Press and hold the On/Off button for 2 seconds, or 
until your TomTom Rider starts.
The first time you switch on your TomTom Rider, it 
may take up to 20 seconds to start. To switch off 
your TomTom Rider, press and hold the On/Off but-
ton for 2 seconds.
Before you use your Rider for the first time, it’s a 
good idea to charge it fully. 
The battery in your TomTom Rider navigation 
device charges when you connect it to the home 
charger or to your computer.
Note: You should plug the USB connector directly into 
a USB port on your computer and not into a USB hub 
or USB port on a keyboard or monitor.
Setting up
First, you have to answer a few questions to set up 
your device. Answer the questions by tapping the 
screen. You will use the touchscreen for everything 
you do with your TomTom Rider.
Locating your current position
Your TomTom Rider must be outside to be able to 
locate your current position. Make sure that you are 
in an open place without tall buildings or trees 
around you.
The first time you start your Rider, it can take a few 
minutes for the device to find your current position. 
In the future, your position will be found much 
faster, normally within a few seconds.
Your Rider does not transmit your location, so oth-
ers cannot use it to track you while you are driving.Mounting your navigation device
Attach the RAM™ mount kit to your motorcycle as 
shown on the Installation Poster, then place your 
Rider in the holder. When you are attaching the 
mount kit to your motorcycle, follow these guide-
lines:
• If you are unsure about attaching the mount kit 
yourself, ask a professional to fit it for you.
• Make sure that the mount kit does not interfere 
with any of the controls on the motorcycle. 
• Always use the correct tools. If you use unsuita-
ble tools, you may damage or break the mount 
kit.
• Do not overtighten nuts. You may crack parts of 
the mount kit or damage your handlebars if you 
overtighten the nuts.
• If you are using the u-bolt, don’t forget to put the 
rubber caps provided over the exposed threads.
Damage due to modifications, improper installa-
tion, road hazards or accident, are not covered. Nei-
ther RAM nor TomTom shall be liable for any injury, 
loss, or damage, direct or consequential, arising out 
of improper installation, or inability to use product. 
Before use, the user shall determine the suitability 
of the product for its intended use. The user 
assumes all risk and liability, whatsoever, in con-
nection with the mount.

Using a headset
We recommend using a compatible headset with 
your TomTom Rider to hear spoken instructions, 
make and receive hands-free phonecalls and hear 
warning sounds on your Rider. This makes riding 
with your Rider as safe as possible. TomTom rec-
ommends the Cardo scala-rider™ Bluetooth® head-
set. For more information and a full list of 
compatible headsets, go to tomtom.com/rider-
headsets.
The Cardo scala-rider™ Bluetooth® headset is 
included in some products. The instructions below 
describe how to set up this headset.
To turn the headset on, press and hold the on/off 
button for 10 seconds, until the LED flashes blue 3 
times. An ascending alert tone is played. When the 
headset is on, the LED flashes blue every 3 seconds.
To turn the headset off, press and hold the on/off 
button for 3 seconds, until the LED flashes red 3 
times. A descending alert tone is played.
If you did not establish a Bluetooth connection 
between your Bluetooth headset and your 
TomTom Rider when you first turned your Rider on, 
you can establish the connection at any time.
From the Main Menu, tap options. Tap Connect to 
headset and follow the instructions to establish the 
connection.

microphone correctly. For best results, don’t posi-
tion the microphone directly in front of your mouth,

Before you can use your Bluetooth headset, fully 
charge the headset using the charger supplied with 
the headset.
To fully charge the headset takes between 2 and 3 
hours. When charging, the LED is a steady red. 
When charging is finished, the LED turns off.
When the batteries are running low, an alert tone is 
played.

HOMEUsing TomTom HOME you can register and man-
age your navigation device to receive free updates 
and buy new services. Its a good idea to connect 
frequently to HOME so you can do the following:
• Download for free updates for your device, 
including Map Share updates and other services 
included with your product.
• Add new items to your device, like maps, voices 
and POIs, as well as buy TomTom services and 
manage your subscriptions.
• Share your map corrections and other content 
with the TomTom community.
• Make and restore backups of your device.
• Read the Reference Guide for your device.
Tip: We recommend using a broadband internet connection whenever you connect to HOME.Installing TomTom HOME
To install TomTom HOME on your computer, do 
the following:
1. Connect your computer to the internet.
2. Connect your device to your computer using the 
USB cable, then switch your device on.
Note: You should plug the USB connector directly 
into a USB port on your computer and not into a 
USB hub or USB port on a keyboard or monitor.
TomTom HOME starts to install.
Note: If HOME does not install automatically, you can 
download it from tomtom.com/home.

