Changing certain system device settings could cause hardware conflicts. You can use the system setup program to: Change your system configuration information after you add, change, or remove hardware connected to or installed inside your computer Verify information about your current computer configuration, such as the amount of system memory Set or change selectable settings—for example, the system password NOTE: When your computer is running the Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition operating system, certain Control Panel settings override system setup program settings. For more information, see “Power Menu” found later in this appendix. Accessing the System Setup Program NOTICE: To avoid data loss, save and close any open files and exit any open application programs before you access the system setup program. To access the system setup program, turn on the computer and press as soon as you see the Dell logo. NOTE: The computer restarts automatically when you exit the system setup program.
