11 CONNECTING PROJECTOR TERMINALS OF PROJECTOR This projector has input and output terminals on its back for connecting computers and video equipment. Refer to figures on pages 11 to 13 and connect properly. COMPUTER IN 1DVI - I MONITOR OUT S – VIDEO COMPUTER IN 2 / (MONO)R – AUDIO IN – LVIDEOY – Pb / Cb – Pr / Cr AUDIO IN COMPUTERR – – LAUDIO OUT USBCONTROL PORT RESET When controlling the computer with Remote Control of this projector, connect the mouse port of your personal computer to this connector. (Refer to P12.) Connect the S-VIDEO output from video equipment to this jack. (Refer to P13.) Connect the audio output (stereo) from computer to this jack. (Refer to P12.) Connect the audio output from video equipment to these jacks. (Refer to P13.) When the audio output is monaural, connect it to L (MONO) jack. CONTROL PORT CONNECTOR COMPUTER AUDIO INPUT JACK AUDIO INPUT JACKSVIDEO INPUT JACKSS-VIDEO INPUT JACK Connect the composite video output from video equipment to VIDEO/Y jack or connect the component video outputs to VIDEO/Y, Pb/Cb and Pr/Cr jacks. (Refer to P13.) COMPUTER INPUT (DIGITAL/ANALOG) Connect an external audio amplifier to these jacks. (Refer to P12, 13.) AUDIO OUTPUT JACKS This projector uses a micro processor to control this unit, and occasionally, this micro processor may malfunction and need to be reset. This can be done by pressing RESET button with a pen, which will shut down and restart the unit. Do not use RESET function excessively. RESET BUTTON When controlling the computer with Remote Control of this projector, connect USB port of your personal computer to this connector. (Refer to P12.) USB CONNECTOR (Series B) This terminal is switchable and can be used as computer input or monitor output. Set the terminal up as either Computer input or Monitor output properly before using this terminal. (Refer to P12, 36.) Note:This terminal outputs analog signal from COMPUTER IN 1 DVI-I terminal only. COMPUTER INPUT / MONITOR OUTPUT TERMINAL Connect computer output (Digital / Analog DVI-I type) to this terminal. (Refer to P12.)

(P25) KEYSTONE BUTTON Used to correct keystone distortion. (P20, 36) IMAGE BUTTON Used to select image level. (P28, 33) LOCK FREEZE SELECT D.ZOOM MUTE VOLUME- MENU NO SHOW IMAGE VOLUME+ KEYSTONE LASER P-TIMER ZOOM COMPUTER VIDEO FOCUS AUTO PCON-OFFONALL OFF ALL-OFF SWITCH Left Side When using the Remote Control, turn this switch to “ON.” And turn it to “ALL OFF” when it is not used. This Remote Control emits a laser beam as laser pointer function from the Laser Light Window. When the LASER button is pressed, laser light goes on. And when the LASER button is being pressed for more than 1 minute or the LASER button is released, light goes off. The LASER POINTER INDICATOR lights RED and Laser is emitted with RED light to indicate laser beam is being emitted. The Laser emitted is a class IIlaser; therefore, do not look into the Laser Light Window or shine the laser beam on yourself or other people. Three marks below are caution labels for laser beam. CAUTION: Use of controls, adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified herein may result hazardous radiation exposure. Laser Light Window These caution labels are put on remote control. LASER POINTER FUNCTION POWER ON-OFF BUTTON Used to turn the projector on or off. (P19) LASER BUTTON Used to operate Laser Pointer function. Laser beam is emitted while pressing this button within 1 minute. When using this Laser Pointer for more than 1 minute, release the LASER button and press it again. The indicator lights red while the laser beam is emitted from Laser Light Window. It lights green in drag ON position. (P40) LASER POINTER (Drag ON) INDICATOR LASER POINTER INDICATOR MUTE BUTTON Used to mute sound. (P21) SW1 SW2 SW3 Code No. DIP SWITCH SETTINGSW4 ........ 15 BEFORE OPERATION To insure safe operation, please observe the following precautions : Use (2) AA, UM3 or R06 type alkaline batteries. Replace two batteries at the same time. Do not use a new battery with a used battery. Avoid contact with water or liquid. Do not expose the Remote Control to moisture, or heat. Do not drop the Remote Control. If a battery has leaked on Remote Control, carefully wipe case clean and install new batteries. Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type. Dispose of used batteries according to the instructions. Press lid down- ward and slide it. Remove the battery compartment lid.Slide the batteries into compartment.Replace the compartment lid. Two AA size batteries For correct polarity (+ and –), be sure battery terminals are in contact with pins in compartment. REMOTE CONTROL BATTERIES INSTALLATION 123 Operating Range Point the Remote Control toward projector (Infrared Remote Receiver) whenever pressing any button. Maximum operating range for Remote Control is about 16.4’ (5m) and 60°in front and rear of the projector. 16.4’ (5 m) 60° 16.4’ (5 m) Used to operate P-TIMER function. (P30) POINT (VOLUME +/-) BUTTONS Used to select an item or adjust value in ON- SCREEN MENU. They are also used to pan image in DIGITAL ZOOM +/- mode. And it flashes green in Power Management mode. (P37) Becomes dim when the projector is turned on. And it is bright when the projector is in stand-by mode. Turns yellow when the life of the projection lamp draws to an end. (P38) Flashes red when the internal projector temperature is too high. (P41) Used to select input source. (P22, 31) Used to select an item or adjust value in ON-SCREEN MENU. They are also used to pan the image in DIGITAL ZOOM +/– mode. (P30) POINT LEFT/RIGHT buttons are also used as VOLUME +/– buttons. Used to execute the item selected. It is also used to expand / compress the image in DIGITAL ZOOM mode. (P30) Used to turn the projector on or off. (P19) Used to adjust zoom. (P20) FOCUS BUTTON Used to adjust focus. (P20) ZOOM BUTTON This projector has CONTROL BUTTONS (TOP CONTROLS) and INDICATORS on its top.
17 BEFORE OPERATION HOW TO OPERATE ON-SCREEN MENU FLOW OF ON-SCREEN MENU OPERATION Display ON-SCREEN MENU Press the MENU button to display the ON-SCREEN MENU (MENU BAR). A red frame is a POINTER. Move the POINTER (red frame) to the MENU ICON that you want to select by pressing the POINT RIGHT / LEFT buttons. Adjust the ITEM DATA by pressing the POINT RIGHT / LEFT buttons. Refer to the following pages for details of respective adjustments. Press the POINT DOWN button and move the POINTER (red frame or red arrow) to the ITEM that you want to adjust, and then press the SELECT button to show the ITEM DATA. Select Menu to be adjusted Control or adjust item through ON-SCREEN MENU 1 2 4 3 You can control and adjust this projector through the ON-SCREEN MENU. Refer to the following pages to operate each adjustment on the ON-SCREEN MENU. 2 MOVING POINTER 3 SELECT ITEM Move the pointer (✽see below) or adjust the value of an item by pressing the POINT button(s) on the Top Control or on the Remote Control. [Contrast / Brightness / Color / Tint / White balance (R/G/B) / Sharpness / Gamma / Auto grayscale / Auto fleshtone] (Refer to P29,30) SETTING MENU Used to change settings of the projector or reset the Lamp Replace Counter. (Refer to P36, 37) SOUND MENU Used to adjust volume or mute sound. (Refer to P21) IMAGE SELECT MENU Used to select an image level among Standard, Real and Image 1 ~ 4. (Refer to P28) FOR PC SOURCEPress the MENU BUTTON while connecting to PC input source. AV SYSTEM MENU Used to select system of selected video source. (Refer to P32) IMAGE ADJUST MENU Used to adjust picture image. [Contrast / Brightness / Color / Tint / White balance (R/G/B) /Sharpness / Gamma / Auto grayscale / Auto fleshtone] (Refer to P34, 35) FOR VIDEO SOURCEPress MENU BUTTON while connecting to VIDEO input source. Same function as Menu for PC source. INPUT MENU Used to select input source either Video or Computer. (Refer to P31) PC ADJUST MENU Used to adjust parameters to match with input signal format. (Refer to P25-27) IMAGE SELECT MENU Used to select an image level among Standard, Cinema and Image 1 ~ 4. (Refer to P33)SCREEN MENU Used to set size of image to Normal or Wide. (Refer to P35) GUIDE WINDOW Shows the selected item of the ON- SCREEN MENU. Same function as Menu for PC source. INPUT MENU Used to select input source either Computer or Video. (Refer to P22) SCREEN MENU Used to adjust size of image. [Normal / True / Wide / Digital zoom +/–] (Refer to P30)
