Replacing Consumables 59 Maintenance 3 3Lift up the release lever of the drum cartridge, and slide the drum cartridge out until you can lift the handle on top of the drum cartridge. 4Hold the handle and remove the cartridge from the machine. Important •Be sure to hold the drum cartridge by its handle when removing it out of the machine. If you do not hold it by its handle, it might fall out of the machine and soil the floor. 5Remove the new drum cartridge from the box. Important •Do not place the new drum cartridge in an upright position. • Return used drum cartridges to our Customer Support Center. 6Place the drum cartridge on a flat surface. Undo the sealing tape as shown, and carefully pull it out to remove the protective sheet out of the cartridge. Important • Be sure to pull the protective sheet out straight and horizontally. If it is pulled out obliquely, it may tear before it is completely out of the cartridge. • After pulling out the protective sheet, do not shake the drum cartridge or handle it roughly. 7Hold the drum cartridge by its handle and slide it into the machine until it comes to a stop. 3 Maintenance 60 Maintenance 3 8Pull out the cartridge tape straight toward you and horizontally without tearing. Important •Be sure to pull the tape out straight and horizontally. If the tape is pulled out obliquely, it may tear before it is completely out of the cartridge. 9Push the drum cartridge again so that it is correctly placed. 10Close the Cover A tightly. 11Close the Tray 5 (bypass). 12Close the front cover. Note •A message will be displayed and the machine will not operate if the front cover is not completely closed. Replacing Staple Cartridge (for Finisher-A1) When the optional Finisher-A1 is installed and the staple cartridge needs to be replaced, a message appears on the touch screen. When this message appears, load a new staple case into the staple cartridge. Important •The use of staple cartridges not recommended by Fuji Xerox may degrade quality and performance. Use only staple cartridges recommended by Fuji Xerox. Note •You need to pull the staple cartridge strongly as the staple cartridge is firmly set. 3After you take out the staple cartridge, check inside of the finisher for any remaining staples. 4Pinch both sides of the empty staple case with your fingers ( c), and remove the staple case from the cartridge ( d). 5Insert the front side of the new staple case into the staple cartridge ( c), and then push the rear side into the cartridge ( d). 6Push the staple cartridge into the finisher until it clicks into place. 7Close the finisher front cover. 3 Maintenance 62 Maintenance 3 Replacing Staple Cartridge (for Finisher-B1) When the optional Finisher-B1 is installed and the staple cartridge needs to be replaced, a message appears on the touch screen. When this message appears, load a new staple case into the staple cartridge. Important •The use of staple cartridges not recommended by Fuji Xerox may degrade quality and performance. Use only staple cartridges recommended by Fuji Xerox. Note • To order a staple cartridge, contact our Customer Support Center. 1Make sure that the machine is not operating, and open the finisher front cover. 2Grasp the handle and pull out the staple cartridge holder to the right, towards you. 3Take the staple cartridge out of the finisher. Note •The staple cartridge is firmly inserted. A slight force is required to pull the cartridge out of the finisher. 4Pinch both sides of the empty staple case with your fingers ( c), and remove the staple case from the cartridge ( d). Replacing Consumables 63 Maintenance 3 5Insert the front side of the new staple case into the staple cartridge ( c), and then push the rear side into the cartridge ( d). 6Push the staple cartridge into the finisher until it clicks into place. 7Close the finisher front cover. Note • If the front cover is not completely closed, a message will appear and the machine will remain paused. Replacing Staple Cartridge (for Booklet Maker Unit for Finisher-B1) When the optional Booklet Maker Unit for Finisher-B1 is installed and the staple cartridge needs to be replaced, a message appears on the touch screen. When this message appears, load a new staple case into the staple cartridge. Important •The use of staple cartridges not recommended by Fuji Xerox may degrade quality and performance. Use only staple cartridges recommended by Fuji Xerox. Note • To order a staple cartridge, contact our Customer Support Center. 1Make sure that the machine is not operating, and open the side cover of the booklet maker unit for Finisher-B1. 