    Di al - By - Nam e
    The  sy st em  wil l  al low  you t o di al  e xte nsi on n umber s  by 
    entering a  name  of  a p erson  tha t  has  bee n p rogramm ed  for 
    tha t  st at ion.  Th e s yst em  dat ab ase  al low s e ntr y  of a  name  
    (alphanu meric)  up to 24 characters  in le ngth  for e ach s tation. 
    Thi s  prog ram med  name  can  be  use d f or  dia li ng-b y-na me 
    station  users and  in  some cases LCD displays.
    To  dia l  a s tat i on us er  by  name :
    1. Di al  th e D ia l- B y-Na me  co de  [6
    6],  or  pr ess  t he 
    pre-programmed DIAL-BY-NAME flexible  button.
    2. Dial the desired  person’s name  using the  key pad.
    Exampl e --  If you  wanted  to  call L inda  Murphy (a nd las t 
    name s we re  e nte re d int o  t he Di re c to r y Di ali ng Lis t),  yo u 
    would  pre ss  the  fol lowi ng nu meric k eys : 6 (M), 8 (U),  7 (R),  
    7  (P), 4 (H ), 9 ( Y ).

    When the  sys te m finds  a unique num eric match to the name  being 
    dialed, the call is pl aced to the station matching the name. The 
    intercom  call  signals  the  station according  to the  H-T-P button 
    s etting. If few er than 8  digits are dialed,  the numeric match is dialed 
    af ter a 10  sec. i nterdigit time-out occurs , or if a [# ] pound is pres sed.

    Di spl ay t el ep hones  may v ie w a l ist , of  up to 2 0 0 na mes  from  the  
    Sys tem D irectory  on the station’s LCD di spl ay. You can di al th e 
    st at ion or spe ed di al bi n by pr ess ing  a sin gle  but t on.
    Name s  pla ced  in  the  D ir ect ory  Li st  may  be  as soci ate d  to 
    intercom  numbers, System  Speed dial bins,  or  entries in the 
    Local Number/Name Translation Table. You  may view the 
    Directory List beginning with any letter  of the  alphabet, then 
    scroll throu gh the  list either forward  or  backwards.

    To  view the Directory  List:
    1. Di al  th e D ir ec t or y L is t d ia l c od e [ 68 0]  or  pr ess  t he 
    DI RECT ORY DI A L f le xibl e  but ton  (i f pre-programmed).
    2. To  vi ew  the  l is t  of na mes,  pr es s a  but ton  (onc e,  t wic e  or  
    three times) on the key pad that represents the desired 
    letter of the  alphabet (refer  to Figure 1:  Dial- By- Name Key 
    Pa d  Ma p).
    Exampl e --  P re ss  th e num ber  [2 ]:
    †Once  for na mes  starting  with “A”.
    †Twice  for na mes  starting  with “B”
    †Thr ee  t ime s for name s st ar ti ng w it h “C”
    Names starting with the letter chosen display on LCD.

    4. Pr es s t he  SPE ED  but ton  when  the  de si re d na me  is  shown 
    o n t he LC D dis pla y. (Sys te m a u to ma ti c al ly di als  t he 
    destination station or outside  phone number.)
    Transferrin g a C all using Director y Dialing
    While on  a call:
    1. Press the TRANS button.
    2. Dial the Directory Dial  Code  [680] or press  the 
    pre-programmed DI R EC TOR Y  D IA L  fle xib le  but t on.
    3. Pr es s t he  di gi t a sso ci at ed  wi th  the  pe rs o n’s name , an d 
    when it displays press the SPEED  button to automatically 
    di al the  de st i nat ion st ati on.
    4. Hang  up to complete the  transfer.
    Do Not Dist urb
    Activating Do Not Disturb
    If  you  are  gi ve n t he  abi li t y t o pl ace  your  ph one i n D o Not  
    Disturb  (DN D):
    †Pr es s t h e  pre-programmed D ND f le xib le  but to n (DN D 
    button  LED lights  steady), or dial [631]  on the 8-button 
    key set. A confirma tion tone sounds .
    †The  DN D bu tt on can  be  pr es sed  whi le  pho ne i s  ri ngi ng, 
    to  st op t he  ri ngi ng (r e fer  t o O ne- Time Do Not Di stur b).
    C alls may  b e tra nsfe rre d to in ter nal stati ons onl y. An 
    att empt  to  tr ansfer a cal l off- net  (v ia a sp ee d dial  b in) 
    re su lts  in th e cal l re call ing up on go ing on -hoo k.

    T o ca nce l  DN D:
    Press the DND flexible  button  again (DND  button  LED 
    extinguishes),  or  dial [631] on the 8-butto n keyset. A 
    confirma tion tone  sounds .
    One-Time Do Not Disturb
    Allows you to prevent calls from  ringing at your  station while 
    you a re on  a call. The One-Time DN D cond ition  automatica lly 
    c anc el s when  you e nd your c al l.
    To use One-Time Do Not Disturb:
    Pr es s t he  DN D fl ex ibl e  but ton  (if  pre-programmed) while 
    you a re off- hook a nd connected  to a  CO line or intercom 
    cal l.  The  DN D bu tt on LE D l i ghts  and  off- hook t one s a t 
    your st at ion ar e c a nc el ed.
    To ca ncel One-Time Do Not Disturb:
    Go on- hook or p ress  ON/OFF  button . Th e D ND  button 
    LED extinguishes and DND  is  canceled.
    Executive Override
    Exe cuti ve  ove rr i de  al lows  st at ion s de si gnat ed  as  “Exe cuti ve” 
    the  a bil it y t o ov er ri de  and “bar ge in” on  other key sets  enga ged  
    in C O Li ne  co nver sa ti ons.  A cha nge i n vol ume m ay occur  o n the  
    CO Line or intercom ca ll af ter the b arg e-in o ccurs.
    Use of  this feature when the executive override warning tone 
    i s  disabl ed  may  be  a v iol atio n of  Fe de ral,  Sta te  or L ocal  La ws, 
    a nd an  i nv asion of pri va cy. C he ck ap plic able  laws in  y our 
    a rea  b efore   us ing  t his   featu re.

