    5Press the   side of the power switch to turn the printer on.
    6Turn the computer on and start up Windows 98/Me.
    The [Add New Hardware Wizard] dialog box appears.
    ●For Windows  Me
    If the following dialog box appears, proceed to Step 7.
    If the following dialog box appears, proceed to Step 14.

    ●For Windows  98
    If the following dialog box appears, click [Next], then proceed to Step 7.
    If the following dialog box appears, click [Next], then proceed to Step 14.
    7Select [Specify the location of the driver (Advanced)], then 
    click [Next].
    For Windows 98: Select [Search for the best driver for your device. 
    (Recommended)], then click [Next].
    A dialog box is displayed that allows you to specify the search location.

    8Insert the supplied LBP3000 User Software CD-ROM into 
    the CD-ROM drive.
    If CD-ROM Setup appears, click [Exit].
    9Select [Search for the best driver for your device. 
    (Recommended).], remove the checkmark from [Removable 
    Media (Floppy, CD-ROM...)], place a checkmark next to 
    [Specify a location].
    For Windows 98: Remove the checkmarks from [Floppy disk drives] and 
    [CD-ROM drive], place a checkmark next to [Specify a location].
    10Click [Browse], and then select a folder.
    For Windows 98: Select [D:\English\USBPORT\Win98], and then click [OK].
    In this case the CD-ROM drive is assumed to be assigned to D:. The actual 
    CD-ROM drive letter may be different depending on the computer you are using.

    11Make sure that the correct path is displayed in the [Specify a 
    location] field, and then click [Next].
    12Click [Next].
    Installation of the USB class driver starts.
    13Click [Finish].
    The computer automatically detects the printer. Please wait a moment.

    The [Add New Hardware Wizard] dialog box appears.
    For Windows 98, click [Next].
    14Select [Specify the location of the driver (Advanced)], then 
    click [Next].
    For Windows 98: Select [Search for the best driver for your device. 
    (Recommended)], then click [Next].
    A dialog box is displayed that allows you to specify the search location.
    15If the supplied LBP3000 User Software CD-ROM is not in the 
    CD-ROM drive, insert the LBP3000 User Software CD-ROM 
    into the drive.
    If CD-ROM Setup appears, click [Exit].

    16Select [Search for the best driver for your device. 
    (Recommended).], remove the checkmark from [Removable 
    Media (Floppy, CD-ROM...)], place a checkmark next to 
    [Specify a location].
    For Windows 98: Remove the checkmarks from [Floppy disk drives] and 
    [CD-ROM drive], place a checkmark next to [Specify a location].
    17Click [Browse], and then select a folder.
    Select [D:\English\Win98_Me], and then click [OK].
    In this case the CD-ROM drive is assumed to be assigned to D:. The actual

    18Make sure that the correct path is displayed in the [Specify a 
    location] field, and then click [Next].
    19Click [Next].
    20Enter a new name in the [Printer name] field if you want to 
    change the name of the printer.
    If another printer driver has been already installed in the computer, the message 
    [Do you want your Windows-based programs to use this printer as the default 
    printer?] appears. In this case, select [Yes] or [No].

    21Click [Finish].
    Windows will begin copying files.
    22Once the installation complete dialog is displayed, click [OK].
    23Click [Finish].
    This completes the installation of the USB class driver and printer driver.
    For Windows 2000
    1Make sure that the computer and printer are turned off at the 
    power.

    2Open the USB cover.
    3Connect the B-type (square) end of the USB cable to the USB 
    connector on the rear side of the printer, and close the USB 
    cover.

    4Connect the A-type (flat) end of the USB cable to the USB port 
    on the computer.
    5Press the   side of the power switch to turn the printer on.
    6Turn the computer on and start up Windows 2000.
    7Log on as a user who is a member of the Administrators 
    group.
    The [Found New Hardware Wizard] dialog box appears.
    NOTE
    Full Control Permissions are required for the installation of the printer driver.