19 BASIC OPERATION TURNING ON PROJECTOR TURNING ON / OFF PROJECTOR Connect the projectors AC Power Cord into an AC outlet. The LAMP Indicator lights red, and the READY Indicator lights green. Press the POWER ON-OFF button on the Top Control or on the Remote Control to ON. The LAMP Indicator dims, and the Cooling Fans start to operate. The Preparation Display appears on the screen and the count-down starts. 2 3 TURNING OFF PROJECTOR Press the POWER ON-OFF button on the Top Control or on the Remote Control, and a message Power off? appears on a screen. Press the POWER ON-OFF button again to turn off the projector. The LAMP Indicator lights bright and the READY Indicator turns off. After the projector is turned off, the Cooling Fans operate (for 90 seconds). 1 2 TO MAINTAIN THE LIFE OF LAMP, ONCE YOU TURN PROJECTOR ON, WAIT AT LEAST 5 MINUTES BEFORE TURNING IT OFF. DO NOT DISCONNECT AC POWER CORD BEFORE READY INDICATOR LIGHTS GREEN. When WARNING TEMP. Indicator flashes red, the projector is automatically turned off. Wait at least 5 minutes before turning on the projector again. When the WARNING TEMP. Indicator continues to flash, refer to the section MAINTENANCE on page 41 and proper maintenance should be taken. 1Complete peripheral connections (with Computer, VCR, etc.) before turning on the projector. (Refer to CONNECTING PROJECTOR on page 11~13.) 3When the projector has cooled down, the READY Indicator lights green again. 26 The Preparation Display disappears after 30 seconds. Power off? The message disappears after 4 seconds. When “Power management” function is ON, the projector detects signal interruption and turns off the Projection Lamp automatically. Refer to “Power management” on page 37. NOTE : When “On start” function is ON, this projector is turned on automatically by connecting AC Power Cord to an AC outlet. (Refer to the menu item On start on page 37.) NOTE : The Projector cannot be turned on during cooling period with the READY Indicator off. You can turn it on again after the READY Indicator lights green. note on operation 4The input source that was selected last and the Lamp mode status icon appears on the screen after the count-down. The signal from PC or Video source appears after 30 seconds.*Refer to page 37 for the Lamp mode. Lamp mode
20 Press the FREEZE button on the Remote Control to freeze the picture on-screen. To cancel the FREEZE function, press the FREEZE button again or press any other button. PICTURE FREEZE FUNCTION KEYSTONE ADJUSTMENT 1Press the KEYSTONE button on the Remote Control or select Keystone on the SETTING menu. (Refer to page 36.) The Keystone dialog box appears. 2Correct keystone distortion by pressing the POINT UP/DOWN button(s) on the Top Control or on the Remote Control. Press the POINT UP button to reduce the upper part of the image, and press the POINT DOWN button to reduce the lower part. If the projected picture has keystone distortion, correct the image with KEYSTONE adjustment. BASIC OPERATION ADJUSTING SCREEN The message disappears after 4 seconds. The message disappears after 4 seconds. Zoom Focus ZOOM ADJUSTMENT FOCUS ADJUSTMENT 1Press the ZOOM button on the Top Control or the ZOOM / button on Remote Control. The message “Zoom” is displayed. 2Press the ZOOM button or POINT UP button to make image larger, and press the ZOOM button or the POINT DOWN button to make image smaller. 1Press the FOCUS button on the Top Control or the FOCUS / button on the Remote Control. The message “Focus” is displayed. 2Adjust focus of image by pressing the FOCUS /button or the POINT UP/DOWN button(s) . •The arrows are white when there is no correction. •The arrow disappears at the maximum correction. •The direction of the arrow being corrected turns red. •If you press the KEYSTONE button on the Remote Control once more while the keystone dialog box is being displayed, the keystone adjustment will be canceled. Reduce the upper width with the POINT UP button. Reduce the lower width with the POINT DOWN button.
