86 Accessing Twitter Note: This procedure uses the QWERTY keyboard and command keys. Rotate the phone and slide it open to access the QWERTY keyboard. 1. From the Home screen, press the Social Networks Key on the QWERTY keyboard, then select Update Status. 2. Choose an option: : Enter text to update your Twitter account. Twitter.com: Launch the Twitter site. Tip: Press the Right Soft Key Help for information about accessing Twitter. Emergency Alerts This device is designed to rece ive Wireless Emergency Alerts from the Commercial Mobile Alert Service (CMAS). Emergency Alerts are geographically-targeted, and alert customers to imminent threats to their safety within their area. There is no charge for receiving an Emergency Alert. There are three types of Emergency Alerts: Presidential Imminent (Severe or Extreme) AMBER Alerts (missing persons) Customers may choose not to receive Imminent Alerts and AMBER Alerts. Presidential Alerts cannot be disabled. To disable Imminent Threat Alerts (Extreme and Severe) and AMBER Alerts, follow these instructions: 1. From the Home screen, press the Center Select Key to select MENU ➔ Messaging. 2. Press the Left Soft Key Settings ➔ Emergency Alerts ➔ Receive Alerts. 3. All alerts are enabled by default (check mark showing). To disable alerts, highligh t an alert and press the Center Select Key UNMARK, then press the Left Soft Key Done .

Messaging 87 Mobile Email Send and receive Email using Mobile Email. Note: This procedure uses the QWERTY keyboard and command keys. Rotate the phone and slide it open to access the QWERTY keyboard. 1. From the Home screen, press the Center Select Key to select MENU ➔ Mobile Email. – or – From the Home screen, press the Center Select Key to select MENU ➔ Messaging ➔ Mobile Email. 2. Follow the on-screen prompts for subscribing. Note: Subscription rates apply for Mobile Email. 3. Use the Directional Keys to highlight an Email provider, then press the Center Select Key OK. 4. Use the provider’s on-screen functions and options to use the Email application.

88 Messaging Settings Define settings for messages sent and received on your phone. Note: This procedure uses the QWERTY keyboard and command keys. Rotate the phone and slide it open to access the QWERTY keyboard. 1. From the Home screen, press the Center Select Key to select MENU ➔ Messaging. 2. Press the Left Soft Key Settings: : Set the default message view. Choose Time to display messages by time received, or Contact to display messages by name or number (also known as threaded view). Entry Mode: Set the default text entry mode. For more information about available modes, see “Entering Text” on page 61. Auto Save Sent: Choose the default save mode for messages you send. Choose On to save sent messages, Off to discard them, or Prompt to have the phone prompt you each time. Auto Erase Inbox: Choose On to automatically replace the oldest message of the same type when the Inbox exceeds the maximum number of messages. Choose Off to disable automatic erasures. Messaging Font Size: Set the default size for message text to Normal or Large. : Choose On to automatically display text messages when they arrive, or Off to have the phone prompt you. Multimedia Auto Receive: Choose On to automatically accept new multimedia messages. Choose Off to have the phone prompt you to download new multimedia messages. Group Messaging: Choose a default behavior for replies to your group messages from recipients. Choose Individual Messages to have replies treated as “Blind Copy”, where recipients can’t see others on the To: list, and replies come only to you, or Group Conversation to have replies treated as “Reply All”, where all the recipients can see the entire To: list, and replies go to all recipients with compatible devices in the original To: list. Group Conversation messages are treated as multimedia messages.

Messaging 89 Domain Extensions: Create and manage a list of standard web and Email extensions. Press the Left Soft Key Erase to delete extensions. Press the Right Soft Key New to create new extensions. To modify an extension, highlight the extension, then press the Center Select Key EDIT. : Create and manage phrases you can insert into messages. Press the Left Soft Key Erase to delete phrases. Press the Right Soft Key Options ➔ New to create new phrases. To modify a phrase, highlight the phrase, then press Center Select Key EDIT. : This device is designed to receive Wireless Emergency Alerts from the Commercial Mobile Alert Service (CMAS), including Presidential Alerts, Imminent Alerts (Severe or Extreme), and AMBER Alerts (missing persons). To disable alerts, highlight an alert and press the Center Select Key MARK, then press the Left Soft Key Done to save the configuration. –Alert Reminder: Highlight an interval for reminders that you have a CMAS message, then press the Center Select Key SET to save the setting. –Alert Vibrate: Highlight On to enable vibration for Emergency Alerts, or Off to disable, then press the Center Select Key SET to save the setting. Voicemail #: Enter a new Voicemail speed dial. The default is *86. Callback #: Choose On to add a callback phone number to your messages, and set the phone number. Choose Off to omit a callback number (you can manually add a callback number to individual messages). : Choose Custom to add a signature to all messages, then use the Directional Key to move to the signature field to create the signature. Choose None to disable signatures. Delivery Receipt: Choose whether you are notified when a message you send is delivered. Choose On to be notified for every message, or Off to disable notification (you can set an optional delivery receipt for individual messages).

Use the Directional Key to highlight a sound, then choose one of these actions: Press the Left Soft Key Set As to assign the ringtone as the default Ringtone, as a ringtone for a Contact ID, or as Alert Sounds for All Messages, TXT Message, Multimedia Message , or Voicemail, or as Fake Call Voice. Press the Center Select Key PLAY to hear the sound. (Only available for sounds you ha ve recorded, if an optional memory card is installed.) –Lock/Unlock: Protect the sound file from deletion, or remove protection. (Only available for sounds you have recorded.) –Erase: Delete the highlighted sound file. (Only available for sounds you have recorded.) –Erase Files: Mark sounds for deletion. (Only available for sounds you have recorded.) –File Info: View details about the sound file.

Use the Directional Key to highlight Record New, then press the Center Select Key OK. 3. Press the Left Soft Key Set RecTime to set the recording time. Use the Directional Key to highlight an option, then press the Center Select Key OK: Limit for Send: Set the time limit for the new sound to 1 minute, suitable for sending in a Multimedia Message. : Set the new sound for no time limit. 4. Use these actions to record a sound file: Press the Center Select Key OK to start recording. Press the Left Soft Key Pause to pause recording, then press the Left Soft Key again to Resume recording. 5. Press the Center Select Key STOP to stop recording and save the sound. Picture & Video Manage pictures stored on your phone, or on an optional installed memory card. Get New Pictures Download new pictures and wallp aper from the Media Center catalog. 1. From the Home screen, press the Center Select Key to select MENU ➔ Media Center ➔ Picture & Video ➔ Get New Pictures. 2. Download an application fo r finding pictures. Use the Directional Key to highlight Get New Applications, then press the Center Select Key OK to proceed. 3. Follow the prompts to do wnload and install the application and find pictures.
