ProfileDescriptionPhone Book Access Profile (PBAP)This profile allows a Bluetooth enabled car kit to access contact information and recent call history information on your BlackBerry device. This profile allows the car kit to place a call to a contact or display the contact name for an incoming call.Remote SIM Access Profile (rSAP)This profile allows a Bluetooth enabled device, such as a car phone, to connect to your BlackBerry device when your device is connected to a GSM network. The profile lets the Bluetooth enabled device use the SIM card functionality of yourBlackBerry device. For example, a car phone can use the SIM card in your device to make phone calls or send and receive text messages.Serial Port Profile (SPP)This profile allows you to connect your device to Bluetoothenabled devices that support desktop connectivity, wirelessbypass, and data transfer.Tx Power Service (TPS)This service allows a Bluetooth enabled device to accessinformation about the current transmit power levels of your BlackBerry device. The NFC feature might not be available, depending on your service provider, your administratorhs settings, and your BlackBerry device model. NFC is a short-range wireless technology that is designed to let you easily share content and information without having to pair your device to another NFC-enabled device. Depending on your wireless service provider and the applications you have installed on your device, there are many interesting things you can do using NFC, including: t Exchange contact cards with a new friend or business acquaintance. t Pass a picture to your friend. t Grab a coupon from a poster you see on the street. t Send a webpage youhre viewing to a friend. t Add a friend to your BBM contacts. t Copy smart tag information to an NFC tag. t Connect to an NFC enabled printer to print or scan a file. Some NFC apps are designed to simulate a physical card, such as a credit card, a public transit pass, or an access badge. If the app is open on your device, just tap the back of your device to the NFC reader and go. A few examples of what you can do using NFC apps include: t Pay for your morning coffee without taking out your wallet. t Pay for your bus or subway ride. t Gain access to your building when you get to work. These example are just a few of the things you can do with NFC. NFC can be used in many ways depending on the applications you have installed on your device and the NFC compatibility of other devices. 3.Turn on the NFCConnectivity switch. SendafileusingNFC The NFC feature might not be available, depending on your service provider, your administratorhs settings, and your BlackBerry device model. With NFC, you can exchange many kinds of files, including pictures, music, contact info, and even webpages, between your BlackBerry device and other NFC-enabled devices. Your device automatically establishes a Wi-Fi Direct or Bluetooth connection with the other NFC-enabled device to transfer files. 1. On your BlackBerry device do any of the following: t To send a single file, find and open a file. t To send multiple files, find and highlight the files that you want to send. Tap > NFC . 2. Align the back of your BlackBerry device with an NFC-enabled device. 3. If necessary, tap Send. Tip: After your device starts to send the file, move your device away from the other NFC-enabled device so you donht accidentally send the file more than once. FindyourNFCsettings The NFC feature might not be available, depending on your service provider, your administratorhs settings, and your BlackBerry device model. You can set whether your BlackBerry device prompts you before sending or receiving files. You can also set when your device can be used for doing things such as making credit card payments or providingaccess credentials to get into a building. 1. RemoveorresetadefaultNFCapp The NFC feature might not be available, depending on your service provider, your administratorhs settings, and your BlackBerry device model. Multiple NFC apps on your device might use the same app ID that an NFC reader requests. Your device prompts you to set one of the apps as the default app for the NFC reader. You can remove and change the default app setting. 1. On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen. 2. Tap Settings > AppManager . 3. Tap CardEmulationApps or DefaultApps . 4. t To remove the app as the default app for the NFC reader, tap the checkbox beside the default appand tap . t To reset your device to use the factory settings for default apps, tap . 5. The next time you use the NFC reader, set the appropriate app as the default app. Troubleshooting:NFC ThewrongappopenswhenIuseanNFCreader The wrong app might open because it is set as the default app to use with an NFC reader. You might need to remove or reset the default app for the NFC reader. On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen. Tap Settings > AppManager > DefaultApps to remove the app as the default app for the NFC reader. The next time you tap your device against the NFC reader, set the preferred app as the default app. NFCisnotworkingasexpected If you try to share a file by using an NFC connection or a smart tag when your device is locked and the backlight is off, or when the power is turned off, NFC will not work. Settings in the AllowNFCCard Transactions section of the NFC screen donht apply to NFC file transfers or the smart tag feature. You can set up your device to run some NFC apps when your device is locked and the backlight is turned off, or when the power is turned off. In the NFC settings, the Whenlockedorbacklightisoff option applies to NFC apps that simulate physical card transactions, (for example, credit card payments or security badges that allow access to secure buildings), and NFC transactions handled by your SIM card. The Whendeviceisturnedoff option applies only to NFC transactions that are handled by your SIM card. USBconnections