    Get apps and games designed for Android smartphones and install them on your BlackBerry device
    using the Amazon Appstore!
    Create an Amazon account or sign in with your existing Amazon account to search for apps and
    download apps from the Amazon Appstore.
    After you download an app from the Amazon Appstore, tap  Install at the top of the screen. You can also
    check out the  Help screen in the Amazon Appstore for more info.
    DownloadingandinstallingAndroidappsfromothersources In addition to using BlackBerry World and the Amazon Appstore to download apps and games, you can
    also get Android apps and games from various third-party websites and mobile market apps. Most websites and mobile market apps include an installation button that appears after you download an
    Android app file. You can also install an app file by opening it in the File Manager app on your BlackBerry
    device.
    If you canht find an app file that you downloaded, you can search for the app name in the File Manager app. Most Android apps include the file name extension .apk. To search for all the Android app files thatyou downloaded, try searching the File Manager app for  apk.
    CAUTION:
    Apps that you install from sources other than BlackBerry World might not be reviewed by BlackBerry.
    These apps might pose a risk to your device and personal data. You should only install apps from
    trusted sources.
    While most apps designed for Android smartphones can be installed and opened on BlackBerry devices,
    some apps might make use of services that are not supported by BlackBerry 10 OS. BlackBerry 10 OS
    might also replace these services with alternate services (such as mapping services).
    If you donht want to accept these potential risks and limitations, you should not install apps from sourcesother than BlackBerry World.

    1. On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.

    In Android apps, you can show or hide an action bar at the bottom of the screen or you can quickly go
    back to the previous screen.
    Do any of the following:
    t To see the additional actions that you can perform, in an app, swipe down from the top of the screen.
    t To show or hide the action bar at the bottom of the screen, swipe down from the top of the screen. Tap  Show  or Hide .
    t To go back to the previous screen, place your finger below and halfway across the screen. Slide your finger diagonally up and to the left.

    You can use the GPS feature on your BlackBerry device to search for a specific address or a type oflocation and view the results on the map.
    1. In the Maps app, in the  search field, enter an address or a descriptive word, such as "coffee" or
    "hospital."
    2. Do one of the following:
    t To view all of the search results as pins on the map, press the  Enter key.
    t To view a specific search result as a pin on the map, tap a search result.
    3. On the map, to view more information about the location, including phone numbers and reviews, tap
    the location name.
    4. To get directions, next to a search result or location, tap 
    .
    Tip: When you search for a type of location, for example "gas stations," and you view all of the search
    results as pins on the map, you can view a detailed list of the types of gas stations and information
    about each location. To view the list, after you view the search results as pins on the map, in the upper-
    right corner of the screen, tap

    							PinaplaceonamapIn BlackBerry Maps, you can add pins to your map to track where youhre going or to mark points ofinterest.
    In the Maps app, do one of the following:
    t On the map screen, touch and hold the place that you want to pin.
    t On the search results screen, tap a search result.
    To clear all of the pins from a map, on the map screen, tap

    Getdirections Verify that location services are turned on and that your BlackBerry device has established a GPS
    connection.
    1. In the Maps app, find a place by doing one of the following:
    t On the map screen, search for an address or a place using the search field. In the search results, tap a place.
    t On the map screen, locate a pin that you added to the map. Tap the pin. t On the map screen, tap 
     > . Tap  Recents , Favorites , or Contacts . Tap an address, a place,
    or a contact.

    3. To begin receiving turn-by-turn directions, tap

    To stop turn-by-turn directions in the map view or detail view, tap

    By default, turn-by-turn directions start with the street-level view of the route.
    To switch to one of the high-level views, do one of the following:

    Changeyourroutepreferences You can change your route preferences while viewing or listening to turn-by-turn directions in BlackBerryMaps. You can set your route to avoid toll roads, highways, car-sharing lanes, or ferries. You can also set the type of route that you want to take (fastest, simplest, or shortest).
    1. In the Maps app, swipe down from the top of the screen.
    2. Tap 
     > RouteOptions .
    3. Turn on the switches for the types of things that you want to avoid. Tap the type of route that you
    want to take.
    Recalculateroutes
    While viewing or listening to turn-by-turn directions, you can manually recalculate your directions when
    you make a wrong turn or would like alternative directions.
    1. If you are in the street-level view, to show the navigation bar, tap the screen.

    Myplaces In BlackBerry Maps, you can find your favorites, recent places, and contactsh places on the  MyPlaces
    tab.

    In BlackBerry Maps, you can add your work and home addresses to save time when planning trips and
    getting directions.
    1. In the Maps app, tap

    Viewyourrecentplaces
    BlackBerry Maps remembers and organizes the last 100 places that you searched for so that you can
    quickly access them again.

    Clearyourrecentplaces
    You can clear the list of recently viewed places in BlackBerry Maps.
    Tip: If you have places that you want to keep so that you donht have to search for them again, add them
    as a favorite before you permanently clear the list.

    t To delete your history, recent destinations, and searches, tap  ClearRecents.

    kilometers) measurements, as set in your device settings.

    If you always want BlackBerry Maps to show you the fastest or shortest route, or want to avoid certain
    things on your route, such as highways, toll roads, car-sharing lanes, or ferries, you can change your
    default settings.

    							AboutlocationservicesYou can turn on location services so that location-based applications and services, like BlackBerry
    Maps, can find your location. Location-based applications can use GPS technology and other
    information to provide you with information, such as driving directions.

    1. On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
    2. Tap 
     Settings  > 
    LocationServices .
    3. Turn on or turn off the  LocationServices switch.
    Changelocationpermissionsforapps You can review and remove any GPS location-related permissions that individual apps have requested.
    Some apps require specific permissions to work as expected.

    You can choose to navigate with your compass using either true north or magnetic north. Magnetic
    north, which is what a standard compass points to, can be influenced by several factors and isnht
    constant. True north, or geographical north, is what you would see on a paper map and is constant. If
    you would prefer to navigate based on true north (for example, if you are using your compass to follow a
    map) you must turn on GPS.
    In the compass app, do one of the following:
    t To navigate based on true north, at the bottom of the screen, turn on the switch.
    t To navigate based on magnetic north, at the bottom of the screen, turn off the switch.
    Troubleshooting:Compass IhmnotgettinganaccuratereadingfromthecompassTry the following actions:
    t If the compass doesnht point north, move your BlackBerry device away from metal objects, such as magnets or electronics.
    t If you have turned on Location Services and are navigating based on true north, you need the GPS receiver to be able to connect to GPS satellites. Try moving outside or near a window in order to
    establish a GPS connection.
    IhmseeingtheinterferenceindicatorwhenItrytousethecompass
    The interference indicator appears on the screen when something is interfering with the compass on
    your BlackBerry device.
    Try the following action:
    t Move your device away from metal, then rotate and tilt your device until the indicator disappears.

    BrowsingtheInternet Use the BlackBerry Browser to browse the Internet quickly and conveniently on your BlackBerry device.

    1. Type a web address or search term into the address bar at the bottom of the BlackBerry Browser.
