Manuals4-56 Printing a Document 4 Manuals This section describes the procedures for installing or uninstalling the manuals included on the CD-ROM supplied with the printer on the computer you are using. Installing the Manuals Install the manuals in the CD-ROM supplied with the printer on the computer using the following procedure. 1Insert the supplied LBP3000 User Software CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. If the CD-ROM is already in the drive, eject the disk and re-insert it into the drive. IMPORTANT •If you are using Windows Vista and the [AutoPlay] dialog box appears, click [Run AUTORUN.EXE]. •If CD-ROM Setup does not appear, display it using the following procedures. (The CD-ROM drive name is indicated as D: in this manual. The CD-ROM drive name may differ depending on the computer you are using.) -If you are using an operating system other than Windows Vista, select [Run] from the [Start] menu, enter D:\English\MInst.exe, and then click [OK]. -If you are using Windows Vista, enter D:\English\MInst.exe in [Start Search] under the [Start] menu, and then press the [ENTER] key on your keyboard. NOTE If you are using Windows Vista and the [User Account Control] dialog box appears, click [Allow].

To see the manuals, double-click [LBP3000 Online Manuals] created on the desktop to display respective manuals or select [Canon LBP3000] - [LBP3000 Online Manuals] added to [All Programs] ([Programs] for Windows 98/Me/2000) under the [Start] menu.
Manuals4-59 Printing a Document 4 Uninstalling the Manuals The installed manuals can also be uninstalled by uninstalling the CAPT software using the Uninstaller. For details on uninstalling the CAPT software, see Uninstalling the CAPT software, on p. 3-75. When uninstalling only the manuals without uninstalling the CAPT software, delete the following. •\Program Files\Canon\LBP3000 -Manuals folder •Right-click [Canon LBP3000] in [All Programs] ([Programs] for Windows 98/Me/ 2000) under the [Start] menu, then select [Delete] from the pop-up menu. •Desktop -[LBP3000 Online Manuals] (Shortcut for [Index.pdf]) IMPORTANT If the manuals are installed on Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista logged on by a user who is a member of Administrators, they cannot be uninstalled from the computer logged on by anyone other than users who are members of Administrators. Be sure to log on as a member of Administrators before the uninstallation. NOTE If you are using Windows Vista and the [Destination Folder Access Denied] dialog box appears, click [Continue]. (If the [User Account Control] dialog box appears, click [Continue].)
Printer Status Window4-60 Printing a Document 4 Printer Status Window The Printer Status Window shows status information about the LBP3000 (such as operating status and job information) using messages, animations, sounds, and icons. NOTE In order to use the sounds, your computer must be equipped with a PCM synthesizer, and have the driver for the PCM synthesizer installed.
Printer Status Window4-61 Printing a Document 4 Using the Printer Status Window The functionality of the Printer Status Window is the same on both Windows 98/Me and Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista. Refer to the online help for more details on using the Printer Status Window. ■Menu Bar [Job] Menu Used to pause, resume and cancel print jobs. If a job is paused for some reason, you can resume the job by selecting [Resolve Error]. The buttons appears grayed out if you do not have access permissions to the current print job. [Options] Menu Allows you to change the preferences for the Printer Status Window, and clean the fixing rollers on the printer. [Help] Menu Displays the online help. Printer Status Window4-62 Printing a Document 4 ■Other Functions Icon Displays an icon representing the current printer status. Message Area Displays the current printer status using a short message. Message Area (Auxiliary) Displays additional information when an error occurs, etc. Animation Area Displays a graphical representation of the current printer status. The background color is normally blue, but changes to orange when the printer requires some kind of attention, and to red during a warning. Refresh Button Obtains the current printer status and refreshes the Printer Status Window display. Resolve Error Button Allows you to resume a job when the job is paused for some reason. [Current Print Job] Tab Progress Bar: Indicates the progress of the current job by showing the number of pages printed and changing the background color. [Pause Job] Button: Pauses the job temporarily. Job Information Area: Displays the document name, user name, and computer name for the job. [My Job Operation] Tab Job Status Message Area: Displays a message about the status of the job. Job Operation Buttons: Used to pause, resume and cancel print jobs. The buttons appears grayed out if you do not have access permissions to the current print job. Job Information Area: Displays the [Document Name], [User Name], [Computer Name], and status of the job. Status Bar Indicates how the printer is connected (Local or Network). Descriptions of each of the menu items are displayed here as you navigate through the menus.
Printer Status Window4-63 Printing a Document 4 Displaying the Printer Status Window The Printer Status Window can be opened in the following two ways. •Click [ ] (Display Printer Status Window) in locations such as the [Page Setup] sheet in the [Printer Properties] dialog box. •Check the [Show Icon in the Taskbar] box in the [Configuration]/[Device Settings] sheet in the [Printer Properties] dialog box. A Printer Status Window icon is then shown in the Windows Taskbar, and you can click on this icon, then click [Canon LBP3000] to open the window.
Printer Status Window4-64 Printing a Document 4 The Printer Status Window is automatically displayed during printing and if an error occurs. If [Display Printer Status Window] is not set to [When Starting Printing] in the [Preferences] of the [Options] menu in the Printer Status Window, the Printer Status Window will not be displayed during printing. (See Setting Preferences, on p. 4-64.) The Options Menu This menu allows you to change the preferences for the Printer Status Window and clean the fixing rollers on the printer. Setting Preferences The Preferences menu item allows you to display the Printer Status Window automatically, specify the sound settings, and make the Printer Status Window monitor the printer status. ■[Display Printer Status Window] Group •When Starting Printing (Default Value) The Printer Status Window appears automatically each time printing starts. •Only when Errors Occur The Printer Status Window appears automatically only when an error occurs during printing. •Not Display Automatically The Printer Status Window will not automatically appear, even if printing starts or an error occurs. •Always Display on Top The Printer Status Window is always on top of all the other windows on the desktop. ■[Monitor Printer Status] Group •Only while Displaying Printer Status Window (Default Value) The Printer Status Window monitors the printer status only while it is displayed. •Only while Printing The Printer Status Window only monitors the printer status during printing. •Always The Printer Status Window always monitors the printer status. ■[Tone Settings] Group •Enabled All (Default Value) A sound is played whenever a message is displayed. •Enable only when Error Occurs A sound is played only when an error occurs. •Disabled No sounds are played.