AccessthefilesonyourmediacardfromanexternaldeviceTo use the USB Mass Storage Mode feature, you must have a media card in your BlackBerry device. USB Mass Storage Mode is designed to let you use your device as a USB drive. Using a USB cable, you can connect your device to a computer, car stereo, or other external device, and access the files on your media card. When you turn on USB Mass Storage Mode and connect your device to a computer using a USB cable, your device appears on your computer as a removable storage device. Note: When USB Mass Storage Mode is on and your device is connected to an external device using a USB cable, apps on your device canht access the files on your media card. 1. Preventaccesstodataonyourdevicewhilecharging The Charge Only Mode feature is designed to prevent access to the data on your BlackBerry device when you use a USB cable to charge your device. This feature is helpful if you travel frequently andcharge your device at public charging stations. 1. On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen. 2. Tap Settings > NetworksandConnections > USB . 3. Turn on the ChargeOnlyMode switch. SetastaticIPaddressforyourUSBconnection By default, when you connect your BlackBerry device to a computer using a USB cable, your device assigns a random IP address to the connection. You can assign a static IP address that doesnht change each time you connect your device to your computer. For example, you can use this feature to map your device to a specific drive on your computer. 1. On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen. 2. Tap Settings > NetworksandConnections > USB . 3. Turn on the ManualIPAddress switch. To edit the IP address, tap the IPAddress drop-down list and change the IP address numbers. Connectyourdevicetoanexternaldisplay You can connect your BlackBerry device to an external device, such as a monitor, projector, or TV, by using an HDMI connector. 1. Using an HDMI cable, connect your BlackBerry device to an external display. 2. Your device automatically detects the resolution of the HDMI display that your device is connected to. However, if you must change the resolution, on the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen. Tap Settings > Display . In the HDMIDisplayMode drop-down list, tap the display mode that you want to use. Troubleshooting:USBconnections Mycomputerdoesnhtrecognizemydevice If your computer doesnht automatically detect your BlackBerry device, try the following: t Check the USB cable and points of connection. t Consider updating or installing the device drivers on your computer. When you connect your device to your computer, your computer should automatically prompt you to install the latest drivers. Otherwise, the drivers you need are installed when you download BlackBerry Link or BlackBerryBlend. To download BlackBerry Link, on your computer, visit www.blackberry.com/BlackBerryLink. Mobilehotspot When you use Mobile Hotspot mode, your BlackBerry device becomes a wireless access point that other Wi-Fi enabled devices can connect to and access the Internet using your mobile network connection. Up to ten devices can connect to your mobile hotspot at one time, depending on your device model. Mobile Hotspot mode requires the use of the mobile network. When you turn on Mobile Hotspot mode, if your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network, your device turns off the Wi-Fi connection. You might incur more data charges while sharing your network connection using Mobile Hotspot mode. Mobile Hotspot mode can use a lot of battery power. For the best performance, plug your device into a battery charger when you use Mobile Hotspot mode. Before you use Mobile Hotspot mode, read the latest safety and product information at www.blackberry.com/safety. UseMobileHotspotmodetoshareyourInternetconnection Before you turn on Mobile Hotspot mode, confirm that your BlackBerry device is connected to the mobile network. When you set up your mobile hotspot, record the name of your mobile hotspot and the password. You, or the user of another device that wants to connect to your mobile hotspot, must know the name of your mobile hotspot and the password to connect. 1. On the home screen, swipe down from the top of the screen. 2. Tap Settings > NetworksandConnections > MobileHotspot . 3. If youhve never used Mobile Hotspot mode before, complete the instructions on the screen. Read the screens carefully as they provide important information about the Mobile Hotspot feature. Remember your mobile hotspot password for later. 4. If necessary, turn on the MobileHotspot switch. To stop sharing your Internet connection, turn off the MobileHotspot switch. If your device is within range of a saved Wi-Fi network, your device connects to the Wi-Fi network automatically. Tap the name of the device that you want to disconnect from your mobile hotspot. 4. Tap . Internettethering Internet tethering allows you to share your BlackBerry devicehs active connection to the mobile network with one other device, such as a laptop or tablet, so that you can access the Internet on your other device. You can connect the device to your BlackBerry device using a USB cable or, if both devices are Bluetooth enabled, you can use Bluetooth technology instead. Internet tethering requires the use of the mobile network. Additional charges might apply for using Internet tethering. You can type efficiently by creating custom text shortcuts and turning on prediction, correction, and spell check. After you set up your keyboard preferences, learn how to cut, copy, and paste text, and delete words. If you turn on prediction, you can select word suggestions that appear while you type. You canalso set up or change your display, typing, keyboard, and voice input languages. UseakeyboardshortcutkeySome keys on the BlackBerry Keyboard have a shortcut for an action. Press and hold the assigned key. The assigned action is automatically performed.