    Flexible Button  Programming
    To prog ram  a fle xi ble  but t on:
    1. Press the SPEED  button  twice.
    2. Press button to be programmed  (must be programmed 
    in  dat aba se  as  a f le xib le  but t on).
    3. Di al  the  de sir e d code ( re fer  to  the  Default  Numberi ng  Plan 
    at  t he  end  of t hi s us er  gui de ).

    1. Press the SPEED  button  twice.
    2. Pr es s t he  fl exi bl e  but ton  to b e  er ase d.
    3. Press the FLASH bu tton. A  confirmation tone  sounds.
    4. Replace the  handset or press the ON/OFF button.
    Gro up  L is te ni n g
    All digital ke y s ta tions  have  bu ilt  in  spe ake rp hones . You  ca n 
    use the  speaker  to  monitor a  call while u sing the  handset to 
    consult  with the outside party. This enables other people in the 
    room to listen to both parties  in  the conversation.
    To activate Group Listen ing:
    While  conversing  on the  hands et, p re ss  the  ON/OF F 
    button. Both parties of the conversation can then  be 
    hea rd  on t he  dig it al  st at io ns s pea ke r.  Th e s pe ake rph one 
    microphone  is  mute d wh ile the  han dse t  is  off- hook.
    To deactivate Gro up Listening :
    While off -hook,  th e ON/OFF  button  must be depress ed.

    If  you wis h to use  a hea dse t and have  be en given the  a bility to 
    do s o in programming,  follow these step s.
    To activate H eadset Mod e:
    Dial [634] or p re ss  the  pre-programmed HEADSET  MODE 
    fl exi ble  b utt on.  The  LED  wi ll  l ig ht  ste ady.

    While Headset mode is  active, the  ON/OFF button will

    Dial [634] or p re ss  the  pre-programmed HEADSET  MODE

    Intercom Buttons
    To  prog ram  a  fle xi ble  but t on a s an  in te rcom  but ton:
    1. Press the SPEED  button  twice.
    2. Pr es s t he  de si re d fl ex ibl e but ton to be pr ogra mmed.
    3. Di al  [6 45 ]. A c o nfir mat i o n t o ne so u nds .
    †If an  error is  made during entry, an error  tone is 
    re c ei ved.  
    †If  an  int er com ca ll  i s p lace d t o a  busy  st at ion  t hat  has  
    an intercom button:
    - The calling station receives ringback tone instead 
    of b usy tone . T he ca lled  station  hea rs  muted  or 
    re mi nder  r in g and  t hei r  int er c om b utt on LE D 
    starts flas hing  at the  incoming  line  rate.  This 
    ind ic at es  an  in com ing  int er c om c a ll .
    - The  calle d s ta tion ca n place  th e current CO call 
    on hold b y pres sing the  HOLD b utton,  or  pla ce 
    the current intercom  call on  hold by  pressing  the 
    HOLD button.  The intercom call would be placed 
    on hold on  the a vailab le intercom  button.

    4. The called station then presses the  flashing intercom 
    bu t to n to  answe r th e i nc o mi ng i nte rc o m c al l. Onc e  t he 
    call is  answered, the following  message displays on  the 
    called station LCD  as  shown.

    When your intercom button signal switch is  in  the:
    †H Mod e  (No L ED)  --  Hand sfree  Mode . You  will  hea r  three  
    bursts of  tone  and  an a nnouncem ent. Re ply hand sfree  or 
    li ft  han dse t for pr iva cy.
    †P M od e  (LED  Fl ash ing)  --  Pri vacy  Mode.  You wi l l h ear  
    thre e b urs ts  of tone  and  a  one- way a nnounceme nt. T he 
    calling p arty  cannot he ar conve rs ations  in  progre ss.
    †T Mo de (L ED  On)  --  Tone  Mod e.  You will he ar repe ated 
    bu r st s o f i nte r co m  to ne  ri ngi ng and  the  HO LD b u tt o n wi ll  
    slow flash. Lift handset  or  press ON/OFF button to 
    answe r.
    Interc om Transfer
    Intercom tran sfer withou t DSS buttons:
    1. Receive or ma ke  an intercom  call.
    2. Press the TRANS button. An  intercom dial tone  sounds.
    3. Di al  th e s ta ti on wh er e c a ll  i s t o b e t r ansfe r re d.
    Whe n 2 nd s ta ti on an swer s,  you a re  in  a  Supe r vis ed

    2. Press the TRANS button. Intercom dial tone  is  heard.

    4. Replace  the  hands et. (S ta tion 1 a nd 2 a re  connec te d)

    1. Pr es s t he  pre-programmed DSS  button  of the  party to be

    You will hear ringing if the called station’s button is in the 
    “T”  position;  or three b urs ts  of  tone if in the “H” or “P” 
    posi t ion.
    2. Lift the  ha ndse t or use  the spe ake rp hone after the tone  
    bur st s s top.
    3. Hang  up to end the call.
    Keyset Mode
    This fea ture allows  you to determine the  mod e a nd b aud rate 
    of the option al  CT I Mod ule connected to you r p hone.  Th is 
    se tt in g i s s tor ed  in  back -up  memor y i n t he  cas e of  a  powe r 
    outa ge or sys tem res et.
