D Press one of the x Start buttons to receive the fax, and then put the phone back on the hook. Receive a fax by polling This allows you to receive a fax from the fax information service you have called. D Select Polling. E Enter the fax number. F Press one of the x Start buttons to receive the fax. Note: ❏If Fax Output is set to Save, the received fax data is automatically saved as data, and you do not have to proceed to step 7. ❏If Auto Answer mode is turned on, the received fax data is automatically printed, and you do not have to proceed to step 7. G Press one of the x Start buttons to print the received fax. Printing Reports Follow the instructions below to print a fax report. Using the Control Panel Selecting a Mode You can use this product as a printer, copier, scanner, and fax. When using one of these functions, except the printer function, select your desired function by pressing the corresponding Mode button on the control panel. Each mode’s main screen appears as you select the mode. There are three Mode buttons on the control panel that allow you to switch between the modes: Copy mode, Scan mode, and Fax mode. In addition, you can also use the Setup button for making various settings for this product. Setup Mode Lock Settings You can lock the control panel to make it childproof, or to prevent unintended changes made by using the control panel. A Enter F Setup mode. B Select Lock Settings. C Select On. D Enter the password. You can enter up to 20 characters. Note for WP-4511/WP-4515/WP-4521/WP-4525/WP-4530/WP-4531/WP-4535: For details on using the virtual keyboard, refer to “Using the LCD screen” on page 19. E For WP-4540/WP-4545: Press OK. For WP-4511/WP-4515/WP-4521/WP-4525/WP-4530/WP-4531/WP-4535: Press the l, r, u, or d buttons to select Done, and then press the OK button. Power Off Timer Note: This function is not available for Fax model. You can adjust the time before Power Management is applied. Any increase will affect the printer’s energy efficiency. Paper Size Loaded Select your paper size loaded in the rear MP tray and cassette(s). A Enter F Setup mode. B Select Printer Setup. C Select Paper Size Loaded. D Select paper source that you load. E Select paper size that you load. Paper Size Notice If you want to ignore a paper size error, select Off. When you turn this item off, the product keeps printing even if the image size exceeds the printable area for the specified paper size. This may cause smudges because of the ink that is not transferred onto the paper properly. When this item is turned on, the product stops printing if a paper size error occurs. A Enter F Setup mode. C Select Paper Size Notice. D Select On or Off. Print Status Sheet Prints a sheet showing the current product settings and installed options. Fax Settings Send Settings Resolution: Select this option to change the resolution for fax data you are sending. Quality: Select this option to change the quality for fax data you are sending. Contrast: S e l e c t t h i s o p t i o n t o c h a n g e t h e c o n t r a s t f o r fax data you are sending. 2-Sided Faxing: Turn on when sending 2-sided originals in the ADF. Last Transmission Report: Indicates whether or when the product prints a report for outgoing faxes. Select Off to turn off report printing, select On Error to print reports only when an error occurs, or select On Send to print reports for every fax you send. MenuSetting ItemDescription Communication Dial Mode: Indicates the type of phone system to which you have connected the product. Depending on the region, this setting may not be displayed. DRD: Indicates the type of answer ring pattern you want to use to receive faxes. To select an option other than All (or Off), you must set up your phone system to use different ring patterns. This option may be On or Off depending on the region. ECM: Indicates whether or not to use Error Correction Mode to automatically correct fax data sent/received with errors due to the line or any other problems. Color faxes cannot be sent/received when ECM is off. V.34: Indicates the speed at which you transmit and receive faxes. On is 33.6 Kbps and Off is 14.4 Kbps. Rings to Answer: Indicates the number of rings that must occur before the product automatically receives a fax. Depending on the region, this setting may not be displayed. Dial Tone Detection: When this is set to On, the product starts dialing after it detects a dial tone. It may not be able to detect a dial tone when a PBX (Private Branch Exchange) or a TA (Terminal Adapter) is connected. In that case, set to Off. However, doing so may drop the first digit of a fax number and send the fax to the wrong number.