Halten Sie die Ein/Aus-Taste 2 Sekunden lang 
gedrückt (oder so lange, bis sich Ihr TomTom Rider 
einschaltet).
Wenn Sie Ihren TomTom Rider zum ersten Mal ein-
schalten, kann der Start bis zu 20 Sekunden dauern. 
Um Ihren TomTom Rider auszuschalten, halten Sie 
die Ein/Aus-Taste 2 Sekunden lang gedrückt.
Vor dem ersten Einsatz Ihres Rider sollten Sie ihn 
vollständig aufladen. 
Der Akku in Ihrem TomTom Rider-Navigationsgerät 
wird aufgeladen, wenn Sie Ihr Gerät an das Ladege-
rät für zu Hause oder an Ihren Computer anschlie-
ßen.
Wichtig: Verbinden Sie Ihr Gerät über das USB-Kabel 
direkt mit einem USB-Anschluss Ihres Computers, 
nicht mit einem USB-Hub oder einem USB-Anschluss 
einer Tastatur oder eines Monitors.
Einrichten
Sie müssen zur Einrichtung Ihres Geräts zunächst 
einige Fragen beantworten. Zur Beantwortung der 
Fragen können Sie einfach das Display antippen. 
Alle Funktionen Ihres TomTom Rider werden mit 
Hilfe des Touchscreens gesteuert.
Ermitteln Ihrer aktuellen Position
Ihr TomTom Rider kann Ihre aktuelle Position nur 
im Freien bestimmen. Achten Sie darauf, dass Ihre 
Sicht nach oben nicht durch hohe Gebäude oder 
Bäume behindert wird.
Beim ersten Einschalten Ihres Rider kann es einige 
Minuten dauern, bis das Gerät Ihre aktuelle Position 
findet. Später wird Ihre Position viel schneller ermit-
telt werden; normalerweise innerhalb weniger 
Sekunden.
Ihr Rider übermittelt Ihre Position nicht, Dritte kön-
nen also Ihre Position während der Fahrt nicht 
orten.Befestigung Ihres Navigationsgeräts
Bringen Sie das RAM™-Befestigungsset wie in der 
Installationsanleitung dargestellt an Ihrem Motor-
rad an und setzen Sie anschließend den Rider in die 
Gerätehalterung. Beachten Sie beim Anbringen des 
Befestigungssets an Ihrem Motorrad folgende 
Richtlinien:
• Wenn Sie nicht sicher sind, ob Sie das Befesti-
gungsset selbst anbringen können, lassen Sie 
die Installation von einem Fachmann durchfüh-
ren.
• Stellen Sie sicher, dass das Befestigungsset 
nicht den Zugriff auf die Bedienelemente an 
Ihrem Motorrad behindert. 
• Verwenden Sie immer die passenden Werk-
zeuge. Die Verwendung ungeeigneter Werk-
zeuge kann zur Beschädigung des 
Befestigungssets führen.
• Ziehen Sie die Schraubenmuttern nicht übermä-
ßig stark fest. Übermäßig starkes Festziehen von 
Schraubenmuttern kann eine Rissbildung an 
Teilen des Befestigungssets verursachen und 
die Lenkstange beschädigen.
• Wenn Sie den U-Bolzen verwenden, stecken Sie 
unbedingt die mitgelieferten Gummischutzkap-
pen auf die freiliegenden Gewinde.
Für Schäden aufgrund von Modifikationen, unsach-
gemäßer Montage oder Unfällen wird keine Haf-
tung übernommen. Weder RAM noch TomTom 
haften für Verletzungen, Schäden oder Ausfälle, die 
direkt oder indirekt auf eine unsachgemäße Mon-
tage oder Benutzung des Produkts zurückzuführen 
sind. Vor der Verwendung muss sich der Benutzer 
von der Eignung des Produkts zum bestimmungs-
gemäßen Gebrauch vergewissern. Der Benutzer 
übernimmt jegliches Risiko und jegliche Haftung im 
Zusammenhang mit der Halterung.

Headset verwenden
Wir empfehlen Ihnen, für die Wiedergabe von 
Sprachanweisungen und Warnsignalen des Rider 
sowie das Tätigen und Empfangen von Telefonge-
sprächen im Freisprechmodus ein mit dem 
TomTom Rider kompatibles Headset zu verwen-
den. Damit wird die Fahrt mit Ihrem Rider so sicher 
wie möglich. TomTom empfiehlt das Cardo Scala-
rider™ Bluetooth®-Headset. Weitere Informationen 
sowie eine vollständige Liste der kompatiblen 
Headsets finden Sie unter tomtom.com/riderhead-
sets.
Das Cardo Scala-rider™ Bluetooth®-Headset ist im 
Lieferumfang einiger Produkte enthalten. Die fol-
genden Anweisungen beschreiben die Einrichtung 
dieses Headsets.
Um das Headset einzuschalten, halten Sie die Ein/
Aus-Taste 10 Sekunden lang gedrückt. Die LED 
blinkt dreimal blau. Gleichzeitig hören Sie einen 
ansteigenden Signalton. Bei eingeschaltetem Head-
set blinkt die LED alle 3 Sekunden blau.
Um das Headset auszuschalten, halten Sie die Ein/
Aus-Taste 3 Sekunden lang gedrückt. Die LED blinkt 
dreimal rot. Gleichzeitig hören Sie einen fallenden 
Signalton.
Wenn Sie beim ersten Einschalten Ihres Rider keine 
Bluetooth®-Verbindung zwischen Ihrem 
Bluetooth®-Headset und Ihrem TomTom Rider her-
gestellt haben, können Sie dies jederzeit nachholen.
Tippen Sie im Hauptmenü auf Optionen. Tippen Sie 
auf Mit Headset verbinden und folgen Sie den 
Anweisungen, um die Verbindung herzustellen.
Befestigen Sie das Headset wie zu Beginn dieser 
Anleitung dargestellt an Ihrem Helm. Achten Sie auf 
die korrekte Ausrichtung des Mikrofons. Die beste 
Sprachqualität wird erzielt, wenn das Mikrofon 
nicht direkt vor dem Mund, sondern seitlich neben

Laden Sie Ihr Bluetooth®-Headset vor der Benut-
zung mit dem mitgelieferten Ladegerät vollständig 
auf.
Das vollständige Aufladen des Headsets dauert 2 
bis 3 Stunden. Während des Ladevorgangs leuchtet 
die LED rot. Wenn der Aufladevorgang beendet ist, 
erlischt die LED.
Bei niedrigem Akkuladestand wird ein Signalton 
ausgegeben.
