311 Basically operates like a built-in flash for easy operation. When an EX-series Speedlite (sold separately) is attached to the camera, almost all the autoflash control is done by the camera. In other words, it is like a high-output flash attached externally in place of the built-in flash. For detailed instructions, refe r to the EX-series Speedlite’s instruction manual. This camera is a Type-A camera that can use all the features of EX-series Speedlites. External Speedlites EOS-dedicated, EX-series Speedlites Shoe-mount Speedlites Macro Lites With an EX-series Speedlite not compatible with flash function settings (p.233), only [ Flash exposure compensation ] can be set for [External flash func. setting ]. ([Shutter synchronization ] can also be set with certain EX-series Speedlites.) If flash exposure compensation is se t with the external Speedlite, the flash exposure compensation icon displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor will change from y to 0 . If the external Speedlite’s Custom Fu nction has the flash metering mode set to TTL autoflash, the flas h will fire at full output only. COPY
External Speedlites 312 With an EZ/E/EG/ML/TL-series Speedlite set in TTL or A-TTL autoflash mode, the flash can be fired at full output only. Set the camera’s shooting mode to < a> (manual exposure) or < f > (aperture-priority AE) and adjust the aperture setting before shooting. When using a Speedlite that has manual flash mode, shoot in the manual flash mode. Sync Speed The camera can synchronize with co mpact, non-Canon flash units at 1/200 sec. or slower shutter speeds. Use a sync speed slower than 1/200 sec. Be sure to test the flash unit befor ehand to make sure it synchronizes properly with the camera. Cautions for Live View Shooting A non-Canon flash will not fire during Live View shooting. Canon Speedlites Other Than the EX-series Using Non-Canon Flash Units If the camera is used with a flash unit or flash accessory dedicated to another camera brand, the camera may not operate properly and malfunction may result. Do not attach a high-voltage flash un it on the camera’s hot shoe. It may not fire. COPY
313 With a commercially-available Eye-Fi card already set up, you can automatically transfer captured images to a computer or upload them to an online service via a wireless LAN. The image transfer is a function of the Eye-Fi card. For instructions on\ how to set up and use the Eye-Fi card or to troubleshoot any image transfer problems, refer to the Eye-Fi card’s instruction manual or contact the card manufacturer. The camera is not guaranteed to support Eye-Fi card functions (including wireless transfer). In ca se of an issue with an Eye-Fi card, please check with the card manufacturer. Even if [Eye-Fi trans. ] is set to [Disable], it may still transmit a signal. In hospitals, airports, and other places where wireless transmissions are prohibited, remove the Eye-Fi card from the camera. If the image transfer does not function, chec k the Eye-Fi card and computer settings. For details, refer to the card’s instruction manual. Depending on the wireless LAN’s connection conditions, the image transfer may take longer or it may be interrupted. Because of the transmis sion function, the Eye-Fi card may become hot. The battery power will be consumed faster. During the image transfer, auto power off will not take effect. If you insert a wireless LAN card other than an Eye-Fi card, [Eye-Fi settings ] will not appear on the menu. Also, the tran smission status icon will not appear on the LCD monitor. COPY
