    Pinaplaceonamap
    In BlackBerry Maps, you can add pins to your map to track where youhre going or to mark points of interest.
    In the Maps app, do one of the following:
    t On the map screen, touch and hold the place that you want to pin.
    t On the search results screen, tap a search result.
    To clear all of the pins from a map, on the map screen, tap 
     > .
    Getdirections Verify that location services are turned on and that your BlackBerry device has established a GPS
    connection.
    1. In the Maps app, find a place by doing one of the following:
    t On the map screen, search for an address or a place using the search field. In the search results, tap a place.
    t On the map screen, locate a pin that you added to the map. Tap the pin. t On the map screen, tap 
     > . Tap  Recents , Favorites , or Contacts . Tap an address, a place,
    or a contact.

    3. To begin receiving turn-by-turn directions, tap

    To stop turn-by-turn directions in the map view or detail view, tap

    By default, turn-by-turn directions start with the street-level view of the route.
    To switch to one of the high-level views, do one of the following:

    If traffic data is available, you can display it as you view a map, or view or listen to turn-by-turn
    directions in the street-level view.
    Do one of the following:
    t On the map screen, tap

    t When viewing or listening to turn-by-turn directions in the street-level view, tap

    To hide traffic data, tap 
     > .
    Mutevoice-guideddirections
    By default, voice-guided directions are turned on.
    1. If you are in the map view or the detail list view, to return to the street-level view, tap

    2. To turn off voice-guided directions, tap

    Changeyourroutepreferences You can change your route preferences while viewing or listening to turn-by-turn directions in BlackBerryMaps. You can set your route to avoid toll roads, highways, car-sharing lanes, or ferries. You can also set the type of route that you want to take (fastest, simplest, or shortest).
    1. In the Maps app, swipe down from the top of the screen.
    2. Tap 
     > RouteOptions .
    3. Turn on the switches for the types of things that you want to avoid. Tap the type of route that you
    want to take.
    Recalculateroutes
    While viewing or listening to turn-by-turn directions, you can manually recalculate your directions when
    you make a wrong turn or would like alternative directions.
    1. If you are in the street-level view, to show the navigation bar, tap the screen.
    2. Tap

    Myplaces In BlackBerry Maps, you can find your favorites, recent places, and contactsh places on the  MyPlaces
    tab.

    To remove a place from the Favorites screen, tap 
     > . Tap  Favorites . Touch and hold the place that
    you want to remove. Tap

    Addyourworkorhomeaddress
    In BlackBerry Maps, you can add your work and home addresses to save time when planning trips and
    getting directions.
    1. In the Maps app, tap

    2. Do one of the following:
    t Tap 
     > AddHome .
    t Tap 
     > AddWork .
    Viewyourrecentplaces
    BlackBerry Maps remembers and organizes the last 100 places that you searched for so that you can
    quickly access them again.

    2. Tap  Recents .
    Clearyourrecentplaces
    You can clear the list of recently viewed places in BlackBerry Maps.
    Tip: If you have places that you want to keep so that you donht have to search for them again, add them
    as a favorite before you permanently clear the list.
    1. In the Maps app, swipe down from the top of the screen.
    2. Tap 
     > ClearHistory .
    3. Do one of the following:
    t To delete your history, recent destinations, and searches, tap  ClearRecents.
    t To delete your recent places and searches, and reset the app to the default settings, tap  Reset

    If you have added an address to an entry in the Contacts app, you can view the contacths location on a
    map and get directions.

    BlackBerry Maps displays distances using either imperial (feet/yards and miles) or metric (meters and
    kilometers) measurements, as set in your device settings.

    If you always want BlackBerry Maps to show you the fastest or shortest route, or want to avoid certain
    things on your route, such as highways, toll roads, car-sharing lanes, or ferries, you can change your
    default settings.

    BlackBerry Maps can prompt you about upcoming turns using voice directions or tones.

    In BlackBerry Maps, you can set the map text to display in the language specific to the map or area that youhre currently viewing.
    1. In the Maps app, swipe down from the top of the screen.

    Aboutlocationservices You can turn on location services so that location-based applications and services, like BlackBerry
    Maps, can find your location. Location-based applications can use GPS technology and other
    information to provide you with information, such as driving directions.
    Turnonorturnofflocationservices Some apps require GPS location information to work as expected.
    1. On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen.
    2. Tap 
     Settings  > LocationServices .
    3. Turn on or turn off the  LocationServices switch.

    Some apps require specific permissions to work as expected.

    							AboutthecompassThe digital compass on your BlackBerry device works like a regular compass, but also includes morefeatures. For example, you can choose whether the compass points to true north or magnetic north. The
    compass also works in any direction or orientation, including upside down.
    Getacompassreading
    To get a compass reading, rotate and tilt your BlackBerry device.
    The current direction that youhre facing appears at the top of the screen.
    Pointthecompasstotruenorthortomagneticnorth You can choose to navigate with your compass using either true north or magnetic north. Magnetic
    north, which is what a standard compass points to, can be influenced by several factors and isnht
    constant. True north, or geographical north, is what you would see on a paper map and is constant. If
    you would prefer to navigate based on true north (for example, if you are using your compass to follow a
    map) you must turn on GPS.
    In the compass app, do one of the following:
    t To navigate based on true north, at the bottom of the screen, turn on the switch.
    t To navigate based on magnetic north, at the bottom of the screen, turn off the switch.

    t If the compass doesnht point north, move your BlackBerry device away from metal objects, such as magnets or electronics.
    t If you have turned on Location Services and are navigating based on true north, you need the GPS receiver to be able to connect to GPS satellites. Try moving outside or near a window in order to
    establish a GPS connection.
    IhmseeingtheinterferenceindicatorwhenItrytousethecompass The interference indicator appears on the screen when something is interfering with the compass on
    your BlackBerry device.

    You can add search engines so that they are available in the drop-down list when you search for a term
    in the BlackBerry Browser.
    Note: This feature is not available for some search providers.
