You can set up more advanced restrictions, such as by page count or PC user login name, through Web Based Management. (For more information, see the Network Users Guide on the CD-ROM.) Making copies 33 5 Copy options (temporary settings) 5 When you want to quickly change the copy settings temporarily for the next copy, use the temporary Copy keys. You can use different combinations. The machine returns to its default settings one minute after copying. Enlarging or reducing the image copied5 You can choose the following enlargement or reduction ratios: * The factory setting is shown in Bold with an asterisk. Auto sets the machine to calculate the reduction ratio that best fits the size of paper. Auto is only available when using the ADF. Custom(25-400%) allows you to enter a ratio from 25% to 400%.To enlarge or reduce the next copy follow the instructions below: aLoad your document. bUse the dial pad to enter the number of copies (up to 99). cPress Enlarge/Reduce. Press c. dDo one of the following: „Press a or b to choose the enlargement or reduction ratio you want. PressOK. „Press a or b to choose Custom(25-400%). PressOK. Chapter 5 34 Improving copy quality5 You can choose from a range of quality settings. The default setting is Auto. „Auto Auto is the recommended mode for ordinary printouts. Suitable for documents that contain both text and photographs. „Text Suitable for documents containing only text. „Photo Suitable for copying photographs. To temporarily change the quality setting, follow the steps below: aLoad your document. bUse the dial pad to enter the number of copies (up to 99). cPress Contrast/Quality. Press a or b to choose Quality. PressOK. dPress d or c to choose Auto, Text or Photo. Press OK. ePress Start. Changing text copy resolution5 You can change the text copy resolution to 1200x600dpi if you are using the scanner glass and have chosen Text as the Copy Quality and an enlargement or reduction ratio of 100%. Chapter 5 36 Making N in 1 copies (page layout)5 You can reduce the amount of paper used when copying by using the N in 1 copy feature. This allows you to copy two or four pages onto one page, which lets you save paper. IMPORTANT • Please make sure the paper size is set to Letter, A4, Legal or Folio. •(P) means Portrait and (L) means Landscape. • You cannot use the Enlarge/Reduce setting with the N in 1 feature. aLoad your document. bUse the dial pad to enter the number of copies (up to 99). cPress Nin1. dPress a or b to choose 2in1(P), 2in1(L), 4in1(P), 4in1(L) or Off(1 in 1). PressOK. ePress Start to scan the page. If you placed the document in the ADF, the machine scans the pages and starts printing. If you are using the scanner glass, go to stepf. fAfter the machine scans the page, press1 to scan the next page. Flatbed Copy: Next Page? a1.Yes b2.No Selectabor OK gPlace the next page on the scanner glass. PressOK.Repeat stepsf and g for each page of the layout. hAfter all the pages have been scanned, press 2 in stepf to finish.
