Connec t the transmit and rec eive c ab les tog ether using the fib er op tic c oup ler (Comc od e 407643014, p rovided in Maintenanc e Kit #30) to c reate a loop as shown in Fig ure 2-19 . Figure 2-19. Manual loopback with fiber optic coupling 9. Go to the front of the c ab inet and inspec t the yellow LED. a. If the yellow LED flashes on at a rate of onc e p er sec ond , the Exp ansion Interfac e or Switc h Nod e Interfac e c irc uit p ac k or transc eiver should b e rep lac ed . b . If the yellow LED flashes on at a rate of 5 times p er sec ond , the Exp ansion Interfac e or Switc h Nod e Interfac e c irc uit p ac k or the lig htwave transc eiver may need rep lac ement. This c ond ition may also b e d ue to a faulty system c loc k on the network c ontaining the Exp ansion Interfac e c irc uit pac k or in the switc h nod e c arrier containing the SNI. c . If the yellow LED was b linking b efore starting this proc ed ure and the yellow LED is not b linking now, this c irc uit p ac k (Exp ansion Interfac e or Switc h Nod e Interfac e) and the lig htwave transc eiver are func tioning p rop erly.
