21 BASIC OPERATION Press the NO SHOW button on the Remote Control to black out the image. To restore to normal, press the NO SHOW button again or press any other button. NO SHOW FUNCTION The message disappears after 4 seconds. No show Press the P-TIMER button on the Remote Control. The timer display “00 : 00” appears on the screen and the timer starts to count time (00 : 00 ~ 59 : 59). To stop the P-TIMER display, press the P-TIMER button. And then, press the P-TIMER button again to cancel the P-TIMER function. P-TIMER FUNCTION 1 2 Press the MENU button and the ON-SCREEN MENU will appear. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT buttons to move the red frame pointer to the SOUND Menu icon. Volume Press the VOLUME (+/–) button(s) on the Top Control or on the Remote Control to adjust volume. The volume dialog box appears on the screen for a few seconds. (+) button to increase volume, and (–) button to decrease. Mute Press the MUTE button on the Remote Control to cut off sound. To restore sound to its previous level, press the MUTE button again or press the Volume (+/–) button(s). To increase volume, press the POINT RIGHT button, and press the POINT LEFT button to decrease volume. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button(s) to cut off sound. Dialog box display is changed to “On” and sound is cut off. To restore sound to its previous level, press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button(s) again. Press the POINT DOWN button to move the red frame pointer to the item that you want to select, and then press the SELECT button. Indicates approximate level of volume. Close the SOUND Menu. SOUND ADJUSTMENT DIRECT OPERATION MENU OPERATION Volume Mute Indicates approximate level of volume. Press the MUTE button to set the Mute function On or Off. The display disappears after 4 seconds. 22 COMPUTER INPUT (RGB Scart 21-Pin Video Input) SELECTING INPUT SOURCE MENU OPERATION DIRECT OPERATION Choose either Computer 1 or Computer 2 by pressing the INPUT button on the Top Control or press the COMPUTER button on the Remote Control. If the projector cannot reproduce proper image, select correct input source through MENU OPERATION (see below). Press the MENU button and the ON-SCREEN MENU will appear. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button to move the red frame pointer to the INPUT Menu icon.1 Move the pointer (red arrow) to Computer 2 and press the SELECT button. Computer Move the pointer to RGB or RGB (Scart) and press the SELECT but- ton. Source Select Menu INPUT MENU INPUT Menu iconPress the POINT DOWN button to move the red arrow pointer to either Computer 1 or Computer 2 (Only the Computer 1 is displayed when the Monitor out is selected in the SETTING Menu.), and then press the SELECT button. The Source Select Menu will appear. 2 Move the pointer to the correct input source and then press the SELECT button.3 When digital signal is connected to DVI terminal, select Digital.RGB (Digital) When analog signal is connected to DVI terminal, select Analog.RGB (Analog)Move the pointer (red arrow) to Computer 1 and press the SELECT button. 23 COMPUTER INPUT SELECTING COMPUTER SYSTEM This projector automatically tunes to most different types of computers based on VGA, SVGA, XGA, or SXGA (refer to the “COMPATIBLE COMPUTER SPECIFICATIONS” on page 24). When selecting Computer, this projector automatically tunes to incoming signal and projects proper image without any special setting. (Some computers need setting manually.) The projector displays one of the Auto, - - -, Mode 1/2/3/4/5, or the system provided in the projector. When the projector cannot recognize the connected signal as PC system provided in this projector, the Auto PC Adjustment function operates to adjust the projector and the message “Auto” is displayed on the SYSTEM Menu icon. (Refer to page 25.) When the image is not provided properly, manual adjustment is required. (Refer to page 26, 27.) There is no signal input from the connected computer. Make sure the connection of the computer and the projector is set correctly. (Refer to the TROUBLESHOOTING on page 42.) Auto – – – – The SYSTEM Menu icon displays the system being selected. PC SYSTEM MENU SELECT COMPUTER SYSTEM MANUALLY SYSTEM Menu icon Displays the system being selected. The systems on this dialog box can be selected.Press the MENU button and the ON-SCREEN MENU will appear. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT buttons to move the red frame pointer to the PC SYSTEM Menu icon. Press the POINT DOWN button to move the red arrow pointer to the system that you want to set, and then press the SELECT button. 1 2 PC SYSTEM MENU Custom Mode (1~5) set in the PC ADJUST Menu. (P26, 27) This projector automatically selects the PC system among those provided in this projector and PC system can also be selected manually. User preset adjustment in MANUAL PC ADJUSTMENT. Adjustment data can be stored in the Mode 1 - 5. Mode 1 Computer systems provided in the projector. The projector chooses proper system and displays it. SVGA 1 *Mode 1 and SVGA 1 are examples. NOTE The PC SYSTEM Menu cannot be selected when the input signal is digital.
