5 English AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod Fact Sheet Service and support from the people who know your iPod best The AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod extends the complimentary coverage on your iPod to up to two years * of world-class support. The plan provides access to iPod experts and gives you anytime access to web-based resources at www.apple.com/support/ipod/. If your iPod or the included accessories need service, Apple will repair or replace them. ** Coverage information This comprehensive plan is available for all iPod models within their one-year limited warranty. If you sell the covered iPod before the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod expires, you may transfer the plan to the new owner. ** For each iPod you want to cover, you must purchase a separate AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod. Keep your Proof of Coverage document, the original iPod sales receipt, and the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPod receipt. Apple may require proof of purchase if any questions arise about the eligibility of your iPod for AppleCare Protection Plan.

7 English Hardware service This plan extends repair and replacement service from the Apple one- year warranty to up to two years from your iPod purchase date. This plan also extends service coverage to the iPod battery when its capacity to hold an electrical charge has depleted fifty percent (50%) or more from its original specification. Either the carry-in or direct mail-in service option may apply when you obtain service. Refer to the Quick Reference Guide for additional details about obtaining service. 8English Try these simple steps before contacting Apple for help. If you experience problems with your iPod, try the troubleshooting steps below. As a precaution, back up all content on the iPod, including photos, videos, contacts, calendar, notes, and any other files on your iPod before you perform these steps. Verify that you have the latest iTunes. You can download the latest iTunes. In the U.S., go to www.apple. com/itunes/download/; in Canada go to www.apple.com/ca/itunes/ download/. You can also use the Check for Updates option. In iTunes for Mac, the option is available under iTunes menu. In iTunes for Windows, the option is available under Help. Verify that you have the latest iPod software. Connect your iPod to your computer. In iTunes, select iPod in the source list and click the Summary tab. The Version section tells you whether your iPod is up to date or needs a newer version of the software. Click Update to install the latest version. If your iPod does not turn on • Check the Hold switch. If your iPod does not respond, toggle the Hold switch on and off (set it to Hold and then turn it off again). On iPod and iPod nano, sliding the switch towards the word “Hold” is on. There is no Hold switch on iPod shuffle.
10English • Charge your iPod. If your iPod does not respond, you may need to charge it. To charge your iPod, connect it to a high-power USB port on your computer or to an Apple USB Power Adapter using the cable that came with your iPod. The battery status light may change color. For example, the status light on iPod shuffle changes from red to orange to green as charging progresses. If your iPod does not respond • Reset your iPod. If your iPod does not respond and appears to be frozen, you may need to reset it: • iPod touch: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. • iPod classic and iPod nano: Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to Hold and then back again). Press and hold the Menu and Center buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
