I Enter a name to identify the speed dial entry. You can enter up to 30 characters. Setting up group dial entries You can add speed dial entries to a group, allowing you to se nd a fax to multiple recipients at the same time. Up to 60 combined speed dial and group dial entries can be entered. Follow the instructions below to add speed dial entries to a group. Note: ❏ Use FAX Utility to change the setting to save the received fa x as a data file. Sending a fax at a specified time Follow the instructions below to send a fax at a specified time. Use the l, r, u, or d buttons to change the LCD screen view to find the menu, setting item, or option you want to enter. G Set the time that you want to send the fax, and then press OK. H Press y Back to return to the fax send screen. I Press the x Start (B&W) button to reserve a fax. Note: If you need to cancel faxing at the time you specified, press y Stop/Reset. Sending a fax from a connected phone If the recipient has the same number for both phone and fax, you can send a fax after talking over the phone without hanging up. D Press one of the x Start buttons to send fax. E Hang up the phone. Receiving Faxes Receiving faxes automatically The product automatically receives and prints faxes in Auto Answer mode. Note: ❏Depending on the Fax Output settings, the received fax is saved as a data or printed. & “Changing Fax Output setting to print” on page 103 ❏If Fax Output is set to Save, the received fax data is automatically saved as data, and you can skip step 1. A Load A4-size plain paper. & “Loading Paper” on page 25 B Press Auto Answer to turn on the Auto Answer mode. Note: ❏When an answering machine is connected directly to this product, make sure you set Rings to Answer correctly using the following procedure. ❏Depending on the region, Rings to Answer may be unavailable. C Enter F Setup mode. D Select Fax Settings. E Select Communication. F Select Rings to Answer. G Press u or d to select the number of rings, and then press OK. c Caution: Select more rings than needed for the answering machine to pick up. If it is set to pick up on the fourth ring, set the product to pick up on the fifth ring or later. Otherwise the answering machine cannot receive voice calls. Note: When you receive a call and the other party is a fax, the product receives the fax automatically even if the answering machine picks up the call. If you pick up the phone, wait until the LCD screen displays a message saying that a connection has been made before you hang up. If the other party is a caller, the phone can be used as normal or a message can be left on the answering machine. Receiving faxes manually If your phone is connected to the product, and Auto Answer mode has been set to Off, you can receive fax data after the connection is made.
