Using the address book
1Place the original document in the automatic document feeder facing up, short-edge first.

1Load the original document in the ADF facing up, short-edge first, and adjust the paper 
guides.
2Touch FTP.
3Enter the FTP site.
4Touch Save as Shortcut.
5Enter a unique name for the shortcut.
6Verify the shortcut name and number are correct, and then touch OK.
If the name or number is incorrect, touch Cancel, and reenter the information.

Content: Tells the MFP the original document type. Choose from Text, Text/Photo, or Photo. Color 
can be turned on or off with any of the Content choices. Content affects the quality and size of your 
FTP file.
Te x t : Emphasizes sharp, black, high-resolution text against a clean, white background.
Text/Photo: Used when the original documents are a mixture of text and graphics or pictures.

Scanning to a PC or USB flash memory 
device
The MFP scanner lets you scan documents directly to your PC or a USB flash memory device.
Your computer does not have to be directly connected to the MFP for you to receive Scan to PC 
images. You can scan the document back to your computer over the network by creating a scan 
profile on your computer and then downloading the profile to the MFP.

Review the instructions on the Scan to PC screen.
A shortcut number was automatically assigned when you clicked Submit. You can use this 
shortcut number when you are ready to scan your documents.

Understanding scan to PC options
To change the options for the scan to PC Profile, you must click the Quick Setup box, and select 
Custom. Quick Setup lets you select preset formats or customize your scan job settings. You can 
select:
Format Type: Sets the output (PDF, TIFF, or JPEG) for the scanned image.
PDF output is a single file.
TIFF output is a single file. If Multi-page TIFF is turned off in the Configuration menu, then 
TIFF saves one page each in a series of files.

scanner glass (flatbed) facing down.
Adjust the paper guides when using the ADF.

Printing from a USB flash memory device
A USB direct interface is located on the control panel so you can insert a USB flash memory device 
and print the following types of documents:
Portable Document Format (PDF) [.pdf file]
Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG) [.jpeg or .jpg file]
Tagged Image File Format (TIFF) [.tiff or .tif file]
Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) [.gif file]
Basic Multilingual Plane (BMP) [.bmp file]

To print from a USB flash memory device:
1Make sure the MFP is on and Ready or Busy appears.
2Insert a USB flash memory device into the USB direct interface.
Note:If you insert the memory device when the MFP requires attention such as when a 
paper jam has occurred, the MFP ignores the memory device. 
3Touch the arrow next to the document you want to print.
A screen asking the number of copies to be printed will appear.
4To print only one copy, touch Print, or touch + to enter the number of copies....
