Adjusting Density and Color Balance 4-8 vDocuPrint NC60 System Administrator Guide Adjusting Density and Color Balance You may notice, over the course of using the printer, that colors may change. For example, reds may begin to take on a purple cast, or blues may take on a green cast. This happens during the normal use of a color printer and can be easily remedied by using the Density/Color Balance Adjustment procedure described in this section. This procedure, which should be done monthly, will help correct any color shifts. This Control Panel procedure involves printing a test page and adjusting the densities and colors based on the appearance of the Test Page. You may need to repeat this procedure and test your adjustments until you achieve the desired effect. If, during the adjustment process, you decide to return to your starting point; you can do so by selecting Cancel Changes from the Color Adjust Menu. Downloaded From ManualsPrinter.com Manuals

Adjusting Density and Color Balance 4-10 vDocuPrint NC60 System Administrator Guide Interpreting the Te s t P r i n tThe Color Balance test print contains numbered images that indicate possible adjustments that can be made, as shown in Figure 4.2. You can choose to make an adjustment to the Color Density, the Black Density, or the Color Balance. (While Figure 4.2 is in black and white, the actual Color Balance test page is in full color.) The Color Density Images, numbered -3CMY...0,...+3CMY and the current setting show a lightness/darkness range of three color gray 30% halftones. The Black Density Images, numbered -3K...0,...+3K and the current setting show a lightness/darkness range of black only 30% halftones. The Color Balance Images, numbered 0,10,11,...21 and the current setting, show variations of three color gray. Each of these circles contains gray with tints of other colors. Adjusting Density and Color Balance Chapter 4: Maintaining the Printer v4-11 What To Look ForThere are basically three things to look for in examining the test print. 1. The Color Density and the Black Density are a matter of taste. The 30% halftones can be used to judge the current level and decide on a preference. 2. The Color Density and Black Density should be at approximately the same level. This is important in order to make the Color Balance adjustment. 3. The correct Color Balance is determined by comparing the circle in the center of the Color Balance object marked “CURRENT” with the gray background. The background is produced using black only and the circles are produced using a combination of cyan, magenta, and yellow. The adjustment objective is for the “CURRENT” circle to be the closest gray of any of the circles when compared to the background. Downloaded From ManualsPrinter.com Manuals