2Hold the tabs on both sides of the staple cartridge and pull the cartridge out of the finisher. 3 Maintenance 64 Maintenance 3 3Hold the tabs on both sides of a new staple cartridge, and insert it into the original posi- tion until it clicks. 4Repeat steps 2 and 3 to replace the other staple cartridge. 5Close the side cover of the booklet maker unit for Finisher-B1. Note •If the cover is not completely closed, a message will appear and the machine remain paused. Emptying Punch Waste Container (for Finisher-B1) When the optional Finisher-B1 is installed and the hole punch waste container becomes full, a message appears on the touch screen. When the message appears, empty the hole punch waste container as instructed. Make sure to discard all paper chads when emptying the hole punch waste container. Not doing so will cause the container to fill up before the message telling you to empty the container appears again, and this can cause machine malfunction. Important •Empty the hole punch waste container when the machine is on. If you empty the container while the machine is off, the machine does not recognize that the container has been emptied. 1Make sure that the machine is not operating, lift the top transport cover, and then open the front transport cover of the finisher. 2Pull out the hole punch waste container. Replacing Consumables 65 Maintenance 3 3Empty the container. 4Insert the emptied hole punch waste container into the finisher until it stops. 5Close the front transport cover, and then close the top transport cover of the finisher. Note •If the cover is not completely closed, a message will appear and the machine remain paused. Replacing Stamp If the machine offers the Fax service and the Stamp Kit (optional) is installed, replace the stamp cartridge when stamp impressions start to fade. Important •Do not touch the ink pad of the stamp cartridge as the ink may be adhered to the pad. If it comes into contact with your skin, wash immediately. • Problems caused by using consumables not recommended by Fuji Xerox are not covered by the maintenance service contract. • Before using consumables, carefully read instructions and precautions on their packages. Note • We recommend always keeping spare consumables/periodic replacement parts in stock. • To order consumables, contact our Customer Support Center. 3 Maintenance 66 Maintenance 3 2Pull up the lever to open the inner cover. 3Stick the supplied pin into the old stamp cartridge, and pull it straight out of the machine. Note •If only the sponge part of the stamp cartridge is removed, make sure of removing the bottom part of the cartridge. 4Insert the new stamp cartridge. 5Close the inner cover of the document feeder. 6Close the left cover of the document feeder until it clicks into place, and confirm that there is no space between the near or far side of the cover and the document feeder. Replacing Fusing Unit When the fusing unit is near or reaches the end of its life, the following messages are displayed on the touch screen. Follow the messages. Message Remaining Page Yield Solution Consumables need to be ordered. Press Machine Status button and select the Supplies tab for details.Approx. 3,500 pages Order the fusing unit. Replacing Consumables 67 Maintenance 3 1Switch off the power, and then switch off the main power. For information on how to switch off the power and the main power, refer to 2 Product Overview > Power Source in the User Guide. 2Wait for 40 minutes for the fusing unit to cool down. 3Open Tray 5 (c), and then while lifting up the release lever ( d) gently open the top left cover ( e). 4Loosen the screws on both sides of the fusing unit completely. 5Hold the fusing unit by the grips on both sides, and remove the fusing unit from the machine. Important • The fusing unit weights approximately 2.5 kg. Be careful not to drop the unit. 6Take out a new fusing unit from the box. 7Hold the new fusing unit by the grips on both sides, and then place the fusing unit onto the machine. Important •Hold the fusing unit with both hands so that you do not drop it. CAUTION Fusing Unit Safety When removing the fusing unit, always switch off first and wait for 40 minutes until it cools off. Downloaded From ManualsPrinter.com Manuals
3 Maintenance 68 Maintenance 3 8While holding the fusing unit with one hand, tighten the screws on both sides with the other hand. 9Push the center of the top left cover and close the cover gently, and then close Tray 5. 10Switch on the main power, and then switch on the power.