24 COMPUTER INPUT COMPATIBLE COMPUTER SPECIFICATIONS Basically this projector can accept the signal from all computers with the V, H-Frequency below mentioned and less than 100 MHz of Dot Clock. 25 COMPUTER INPUT PC ADJUSTMENT AUTO PC ADJUSTMENT Auto PC Adjustment function is provided to automatically adjust Fine sync, Total dots, Horizontal, and Vertical to conform to your computer. Auto PC Adjustment function can be operated as follows. Press the MENU button and the ON-SCREEN MENU will appear. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button to move the red frame pointer to the PC ADJUST Menu icon.1 2Press the POINT DOWN button to move the red frame pointer to the AUTO PC Adj. icon and then press the SELECT button twice. This Auto PC Adjustment can also be executed by pressing the AUTO PC ADJ. button on the Remote Control. Move the red frame pointer to the AUTO PC Adj. icon and press the SELECT button. PC ADJUST MENU Auto PC Adj. PC ADJUST Menu icon Store adjustment parameters. Adjustment parameters from Auto PC Adjustment can be memorized in this projector. Once parameters are memorized, the setting can be done just by selecting Mode in the PC SYSTEM Menu (P23). Refer to the step 3 of the MANUAL PC ADJUSTMENT section (P27). NOTE The PC ADJUST Menu cannot be operated when the input signal is digital or RGB is selected in the PC SYSTEM Menu. The Fine sync, Total dots, Horizontal, and Vertical of some computers cannot be fully adjusted with this Auto PC Adjustment function. When the image is not provided properly through this function, manual adjustments are required. (Refer to page 26, 27.) The Auto PC Adjustment function cannot be operated when “720p (HDTV),” “1035i (HDTV)”, or “1080i (HDTV)” is selected in the PC SYSTEM Menu (P23).
26 COMPUTER INPUT MANUAL PC ADJUSTMENT This projector can automatically tune to the display signals from most personal computers currently distributed. However, some computers employ special signal formats which are different from the standard ones and may not be tuned by Multi- Scan system of this projector. If this happens, the projector cannot reproduce a proper image and the image may be recognized as a flickering picture, a non-synchronized picture, a non-centered picture or a skewed picture. This projector has Manual PC Adjustment to enable you to precisely adjust several parameters to match with those special signal formats. This projector has 5 independent memory areas to memorize those parameters manually adjusted. This enables you to recall the setting for a specific computer whenever you use it. Press the MENU button and the ON-SCREEN MENU will appear. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button to move the red frame pointer to the PC ADJUST Menu icon.1 2Press the POINT DOWN button to move the red frame pointer to the item that you want to adjust and then press the SELECT button. An adjustment dialog box will appear. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button to adjust value. Move the red frame pointer to the item and press the SELECT button. PC ADJUST MENU PC ADJUST Menu icon Adjusts an image as necessary to eliminate flicker from the display. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button to adjust value.(From 0 to 31.) Fine sync The number of total dots in one horizontal period. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button(s) and adjust number to match your PC image. Total dots Adjusts horizontal picture position. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button(s) to adjust the position. Horizontal Adjusts vertical picture position. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button(s) to adjust the position. Vertical Press the SELECT button to show the information of computer selected. Current mode Adjusts clamp level. When the image has a dark bar(s), try this adjustment. Clamp Press the SELECT button at this icon to adjust “Clamp,” “Display area (H/V)” or set “Full screen.” Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button to adjust the value. Shows status (Stored / Free) of the selected Mode. Selected Mode Press the SELECT button at the Current mode icon to show the information of the computer connected. Current mode
27 COMPUTER INPUT NOTE : The Full screen cannot be selected after the Display area, Display area H, and Display area V are adjusted. Selects the area displayed by this projector. Select the resolution at the Display area dialog box. Display area Adjustment of the horizontal area displayed by this projector. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button(s) to decrease/increase value and then press the SELECT button. Display area H Adjustment of the vertical area displayed by this projector. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button(s) to decrease/increase value and then press the SELECT button. Display area V When this function is on, SXGA image is fully displayed at 4 : 3 aspect ratio. It is displayed at 5 : 4 aspect ratio with this function off. Full screen Reset Store Closes the PC ADJUST MENU. Quit Other icons operate as follows. 3 To store adjustment parameters, move the red frame pointer to the Store icon and then press the SELECT button. Move the red arrow pointer to any of Mode 1 to 5 that you want to store to and then press the SELECT button. Reset all adjust parameters on the adjustment dialog box to previous figure. Mode free Vacant Mode Shows values of “Total dots,” “Horizontal,” “Vertical,” “Display area H,” and “Display area V.” Close this dialog box. To store adjustment data. To clear adjustment data. To clear adjustment parameters previously set, move the red frame pointer to Mode free icon and then press the SELECT button. Move the red arrow pointer to the Mode that you want to clear and then press the SELECT button.Display area Press the POINT LEFT /RIGHT button(s) to adjust value and then press the SELECT button.Press the SELECT button at the Display area icon and the Display area dialog box appears. This Mode has parameters being stored. NOTE The Fine sync, Total dots, Display area (H/V), and Full screen cannot be adjusted when “1035i (HDTV)” or “1080i (HDTV)” is selected in the PC SYSTEM Menu (P23).

