Cleaning the Paper Feed Roller 139 7 ESlide the green lock lever to the right ( ), so that the paper feed roller can be released ( ). FWipe the rubber part of the roller with a soft damp cloth. After that, wipe it with a dry cloth to remove the water. Do not use chemical cleaner or organic solvent such as thinner or benzene. GWhile sliding the green lock lever to the right ( ), set the paper feed roller to its original position ( ). After that, return the green lock lever to its orig- inal position ( ). Confirm that the green lock lever secures the roller correctly by confirming that the roller rotates smoothly. AET402S AET401S
Cleaning the Printer 140 7 HMove the printer back to its original position. Lift the front of the tray, and slide it carefully into the printer until it stops. Do not slide the paper tray in with force. If you do, the front and side guides might move. IInsert the plug of the power cord into the wall socket securely. ATurn off the power, and then unplug the power cable. BCarefully open the printers front cover (A) of by pulling left and right side levers. CSet the registration roller as shown. 143 8. Adjusting the Printer Adjusting the Color Registration After moving the printer, printing on thick paper, or printing repeatedly for some time, color degradation may occur. By performing color registration ad- justment, you can restore optimum print quality. If documents show color degradation after the printer is moved, perform auto- matic color adjustment. APress the {Menu} key. BSelect [Maintenance] using {T} or {U}, and then press the {OK} key. CSelect [Quality Maintenance] using {T} or {U}, and then press the {OK} key. Correcting the Color Gradation 145 8 Correcting the Color Gradation Color gradation during color printing changes slightly, depending on a number of factors. If you print the same file repeatedly or toner was recently replaced, changes may occur in color tones. When this happens, to obtain suitable print re- sults, color gradation can be corrected, although it is not usually necessary to make any particular settings. Note ❒If suitable results cannot be obtained after a single operation, repeat the cor- rection several times, as needed. ❒Corrections to color gradation will be applied to all user jobs. ❒Use the same type of paper when printing a run of gradation corrections. If a different type of paper is used, corrections may not be apparent. ❒This requires the use of the supplied Color Calibration Sample Sheet. ❒Corrections to color gradation are performed in the following order: APrint gradation correction sheet 1. BAdjust the parts of highlight colors. Set the correction value. Print the gradation correction sheet, and then check the result of the cor- rection. CPrint gradation correction sheet 2. DAdjust the parts of middle colors. Set the correction value. Print the gradation correction sheet, and then check the result of the cor- rection. ESave the correction value. Adjusting the Printer 146 8 Set the Gradation Correction Value During printing, you can correct the gradation in two areas: bright part (high- light) and the medium (middle). The correction value for the highlight and the medium parts are set using [Print Sheet 1] and [Print Sheet 2] respectively. APress the {Menu} key. BSelect [Maintenance] using {T} or {U}, and then press the {OK} key. CSelect [Quality Maintenance] using {T} or {U}, and then press the {OK} key. The confirmation message appears. press [OK]. When it is completed, the confirmation message appears. press [Exit]. FIn the Caribration menu, select [Print Sheet 1] or [Print Sheet 2] using {T} or {U}, and then press the {OK} key. The confirmation message appears. press [Print]. GWhen printing is complete, the confirmation message appears. press [Con- tinue]. If you want to exit from this menu, press [Exit]. HSelect the color you want to adjust using {T} or {U}, and then press the {OK} key. IAdjust the selected colors setting by entering value using {T} or {U}, an then press the {OK} key.
Adjusting the Printer 148 8 JPress [Result] to check the result by printing the calibration sheet. On the confirmation screen, press [Print]. KAfter printing, press [Yes] to save the settings. LAfter completing all settings, press the {Menu} key to return to the initial screen.
