To use a word that appears on the BlackBerry Keyboard, place your finger just below the word and flick
it up onto the screen.

where
word
suggestions
appear
By default, word suggestions appear on the BlackBerry Keyboard so that you donht have to look above
where youhre typing to see the suggestions. If you have difficulty selecting the suggestions, or you find
the Keyboard looks cluttered, you can set the suggestions to appear above the Keyboard instead.
1. On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.

Mode  drop-down lists, choose how you want the word
suggestions to appear.

t To turn off word suggestions, tap  Off.
When you set word suggestions to appear above your Keyboard, you can use the suggestion by flicking
up from anywhere directly beneath the word you want to use.

your

dictionary
When you use spell check you can add words that are marked as incorrect to a custom dictionary on your BlackBerry device so that spell check recognizes them as being correct. The words that you add to

then you might not be able to show the BlackBerry Keyboard.
To show the Keyboard, disconnect the other input device and try again.
Language If you speak more than one language, you can use the language settings to change your display, typing,voice input, or BlackBerry Keyboard language. You can also switch to another typing language while you
type.

You must set up more keyboard languages before you can switch between languages. If you set up multiple languages that use the same keyboard layout (Such as QWERTY, AZERTY, or QUERTZ), your
BlackBerry device automatically detects words in each language.
1. At the beginning of a new line of text, tap

2. Tap the language you want to type in on your BlackBerry Keyboard.
If you set up two languages that use different keyboard layouts, the language and default keyboard layout automatically switches to the other layout. If you set up three languages that use different
keyboard layouts, your device automatically cycles to the next language in the list that has a different
default keyboard layout. In both cases, your device recognizes words from all the keyboard languages you set up.
Keyboard
input
methods
An input method enables you to type words or characters that are not available using the characters on
your keyboard layout. In some cases, input methods give you a phonetic approximation of a word based on the keyboard layout you are using. Your device can then suggest a character or diacritic based on the
sound you choose.
In other cases, input methods provide you with gestures and key combinations for languages. Some
keyboard input methods are common to all supported languages, such as word prediction or selecting
accented characters by pressing and holding keys.
Typing
in
other
languages
You can set your BlackBerry device to recognize three different input languages when you type. As you type, your device makes predictions based on each of the language families. For example, if you use a
Latin-based display language, predictions appear for any of the configured Latin-based languages. Similarly, if your display language is Korean, it will not display Arabic or Latin-based suggestions. When
you set more than one typing language, you may need to consider the following:
t Some languages, such as Thai and Arabic, have more characters in the alphabet than there are keys on the keyboard. You need to use a keystroke combination to access the second or third character
on a particular key. For information about how to access these types of characters, see the help for typing in that language.
t Different languages may have different keyboard layouts. For example, American English uses a QWERTY keyboard layout, but French uses an AZERTY keyboard layout. Some keys appear inlocations that you may not be used to.
t Similar languages may have slightly different keyboard layouts. For example, many languages use a QWERTY keyboard layout. However, Danish, Spanish, and Romanian include different characters on
the basic keyboard that arenht on other QWERTY keyboard layouts.

							t Some supported languages, such as Hebrew, Farsi, and Arabic, read right-to-left. If you change toone of these languages from a left-to-right language in the middle of a sentence, your device
automatically places the characters you type on the left side of the cursor. When you change back to
the left-to-right language, you need to move your cursor back to the right side of the text.

Farsi The Arabic and Farsi keyboard layouts support the following features:
t The Arabic language has more characters in the alphabet than there are keys on the keyboard. As a result, more than one native character appears on one key. There may be alternate letters that arerelated to a primary letter or have a similar form. second and third characters on each key.