IMAGE ADJUST MENU IMAGE LEVEL ADJUSTMENT Press the POINT LEFT button to decrease contrast and the POINT RIGHT button to increase contrast. (From 0 to 63.) Press the POINT LEFT button to adjust image darker and the POINT RIGHT button to adjust brighter. (From 0 to 63.) Contrast Brightness Press either POINT LEFT button or POINT RIGHT button to obtain better balance of contrast. (From 0 to 15.) GammaImage Level Menu Move the red frame pointer to any of Image 1 to 4 where you want to set and then press the SELECT button. Store icon Press the SELECT button at this icon to store the adjustment. IMAGE ADJUST Menu icon Press the POINT LEFT button to lighten red tone and the POINT RIGHT button to deepen red tone. (From 0 to 63.) White balance (Red) Press the POINT LEFT button to lighten green tone and the POINT RIGHT button to deepen green tone. (From 0 to 63.) White balance (Green) Press the POINT LEFT button to lighten blue tone and the POINT RIGHT button to deepen blue tone. (From 0 to 63.) White balance (Blue) Selected Image level When this function is ON, it automatically enhances contrast of bright and dark part of image. When this function is ON, it automatically produces more vivid image according to image condition. Auto grayscale Auto fleshtone Press the POINT LEFT button to lighten color and the POINT RIGHT button to deepen color. (From 0 to 63.) Press the POINT LEFT button or the POINT RIGHT button to obtain proper color. (From 0 to 63.) Color Tint Press the POINT LEFT button to soften the image and the POINT RIGHT button to sharpen the image. (From 0 to 15.) Sharpness NOTE Auto grayscale cannot be operated when the input signal is digital.
30 COMPUTER INPUT PICTURE SCREEN ADJUSTMENT This projector has a picture screen resize function, which enables you to display the desirable image size. Press the MENU button and the ON-SCREEN MENU will appear. Press the POINT LEFT/RIGHT button(s) to move the red frame pointer to the SCREEN Menu icon. When the Digital zoom + is selected, the ON-SCREEN MENU disappears and the message “D. Zoom +” is displayed. Press the SELECT button to expand the image size. And press the POINT UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT button(s) to pan the image. The Panning function can work only when the image is larger than the screen size. A projected image can be also expanded by pressing the D.ZOOM button on the Remote Control. 1 To cancel the Digital Zoom +/– mode, press any button except the D.ZOOM /, SELECT, and POINT buttons. Move the red frame to the function and press the SELECT button. Press the POINT DOWN button and move the red frame pointer to the function that you want to select and then press the SELECT button.2 Wide Digital zoom + NOTE This SCREEN Menu cannot be operated when “1035i (HDTV)” or “1080i (HDTV)” is selected in the PC SYSTEM Menu (P23). The Wide cannot be selected when “720p (HDTV)” is selected in the PC SYSTEM Menu (P23). The True and Digital zoom +/– cannot be selected when “RGB” is selected in the PC SYSTEM Menu (P23). This projector cannot display any resolution higher than 1280 X 1024. If your computer’s screen resolution is higher than 1280 X 1024, reset the resolution to the lower before connecting projector. The image data in other than SVGA (800 x 600) is modified to fit the screen size in initial mode. The panning function may not operate properly if the computer system prepared in the PC ADJUST Menu is used. Provides image to fit screen size. Normal True SCREEN MENU SCREEN Menu icon When the Digital zoom – is selected, the ON-SCREEN MENU disappears and the message “D. Zoom –” is displayed. Press the SELECT button to compress the image size. A projected image can be also compressed by pressing the D.ZOOM button on the Remote Control. Digital zoom – Provides image in its original size. When the original image size is larger than the screen size (800 x 600), this projector enters “Digital zoom +” mode automatically. Provides image to fit wide video aspect ratio (16 : 9) by expanding image width uniformly. This function can be used for providing a squeezed video signal at 16 : 9. Reset all adjustment to their previous levels. Reset Store Closes the IMAGE MENU. Quit Other icons operate as follows. 3 To store manually preset image, move the red frame pointer to the Store icon and press the SELECT button. The Image Level Menu will appear. Move the red frame pointer to the Image 1 to 4 where you want to set and then press the SELECT button.
