2.Remove 4screws securing instrument panelto
fascia cowl.
3. Pull instrument panelawayfromfascia and
disconnect speedometer cabletogive easier
access tocontrol cableatbulkhead.
4. Remove retaining screwsandpulloffair
distribution andtemperature controlleverknobs.
5. Remove 3screws anddetach sidecover,
complete withcontrol leverassembly.

Secure controlcablestoengine bulkhead and
heater hoseswithretaining clips.
17. With control leverinclosed position, fitinner
cable tolever clevis andfully tighten clevisgrub
screw.
18. Fitouter cable retaining clipand fully tighten
securing bolt.
19. Fitside cover tocontrol leverassembly. Ensure
fixing screw spacers arepositioned between
cover andlever assembly.
20. Fitside cover tofascia.
21. Fitcontrol leverknobs.
22. Reconnect speedometer cableandfitinstrument...

14. Fitnew control cablethrough heaterductcover
and secure tovent flaptrunnion. Bendover
cable endtofully secure.
15. Fitheater ductcover.
16. Fitlower fascia panelassembly tofascia
bulkhead
See CHASSIS ANDBODY, Repair,
lower fascia panel(heater duct)assembly.
17.Route control cablealong fascia bulkhead to
contol leverassembly.
18. With control leverinclosed position, secure
cable toclevis.
19. Fitouter cable retaining cliptolever assembly.
20. Fitlever assembly...

Release leverassembly anddisconnect 3
blower motorleads, noting theirpositions.
9. Pull control cablethrough bulkhead grommet
and outfrom instrument panelcowl.
10. Release retaining clipsecuring outercable to
lever assembly.
11. Release innercable fromlever peg.
NOTE: Ifthe blower motorswitch isfaulty
the complete leverassembly willhave to
be renewed.
Refit 12. Fitnew control cabletolever assembly peg.
13. Fitretaining cliptosecure outercable.

Description Air conditioning isan optional systemwhichprovides
fully integrated climatecontrolforthe vehicle interior.
The airconditioning systemcomprises fourmajor
units asfollows:- Anevaporator matrixandexpansion
valve (1),housed inthe heater/ coolerunit(3),an
engine mounted compressor (4),acondenser (5), mounted
infront ofthe radiator, andareceiver/drier
(7) located tothe right ofthe condenser.

Operation Evaporator
unitandexpansion valve
High pressure liquidrefrigerant isdelivered tothe
expansion valvewhich isthe controlling deviceforthe
air conditioning system.Asevere pressure drop
occurs acrossthevalve andasthe refrigerant flows
through theevaporator itpicks upheat from the
ambient air,boils andvaporizes. Asthis change of
state occurs, alarge amount oflatent heatis
absorbed. Theevaporator istherefore cooledandas
a result heatisextracted...

Push LHbutton -air towindscreen vents(also
provides someairtothe footwell).
Push middle button-air tofascia vents(alsoprovides
some airtothe footwell).
Push RHbutton -air tofootwell vents(alsoprovides
some airtothe windscreen).
6. Air recirculation switch
Press theLHportion ofthe switch toactivate air
recirculation. PresstheRH portion forfresh air.
NOTE: Prolonged recirculation maycause
the windows tomist up.
