Bluetooth enabled device. Files supported by this profile include contacts, calendar events, and multimedia files such as pictures, audio files, and video files. Personal Area Networking - User/ Network Access Point (PAN - U/NAP)This profile allows you to use your BlackBerry device as a modem when iths connected to a Bluetooth enabled computer. Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP)This profile allows a Bluetooth enabled car kit to access contact information and recent call history information on your BlackBerry device. This profile allows the car kit to place a call to a contact or display the contact name for an incoming call. Remote SIM Access Profile (rSAP)This profile allows a Bluetooth enabled device, such as a car phone, to connect to your BlackBerry device when your device is connected to a GSM network. The profile lets the Bluetooth enabled device use the SIM card functionality of your BlackBerry device. For example, a car phone can use the SIM card in your device to make phone calls or send and receive text messages. Serial Port Profile (SPP)This profile allows you to connect your device to Bluetooth enabled devices that support desktop connectivity, wireless bypass, and data transfer. Tx Power Service (TPS)This service allows a Bluetooth enabled device to access information about the current transmit power levels of your BlackBerry device. NFC NFC is a short-range wireless technology thaths used for quickly creating connections between your BlackBerry device and other NFC-enabled devices or NFC tags. NFC is designed so you can easily share content and information without having to pair your BlackBerry device with another NFC compatible device. Depending on your wireless service provider and the applications you have installed on your device, there are many interesting things you can do using NFC, such as sharing a picture with a friend or paying for a purchase using your device. WhatisNFC? The NFC feature might not be available, depending on your wireless service provider, your administratorhs settings, and your BlackBerry device model. NFC is a short-range wireless technology that is designed to let you easily share content and information without having to use pairing information. Some interesting ways you can use NFC file sharing include: tExchange contact cards with a new friend or business acquaintance. tPass a picture to your friend. tGrab a coupon from a poster you see on the street. tSend a webpage youhre viewing to a friend. tAdd a friend to your BBM contacts. tCopy smart tag information to an NFC tag. tConnect to an NFC enabled printer to print or scan a file. Some NFC apps are designed to simulate a physical card, such as a credit card, a public transit pass, or an access badge. NFC can be used in many ways depending on the applications you have installed on your device and the NFC compatibility of other devices. TurnonNFC The NFC feature might not be available, depending on your wireless service provider, your administratorhs settings, and your BlackBerry device model. 1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen. 2.Tap Settings > NetworksandConnections > NFC. 3.Turn on the NFCConnectivity switch. With NFC, you can exchange many kinds of files, including pictures, music, contact info, and even webpages, between your BlackBerry device and other NFC-enabled devices. RemoveorresetadefaultNFCapp The NFC feature might not be available, depending on your wireless service provider, your administratorhs settings, and your BlackBerry device model. Multiple NFC apps on your device might use the same app ID that an NFC reader requests. Your device prompts you to set one of the apps as the default app for the NFC reader. You can remove and change the default app setting. 1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen. 2.Tap Settings > AppManager. 3.Tap CardEmulationApps or DefaultApps. 4.Do one of the following: tTo remove the app as the default app for the NFC reader, tap the checkbox beside the default app and tap . tTo reset your device to use the factory settings for default apps, tap . 5.The next time you use the NFC reader, set the appropriate app as the default app. Troubleshooting:NFC ThewrongappopenswhenIuseanNFCreader The wrong app might open because it is set as the default app to use with an NFC reader. You might need to remove or reset the default app for the NFC reader. Tap Settings > AppManager > DefaultApps to remove the app as the default app for the NFC reader. The next time you tap your device against the NFC reader, set the preferred app as the default app. NFCisnotworkingasexpected If you try to share a file by using an NFC connection or a smart tag when your device is locked and the backlight is off, or when the power is turned off, NFC will not work. Settings in the AllowNFCCard Transactions section of the NFC screen donht apply to NFC file transfers or the smart tag feature. You can set up your device to run some NFC apps when your device is locked and the backlight is turned off, or when the power is turned off. In the NFC settings, the Whenlockedorbacklightisoff option applies to NFC apps that simulate physical card transactions, (for example, credit card payments or security badges that allow access to secure buildings), and NFC transactions handled by your SIM card. The Whendeviceisturnedoff option applies only to NFC transactions that are handled by your SIM card. USBconnections You can use a USB cable to create a two-way connection between your BlackBerry device and your computer. When you connect your device to your computer using a USB cable, your device appears as a mapped drive. If you turn on the USB Mass Storage Mode feature, your device appears on your computer as a removable storage device. You can usually use a USB connection to drag files between your device and your computer, depending on the features of your computer. Accessthefilesonyourmediacardfromanexternaldevice To use the USB Mass Storage Mode feature, you must have a media card in your BlackBerry device. USB Mass Storage Mode is designed to let you use your device as a USB drive. Using a USB cable, you can connect your device to a computer, car stereo, or other external device, and access the files on your media card. When you turn on USB Mass Storage Mode and connect your device to a computer using a USB cable, your device appears on your computer as a removable storage device. Note:When USB Mass Storage Mode is on and your device is connected to an external device using a USB cable, apps on your device canht access the files on your media card. 1.On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen. 2.Tap Settings > NetworksandConnections > USB. 3.Turn on the USBMassStorageMode switch. Preventaccesstodataonyourdevicewhilecharging The Charge Only Mode feature is designed to prevent access to the data on your BlackBerry device when you use a USB cable to charge your device. MobileHotspot When you use Mobile Hotspot mode your BlackBerry device creates a Wi-Fi network that other Wi-Fi enabled devices can connect to so that they can use the Internet through your mobile network connection. SharingyourInternetconnectionusingMobileHotspotmode This feature lets you connect your devices to the Internet anywhere that your BlackBerry device has a mobile network connection, but because this feature uses the mobile network, you might incur high data charges. On some mobile networks, services such as email and BBM might not be available while Mobile Hotspot mode is on. After you set up Mobile Hotspot mode on your BlackBerry device, connecting to the mobile hotspot with a Wi-Fi enabled device is a lot like connecting to any regular router. Before you use Mobile Hotspot mode, read the latest safety and product information at www.blackberry.com/docs/smartphones. Internettethering Internet tethering allows you to share your BlackBerry devicehs connection to the mobile network with one other device, such as a laptop or tablet, so that you can access the Internet on your other device anywhere that your BlackBerry device can connect to the mobile network.
