Highlight AlertWhen the shooting information is disp layed, any overexposed areas of the
image will blink. To obta in more image detail in the overexposed areas, set
the exposure compensation to a negative amount and shoot again.
HistogramThe brightness histogram shows the expo sure level distribution and overall
brightness. The RGB histogr am is for checking the color saturation and
gradation. The display can be switched with [
    x2: Histogram disp].
[Brightness] DisplayThis histogram is a graph sh owing the distribution of
the image’s brightness leve l. The horizontal axis
indicates the brightness leve l (darker on the left and
brighter on the right), while the vertical axis indicates
how many pixels exist for ea ch brightness level. The
more pixels there are towa rd the left, the darker the
image. The more pixels t here are toward the right,
the brighter the image. If there are too many pixels on
the left, the shadow detail will be lost. If there are too
many pixels on the right, the highlight detail will be
lost. The gradation in-betwe en will be reproduced. By
checking the image and its brightness histogram, you
can see the exposure level inclination and the overall gradation.
[RGB] DisplayThis histogram is a grap h showing the distribution of each primary color’s
brightness level in the im age (RGB or red, green, and blue). The horizontal
axis indicates the color’s brightness le vel (darker on the left and brighter
on the right), while the vertical axis indicates how many pixels exist for
each color brightness level. The more pixels there are toward the left, the
darker and less prominent the color. Th e more pixels there are toward the
right, the brighter and denser the color. If ther e are too many pixels on the
left, the respective colo r information will be lacki ng. If there are too many
pixels on the right, the color will be too saturated with no gradation. By
checking the image’s RGB histogram, you can see the color’s saturation
and gradation condition, as well as white balance inclination.

    Post-ProcessingImages
After taking a picture, you c an apply a Creative filter,
resize the image (reduce the number of pixels), or crop
    the image.
The camera may not be able to process images taken with
    another camera.
Post-processing images as described in this chapter is not
possible while the camera is co nnected to a computer via the
     terminal.

      Grainy B/W
Creates a grainy black-and-white photo. You can change the black-
and-white effect by adjusting the contrast.
      Soft focus
Gives the image a soft look. You can change the degree of softness
    by adjusting the blur.
      Fish-eye effect
Gives the effect of a fish-eye lens. The image will have a barrel-type
    distortion.
Depending on the level of this filt er effect, the area trimmed along
the periphery of the image changes. Also, since this filter effect will
magnify the image center, the appar ent resolution at the center may
degrade depending on the number of recorded pixels. Set the filter
effect in step 4 while checking the resulting image.
    Creative Filter Characteristics
When shooting 1+73 or 1 images, the Creative filter will be
applied to the 1 image and the image will be saved as a JPEG image.
If an aspect ra tio was set for a 1 image and a Creative filter is applied
to it, the image will be saved in the aspect ratio that was set.

      Art bold effect
Makes the photo look like an oil pa inting and the subject look three-
dimensional. You can adjust the cont rast and saturation. Note that
the sky, white walls, and similar subjects may not be rendered with a
smooth gradation and may look irr egular or have significant noise.
      Water painting effect
Makes the photo look like a watercolor painting with soft colors. You
can adjust the color density. Note that night scenes or dark scenes
may not be rendered with a smooth gradation and may look irregular
    or have significant noise.
      Toy camera effect
Darkens the photo’s corners and applies a color tone that makes it
look as if it was shot by a toy camera. You can change the color cast
    by adjusting the color tone.
      Miniature effect
Creates a diorama effect. You can change where the image looks
sharp. In step 4 on page 274 , if you press the < B> button (or
tap on [z ] at the screen’s bottom), you can switch between
the white frame’s vertical and horizontal orientations.
