Changing the Paper Size from A5
Follow the steps below to remove the A5 spacer, and then load a different paper size into the paper tray.
Load paper into the optional Tray Module the same way.
1Gently pull out the paper tray until it stops.
2Hold the tray with both hands as you lift the front 
slightly and pull it completely out of the printer.
Place the paper tray on a flat surface.

4Grip the A5 spacer as you gently lift it up while 
pulling it forward and removing it from its position 
next to the paper guide.
5Insert the A5 spacer into its storage slot in the paper 
tray.
6Gently lift the end paper guide to move it, and insert 
the pins at the bottom of the guide in the holes 
(indicated by the   mark) corresponding to the 
paper size that you want to load.

8Align the side guides with the edges of the paper.
Pushing the paper guides too hard against the 
edges of the paper stack can cause a paper jam. 
However, if the paper guides are too loose, the 
paper may twist as it feeds through the printer.
9Hold the paper tray with both hands as you align it 
with the opening in the printer and gently place it in 
the printer.
10Push the paper tray completely back into the printer.

11When printing on A4 or Letter size paper, lift the

Load Paper into the Multi-purpose Tray
Follow the steps below to load paper into the multi-purpose tray.
To avoid paper jams, do not load paper of different sizes into the multi-purpose tray at the same time 
and do not refill the tray before it is empty.

3All stacks of print media, plain paper, 
transparencies, label sheets, and envelopes, need 
to be fanned before loading so there is air between 
the sheets.
Fanning the stack helps prevent paper jams.
■Fan all media before loading.
■If the paper is poorly cut and the edges are not 
clean, remove the unsuitable sheets before 
loading the paper stack.

Printing on Envelopes, Transparencies, 
and Custom-size (Long) Paper
Take care when selecting the settings for envelopes, because choosing them incorrectly may result in 
printed side or text direction errors.
When printing on transparencies or specialty paper, make sure that you select the type of paper in the 
printer driver setting and image quality before sending the print command.

1Adjust the paper guide to the mark for the size of envelope you are about to use.

Printing on Transparencies
Use the multi-purpose tray to print transparencies.
■Use only the recommended type of transparencies (3M CG3300). Do not use any other type, 
such as color transparencies (bordered with a white frame).
■Using unsuitable transparencies can cause damage to the printer.
■Do not use transparencies bordered with a white frame.
■Remove each transparency sheet from the face down output tray as soon as it is printed. When

Printing Custom-size Paper
Using the multi-purpose tray enables you to print custom-size paper or long paper, longer than legal 
portrait (355.6 mm (14 in.)).
The paper sizes suitable for use with this printer are as follows:
■Single-sided printing: Width 90.0-215.9 mm (3.5 - 8.5 in.); Length 139.7-900.0 mm (5.5 - 35.4 in.)
■Duplex printing: Width 149-215.9 mm (5.8 - 8.5 in.); Length 210-355.6 mm (8.2 - 14 in.)
