Troubleshooting and routine maintenance 119 C cRelease the gray lock lever (1) that is on the left side of the machine. Lift the front of the drum unit and pull the drum unit completely out of the machine using the green handles on the drum unit. CAUTION Hold the handles of drum unit when you carry it. DO NOT hold the sides of the drum unit. We recommend that you place the drum unit on a clean, flat surface with a piece of disposable paper underneath it in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner. If toner scatters on your hands or clothes, wipe or wash it off with cold water at once. To prevent damage to the machine from static electricity, DO NOT touch the electrodes shown in the illustration. 1
120 dHold the green parts of the belt unit with both hands and lift the belt unit up, then pull it out. CAUTION We recommend that you place the belt unit on a clean, flat surface with a piece of disposable paper underneath it in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner. eRemove the waste toner box from the machine using the green handle. Note Discard the used waste toner box according to local regulations, keeping it separate from domestic waste. If you have questions, call your local waste disposable office. fUnpack the new waste toner box and put the new one in the machine using the green handle.

Push down on the green area of the belt unit to lock it in place. hPut the drum unit back in the machine as follows. 1Make sure that the gray lock lever (1) is in the up position and put the drum unit in the machine. Push down the gray lock lever (1). 1 1
122 Note When you put the drum unit in the machine, match the green guides (1) of the drum unit handle to the green arrows (2) on both sides of the machine. 2Push the drum unit in until it stops. iClose the front cover of the machine. 2 1 2 1
Troubleshooting and routine maintenance 123 C Packing and shipping the machine C If for any reason you must move or ship your machine, carefully re-pack the machine in the original packing material to avoid any damage during transport. If you do not pack the machine properly, you could void your warranty. The machine should be adequately insured with the carrier. If the machine must be shipped, please read the instructions in this section which explains how to properly prepare your machine for transport. WARNING Once your machine has been set up and used, we do not recommend that it be moved or shipped unless absolutely necessary. Color laser printers are complex printing devices. Moving the machine or shipping it without properly removing the installed supplies can result in SEVERE damage to the machine. As a result, your machine may not operate properly afterwards. Failure to properly prepare the machine for shipping according to the instructions in this section may VOID YOUR WARRANTY. To prevent injuries when moving or lifting this machine, make sure at least two people lift the machine together. Be careful not to pinch your fingers when you put the machine down. Make sure that you have the following parts for repacking: 1 Insertion sheet for repacking 2 Plastic bag for the waste toner box 3 Orange protective cover and plastic bag that the toner cartridge originally came in (4 pieces of each) 4 Orange packing material for locking the drum unit and the belt unit (4 pieces) 5 A piece of paper (Letter or A4) to protect the belt unit (supplied by the user) 6 Joints for attaching cartons (4 pieces)
124 Repacking the machineC aTurn off the machine’s power switch, and unplug all the cables from the machine. Unplug the power cord from the AC power outlet. bPress the front cover release button and then open the front cover. cHold the green handle of the drum unit. Lift the drum unit up and then pull it out until it stops.

Repeat this for all of the toner cartridges. CAUTION We recommend that you place the toner cartridges on a clean, flat surface with a piece of disposable paper underneath them in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner. fAttach the original orange protective cover to each of the toner cartridges. Place each of the toner cartridges into the plastic bag that the cartridge originally came in. 1

Push down the gray lock lever (1). 1 1
