Loading Envelopes in the Paper Source2-38 Loading and Outputting Paper 2 •When printing envelopes of the Envelope B5 size, close the flaps and load them so that the printing side is facing up and the envelopes are printed from the top (the edge with the flap). ( : Feeding direction) NOTE Load envelopes in Cassette 2 (Only when the optional paper feeder is installed) in the same manner as you load envelopes in Cassette 1. 1Pull out the paper cassette. CAUTION Be sure to take the paper cassette out of the printer before loading paper. If paper is loaded while the paper cassette is partially pulled out, the paper cassette may drop or the printer may become damaged resulting in personal injury.
2-39 Loading and Outputting Paper 2 Loading Envelopes in the Paper Source 2Place the stack of envelopes on a flat surface, flatten them to release any remaining air, and be sure that the edges are pressed tightly. CAUTION When loading paper, take care not to cut your hands with the edges of the paper. 3Loosen any stiff corners of the envelopes and flatten curls as shown in the figure. 4Align the edges of the envelopes on a flat surface.

IMPORTANT •Up to approximately 10 envelopes can be loaded in the paper cassette. •You cannot print on the reverse side (glued side) of envelopes. 6While holding the lock release lever of the side paper guides, slide the guides to the mark for the size of the loaded envelopes. The side paper guides move together.

If the paper guides are too loose or too tight, this may result in misfeeds or paper jams. 7While holding the lock release lever of the rear paper guide, slide the guide to the size mark for the loaded envelopes.
Loading Envelopes in the Paper Source2-42 Loading and Outputting Paper 2 8Hold down the envelopes as shown in the figure, make sure that the stack does not exceed the load limit marks (A), and then set it under the hooks (B) on the paper guides. Make sure that there is sufficient space between the hooks of the paper guides and the stack of the envelopes. If there is no sufficient space, slightly reduce the amount of the envelopes. 9Set the paper cassette in the printer. Push the paper cassette into the printer firmly until the front side of the cassette is flush with the front surface of the printer. (A)(B) (A)(B) (B)

This printers paper cassette cannot automatically detect the paper size. Therefore, you need to register the size of the loaded paper. 11Display the Printer Status Window. For details on methods for displaying the Printer Status Window, see Displaying the Printer Status Window, on p. 4-88. 12From the [Options] menu, select [Device Settings] [Register Paper Size in Cassettes]. 13Select the size of the paper loaded in the paper cassette, then click [OK]. Next, configure the printer driver (See p. 2-59).
Loading Envelopes in the Paper Source2-44 Loading and Outputting Paper 2 Loading an Envelope in the Manual Feed Slot Load an envelope in the manual feed slot using the following procedure. •When loading an envelope at sizes of DL, COM10, C5, or Monarch in the manual feed slot, be sure to load it in portrait orientation so that the printing side is facing down and the flap is toward the right of the printer when viewed from the front. ( : Feeding direction) •When printing an envelope of the Envelope B5 size, close the flap and load it so that the printing side is facing down and the envelope is printed from the top (the edge with the flap). When the envelope is loaded, it is sent into the slot a little. CAUTION When loading paper, take care not to cut your hands with the edges of the paper. 2-47 Loading and Outputting Paper 2 Loading Custom Size Paper (Non-Standard Paper) in the Paper Source Loading Custom Size Paper (Non-Standard Paper) in the Paper Source This section describes the procedure for loading custom size paper in the paper source. The paper source that you can load custom size paper is the paper cassette and manual feed slot. If you want to print continuously, load the custom size paper in the paper cassette. When printing only a sheet of custom size paper that is different in size or type from the one loaded in the paper cassette, load the custom size paper in the manual feed slot. Custom size paper that is 76.2 mm to 215.9 mm wide and 127.0 mm to 355.6 mm long can be loaded.
