54 Registering Optional Handsets Registration is necessary for optional handsets. The included handset is\ pre-registered at the factory and assigned the handset number 1. Do not try to register the handset number 1. You can register up to 4 handsets at the base unit. Each optional handse\ t will be assigned a number at registration.
