56 In Case of Emergency Use In Case of Emergency to assign up to 3 emergency contacts, plus enter personal information that may be helpful to others using your phone in an emergency. Tip: Emergency contacts display in red in the Contacts List. Assigning Emergency Contacts Note: This procedure uses the QWERTY keyboard and command keys. Rotate the phone and slide it open to access the QWERTY keyboard. 1. From the Home screen, press the Center Select Key to select MENU ➔ Contacts ➔ In Case of Emergency . 2. Use the Directional Keys to highlight Contact 1, Contact 2, or Contact 3, then press the Center Select Key ADD. 3. In the ADD CONTACT screen, use the Directional Keys to highlight an option and press the Center Select Key OK: : Choose an existing contact from Contacts List, then press the Center Select Key OK. Enter a new contact, then press the Center Select Key SAVE to save the new contact and set it as an Emergency Contact. Re-assigning or Unassigning Emergency Contacts Note: This procedure uses the QWERTY keyboard and command keys. Rotate the phone and slide it open to access the QWERTY keyboard. 1. From the Home screen, press the Center Select Key to select MENU ➔ Contacts ➔ In Case of Emergency . 2. Use the Directional Keys to highlight a contact. 3. Press the Right Soft Key Options, then choose an option: : Choose another contact from Contacts List, or create a new contact for this assignment. Unassign: Remove the contact from this emergency contact.

From the Home screen, press the Center Select Key to select MENU ➔ Contacts ➔ In Case of Emergency . 2. Use the Directional Keys to highlight Personal Info , then press the Center Select Key VIEW. 3. Use the Directional Keys to highlight Note 1, Note 2, or Note 3, then press the Center Select Key ADD. 4. Enter your personal inform ation into the note, then press the Center Select Key SAVE to save the note. My Name Card My Name Card is your personal contact entry in Contacts, which you can send to recipients as a virtual business card (vCard) attached to a message, or via Bluetooth. Note: Navigation for this proced ure may differ when an optional memory card is installed.

From the Home screen, press the Center Select Key to select MENU ➔ Contacts ➔ My Name Card. 2. Press the Right Soft Key Options ➔ Send Via Bluetooth . 3. Use the Directional Keys to highlight an option, then press the Center Select Key OK: Add New Device: Search for a new Bluetooth device for pairing, to send My Name Card. : Send My Name Card to a previously-paired Bluetooth device. 4. Continue with the Bluetooth transfer. For more information about adding devices and sending via Bluetooth, see “Bluetooth Menu” on page 136. Sending Name Cards (vCards) by Bluetooth You can send individual contacts , or your entire contact list, to Bluetooth devices that support vCards. Not all Bluetooth devices will support transfers of multiple name cards. Check the target device’s documentation. A vCard contains all contact information except Group, Ringtone, and Emergency (ICE) contact status. Note: This procedure uses the QWERTY keyboard and command keys. Rotate the phone and slide it open to access the QWERTY keyboard. 1. From the Home screen, press the Right Soft Key Contacts. 2. Press the Right Soft Key Options ➔ Send Name Card ➔ Bluetooth. 3. Mark contact(s) for sending. Use the Directional Keys to highlight contacts, then press the Center Select Key Mark to mark them for sending. When finished, press the Left Soft Key Done.

This section describes text input modes and entering characters or symbols, using the built-in QWERTY keyboard or the keypad. Using the QWERTY Keyboard The built-in QWERTY keyboard provides quick and easy text input, similar to a computer keyboard. Accessing the QWERTY Keyboard To access the keyboard, rotate the phone and slide it open, as shown.
62 Choosing a Text Entr y Mode While entering text, you can choose a text entry mode. Tip: You can set a default Text Entry Mode. For more information, see “Messaging Settings” on page 88. 1. While entering text, press the Left Soft Key Entry Mode. 2. Select a text entry mode. Available modes depend on the type of text field. Entering Text in Abc/ABC/abc Mode Enter text by pressing the ke ys on the QWERTY keyboard. Use these keys to enter special characters: Abc ABC 123 XT9 Word SymbolsSmileys Domain ExtensionsQuick Text XT9 Palabra Clear: Press to delete the previous character. Press and hold to delete the previous word. Enter: Press to move the insertion point to the next line, or to the next field. Shift: Press to switch between Abc (initial case), ABC (upper case), and abc (lower case) modes. Press twice quickly to lock ABC mode, then press again to unlock. Space: Press to insert a space. From the Home screen, you can press this key to access Social Networks.
Entering Text 63 Using XT9 XT9 is a predictive text entry mode that recognizes common English words matching the sequence of your key presses and inserts the most common word into your text. Tip: XT9 is available for English, Spanish, and Vietnamese. 1. While entering text, press the Left Soft Key Entry Mode ➔ XT9 Word. 2. Press the key for each letter. As you press keys, XT9 displays matching words. If the correct word displays after entering a few characters, press any Directional Key to accept it and start entering the next word. Enter all the letters of a word before editing or deleting characters. Press the Clear Key to backspace and clear one character, or press and hold to clear an entire word. Press the Shift Key to toggle between XT9 Word (initial case), XT9 word (lower case) and XT9 WORD (upper case). Entering Numbers Enter numbers by pressing the number keys on the top row of the QWERTY keyboard. Entering Symbols Enter symbols by pressing the Function key to access the orange symbols at the top of the keys. While entering text, press the Function Key, then press the key showing the desired orange symbol. – or – While entering text, press the Left Soft Key Entry Mode ➔ Symbols, then press the key showing the desired orange symbol.
64 Using Quick Text Quick Text are pre-loaded phrases that you can insert into your messages, or create your own phrases. 1. While entering text, press the Left Soft Key Entry Mode ➔ Quick Text. 2. Use the Directional Keys to highlight a phrase, then press the Center Select Key OK to insert it. Managing Quick Text Edit or delete Quick Text phrases, create your own phrases, and set the order phrases appear in the Quick Text list. 1. While entering text, press the Left Soft Key Entry Mode ➔ Quick Text. 2. To erase a phrase, highlight the phrase, then press the Left Soft Key Erase. 3. For other options, press the Right Soft Key Options : To enter a new phrases, select New, then enter the phrases and press the Center Select Key SAVE. To edit a phrase, highlight a phrase and select Edit, then make changes and press the Center Select Key SAVE. To change the order phrases appear in the Quick Text list, highlight a phrase and select Move, then use the Directional Keys to move the phrase to a new position in the list. Press the Center Select Key SAVE to set the new list order.
