Replacing Consumables 217 Replacing the Transfer Roller
When the time to replace the transfer roller is reached, the message 
Trans. Roll. Life appears. Printing can continue even after this 
message appears; however, since the print quality is reduced, the transfer 
roller should be replaced immediately.
When replacing the transfer roller, also replace the ozone filter. A new ozone 
filter is included with the new transfer roller.

5Insert the shaft of the transfer 
roller into the bearings.
6Move the levers away from you 
until it snaps into place.
7Close the right door.
8Reset the counter with ADMIN. MANAGEMENT/SUPPLIES 
REPLACE/TRANSFER ROLLER
 in the UTILITY menu.
9Replace the ozone filter, using the following procedure.

1Remove the ozone filter from the 
machine.
2Slide the new ozone filter into 
the machine until it snaps into 
place.

When the time to replace the transfer belt unit is reached, the message 
Trans. Belt Life appears. Printing can continue even after this mes-
sage appears; however, since the print quality is reduced, the transfer belt 
unit should be replaced immediately.
1Turn off the machine and discon-
nect the power cord and inter-
face cables.
2Pull the lever, and then open the 
right door.
Before opening the right 
door, fold up Tray 1.

3Use a coin to loosen the screws 
securing the transfer belt unit.
4Open the machine’s front cover.
5Remove the waste toner bottle.
For details on removing 
the waste toner bottle, 
refer to “Replacing the 
Waste Toner Bottle” on 
page 213.

6Remove the all imaging units.
For details on removing 
the imaging unit, refer to 
“Replacing an Imaging 
Unit” on page 207.
Cover the removed imag-
ing unit to protect it from 
direct sunlight.
7Remove the output tray.

8Open the left side cover.
9On the left side, pull to the right 
the blue shutter lever for the 
transfer belt unit.
Do not remove the blue 
lever.
10Hold the arm, and then carefully 
pull out the transfer belt unit.

11Prepare a new transfer belt unit.
Be careful not to touch 
the surface of the belt.
Do not remove the blue 
lever.
12Remove all packing tape from 
the new transfer belt unit.
13Remove the protective cover 
from the new transfer belt unit.
14Insert the new transfer belt unit 
along the rails.

15Close the left-side cover.
16Install the output tray.
17From the right door side, tighten 
the screws to secure the transfer 
belt unit.
