439 You can either select and erase unnecessary images one by one or erase them in one batch. Protected images (p.412) will not be erased. 1Select the image to be erased. Press the < x> button to play back images. Turn the < 5> dial to select the image to be erased. 2Press the < L> button. X The Erase menu will appear. 3Erase the image. Select [ Erase], then press < 0>. The image displayed will be erased. L Erasing Images Erasing a Single Image Once an image is erased, it cannot be recovered. Make sure you no longer need the image before erasing it. To prevent important images from being erased accidentally, protect them. Erasing a RAW+JPEG image will erase both the RAW and JPEG images. Setting [ 84: Default Erase option ] to [[Erase] selected ] makes it faster to erase images (p.492).
L Erasing Images 440 By adding checkmarks < X> to the images to be erased, you can erase multiple images at once. 1Select [Erase images]. Under the [ 31] tab, select [ Erase images ], then press < 0>. 2Select [Select and erase images]. XAn image is displayed. 3Select the images to be erased. Turn the < 5> dial to select the image to be erased, then press < 0 >. X A checkmark [ X] will be displayed on the upper left of the screen. If you press the < u> button and turn the < 6> dial counterclockwise, you can select an image from a three- image display. To return to the single- image display, turn the < 6> dial clockwise. To select another image to be erased, repeat step 3. 4Erase the image. Press the < L> button, then press [ OK ]. 441 L Erasing Images You can erase all the images in a folder or on a card at once. When [31: Erase images ] is set to [All images in folder ] or [All images on card ], all the images in the folder or on the card will be erased. 3 Erasing All Images in a Folder or on a Card To erase all images including protected images, format the card (p.73). When [ All images on card ] is selected, the images in the card selected under [ 51: Record func+card/folder sel. ] with [Record/play ] or [ Playback ] will be erased.
442 The LCD monitor’s brightness is adjusted automatically for optimum viewing depending on the ambient light level. You can also set the brightness level of automatic adjustment (brighter or darker), or adjust the brightness manually. 1Select [LCD brightness]. Under the [ 52] tab, select [ LCD brightness ], then press < 0>. 2Select [Auto] or [Manual]. Turn the < 6> dial to make the selection. 3Adjust the brightness. While referring to the gray chart, turn the < 5> dial, then press < 0>. You can adjust the brightness level to one of three levels with [ Auto], and to one of seven levels with [ Manual]. 443 Changing Image Playback Settings You can change the LCD monitor’s color tone from standard tone to warm or cool tone. 1Select [LCD color tone]. Under the [ 52] tab, select [ LCD color tone ], then press < 0>. 2Select the desired color tone. While looking at the image on the LCD monitor, select an option (1, 2, 3, or 4), then press < 0>. You can select [ 1: Warm tone], [2: Standard ], [3: Cool tone 1 ], or [4: Cool tone 2 ]. 3 Setting the LCD Monitor Color Tone The last image played back is displayed on the screen in step 2.
Changing Image Playback Settings 444 Images shot in vertical orientation are rotated automatically to the proper orientation for viewing, so they will not be di splayed in horizontal orientation when played back on the camera’s LCD monitor or viewed on a computer screen. You can change the setting of this feature. 1Select [Auto rotate]. Under the [ 51] tab, select [ Auto rotate ], then press < 0>. 2Set the display orientation. Select the desired setting, then press . OnzD The vertical image is automatically rotated during playback on both the camera’s LCD monitor and on the computer. OnD The vertical image is automatically rotated only on the computer. Off The vertical image is not automatically rotated. 3 Auto Rotation of Vertical Images Auto rotation will not work with vertical images captured while auto rotation was [Off]. They will not rotate even if you later switch it to [On] for playback. The image displayed immediately after shooting will not be automatically rotated. If a picture is taken while the camera is pointing up or down, automatic rotation to the proper orientation for viewing may not be performed correctly. If the vertical image is not automatically rotated on the computer screen, it means the software you are using does not support image rotation for display. Using the EOS software is recommended.
445 11 Post-ProcessingImages This chapter explains RAW image processing, JPEG image resizing, and JPEG image cropping. A M icon at the upper right of a page title indicates a function that can be used only in the following modes: < d> < s > < F>. The camera may not be able to process images taken with another camera. Post-processing images as described in this chapter cannot be performed when the camera is connected to a computer via an interface cable.
446 You can process 1 images with the camera and save them as JPEG images. As the RAW image itself does not change, you can apply different processing conditions to create any number of JPEG images from it. Note that 41 and 61 images cannot be processed with the camera. Use Digital Photo Professional (EOS software, p.598) to process those images. 1Select [RAW image processing]. Under the [ 31] tab, select [ RAW image processing ], then press < 0 >. X 1 images will be displayed. 2Select the image to be processed. Turn the < 5> dial to select the image you want to process. If you press the < u> button and turn the < 6> dial counterclockwise, you can select an image from the index display. 3Set the desired processing conditions. Press < 0> to make the RAW- processing options appear in a while (p.449). Use < 9> to select an option, then turn the < 5> or < 6> dial to switch the setting. X The displayed image will reflect such settings as “Brightness adjustment”, “White balance”, etc. To return to the image settings at the time of shooting, press the < B> button. 447 R Processing RAW Images with the Camera N Displaying the setting screen Press < 0> to display the selected function’s setting screen. Turn the < 5 > or < 6> dial to change the setting. Press < 0> to finalize the setting and return to the previous screen. 4Save the image. Select [ W] (Save), then press < 0>. When you select [ OK], the JPEG image created by processing will be saved to the card. Check the destination folder and image file number, then select [ OK]. To process another image, repeat steps 2 to 4.
R Processing RAW Images with the Camera N 448 You can magnify the image by pressing the button in step 3. The magnification will differ depending on the [ Image quality] setting under [ x 1: RAW image processing ]. With , you can scroll around the magnified image. To cancel the magnified view, press the < u> button again. With [ z5: Aspect ratio ] (p.310) set to an option other than [ 3:2], frame lines indicating the image area will be displayed on the shot images. JPEG images generated from 1 images will be saved with the set aspect ratio. The RAW images (p.175) shot with [ z1: Dual Pixel RAW ] set to [ Enable ] can be processed with the camera. However, it cannot process the RAW image using the Dual Pixel data. Magnified View Images with Aspect Ratio Setting Dual Pixel RAW images When you process multiple-exposure 1 images, certain settings cannot be changed.
