FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM 8-68 Fault code No. 59 Symptom Throttle position sensor (for throttle cable pulley): open or short circuit detected. Throttle position sensor (for throttle cable pulley): coupler connection is loose. Diagnostic code No. 14 15Throttle position sensor (for throttle cable pulley) signal 1 Throttle position sensor (for throttle cable pulley) signal 2 Order Item/components and probable causeCheck or maintenance job Reinstatement method 1 Installed state of throttle position sen- sor (for throttle cable pulley).•Check for looseness or pinch- ing. •Check that the sensor is in- stalled in the specified position.Turning the main switch to “ON”. 2 Connections •Throttle position sensor (for throttle cable pulley) coupler •Main wire harness ECU coupler•Check the couplers for any pins that may be pulled out. •Check the locking condition of the couplers. •If there is a malfunction, repair it and connect the coupler se- curely. 3 Open or short circuit in wire harness.•Repair or replace if there is an open or short circuit. •Between throttle position sen- sor (for throttle cable pulley) coupler and ECU coupler. (black/blue–black/blue) (white–white) (white/red–white/red) (blue–blue) 4 Defective throttle position sensor (for throttle cable pulley).•Execute the diagnostic mode. FUEL PUMP SYSTEM 8-75 EAS27570 TROUBLESHOOTING If the fuel pump fails to operate. NOTE: •Before troubleshooting, remove the following part(s): 1. Rider seat 2. Fuel tank 3. Side cowlings NG → OK ↓ NG → OK ↓ NG → OK ↓ NG → OK ↓ NG → OK ↓ NG → OK ↓ NG → OK ↓ 1. Check the fuses. (Main, ignition and fuel injection system) Refer to “CHECKING THE FUS- ES” on page 8-85.Replace the fuse(s). 2. Check the battery. Refer to “CHECKING AND CHARGING THE BATTERY” on page 8-86.•Clean the battery terminals. •Recharge or replace the battery. 3. Check the main switch. Refer to “CHECKING THE SWITCHES” on page 8-81.Replace the main switch. 4. Check the engine stop switch. Refer to “CHECKING THE SWITCHES” on page 8-81.Replace the right handlebar switch. 5. Check the relay unit (fuel pump re- lay). Refer to “CHECKING THE RE- LAYS” on page 8-89.Replace the relay unit. 6. Check the fuel pump. Refer to “CHECKING THE FUEL PUMP” on page 8-98.Replace the fuel pump. 7. Check the entire fuel pump sys- tem’s wiring. Refer to “CIRCUIT DIAGRAM” on page 8-73.Properly connect or repair the fuel pump system’s wiring. Replace the ECU.
