Tools and Calendar 199 Unpair From a Bluetooth Device 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch . 2. If Bluetooth is off, touch the Bluetooth On/Off switch to turn it on 3. Touch Bluetooth . The Bluetooth screen opens. 4. In the Paired phones section, touch next to the phone to unpair. 5. Touch Unpair . Send Information Using Bluetooth You can use Bluetooth to transfer information between your phone and another Bluetooth - enabled phone such as a phone or notebook computer. The first time you transfer information between your phone and another phone, you need to enter or confirm a security passcode. After that, your phone and the other phone are paired, and you will not need to exchange passcodes to transfer information in the future. Important : Before you begin, set the receiving phone to discoverable mode. You may also need to set it to “ Receive Beams” or “Receive Files.” Refer to the phone’ s documentation for instructions on receiving information over Bluetooth. You can send the following types of information, depending on the phone you are sending to: 1. On your phone, open the application that contains the information or file you want to send. 2. Follow the steps for the type of item you want to send: Contact 1. In the People application, touch a contact to view the contact’s details. 2. Touch , and then touch Send contact . 3. Touch the down arrow icon, and then select Bluetooth. Calendar appointment or event In Day, Agenda, or Week view, touch and hold the event, and then touch Forward > Bluetooth. Photos or videos 1. In the Gallery application, choose an album. 2. Touch Share > Bluetooth . Captured photo or video After capturing, on the Camera preview screen, touch > Bluetooth . (Note that you must have first set a review duration in Camera settings.) Music track With the track displayed on the Music application’s Now playing screen, touch > Share > Share file > Bluetooth. Voice recording On the main Voice Recorder screen, touch > Bluetooth. Browser On a webpage you want to share, touch > Share page > Bluetooth. While viewing a Web page in Reading mode, touch >
Tools and Calendar 200 Bluetooth. 3. Turn Bluetooth on and pair with the receiving phone, if you ’re asked to do so. 4. On the receiving phone, accept the file. Where Sent Information is Saved When you send information from your phone using Bluetooth, the location where it ’s saved depends on the type of information and the receiving phone. If you send a calendar event or contact, it is normally added directly to the corresponding application on the receiving phone. For example, if you send a calendar event to a compatible phone, t he event is shown in that phone’ s calendar application. If you send another file type to a Windows computer, it is normally saved in the Bluetooth Exchange folder within your personal document folders. On Windows XP, the path may be: C: \Documents and Settings\[your username] \My Documents \Bluetooth Exchange On Windows Vista, the path may be: C: \Users \[your username] \Documents On Windows 7, the path may be: C: \Users \[your username] \My Documents \Bluetooth Exchange Folder If you send a file to another phone, the saved location may depend on the file type. For example, if you send an image file to another wireless phone, it may be saved in a folder named “Images. ” Recei ve Information Using Bluetooth Your phone lets you receive various files with Bluetooth, including photos, music tracks, contact info, calendar events, and documents such as PDFs. Important: Refer to the phone’s documentation for instructions on sending information over Bluetooth. 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch . 2. If Bluetooth is off, touch the Bluetooth On/Off switch to turn it on 3. Touch Bluetooth . The Bluetooth screen opens. 4. Touch your phone’ s Bluetooth name near the top of the screen to make your phone visible to nearby Bluetooth phones. 5. On the sending phone, send one or more files to your phone. 6. If asked, accept the pairing request on your phone and the receiving phone. Also, you may be prompted to enter the same passcode or confirm the auto- generated passcode on both phone s.

When your phone receives a file transfer request notification, slide the Notifications panel down, touch the incoming file notification, and then t ouch Accept . 9. When a file is transferred, a download notification is displayed. Slide the Notifications panel down, and then touch the relevant notification. When you open a received file, w hat happens next depends on the file type: Media files and documents are usually opened directly in a compatible application. For example, if you open a music track, it starts playing in the Music application. For a vCalendar file, select the calendar where you want to save the event, and then touch Import . The vCalendar is added to y our Calendar events. (For more information, see Calendar ) For a vCard contact file, you can choose to import one, several, or all of those contacts to your contacts list. Use Bluetooth FTP Server Bluetooth FTP Server allows other phones with Bluetooth FTP profiles to view, access, copy, and delete files from your phone’s storage . To use Bluetooth FTP Server, you need to have a microSD card installed in your phone. 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then touch . 2. If Bluetooth is off, touch the Bluetooth On/Off switch to turn it on 3. Touch Bluetooth . The Bluetooth screen opens. 4. Touch > Advanced, and then s elect the FTP Server check button. 5. Pair your phone with the other Bluetooth phone that you will allow access to your phone’ s storage . For more information about Bluetooth pairing, see Connect a Bluetooth Headset or Car Kit . 6. When the other phone attempts to access your phone’s storage , a Bluetooth A uthorization Request appears on the screen. T ouch Accept . The contents of your phone’ s storage appear on the other phone’ s screen. Share Content with Android Beam With built-in NFC (near field communication) on your phone, you can share content to someone’ s mobile phone in an instant. Beam a Web page you’ re viewing, contact information, and more by just holding your phone and the other phone back to back.
Tools and Calendar 202 NFC Antenna Location Here is the location of the NFC antenna on your phone (dotted line). When exchanging information using NFC, make sure that the phone’s back panel is very close to the other NFC device. Turn NFC and Android Beam O n 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch . 2. Under Wireless & Networks, touch More . 3. Select the NFC option, and then touch Android Beam. 4. Touch the Android Beam On/Off switch. Beam C ontent Make sure that both phones are unlocked and have NFC and Android Beam turned on. 1. While viewing the content that you want to share, hold your phone and the other phone back to back. When the phones connect, you’ ll hear a sound and both phones will vibrate slightly. 2. Touch the screen. The shared content appears on the other phone’ s screen. microSD Card You can purchase a microSDTM (Secure Digital) memory card and install it into your phone so you can store more images, videos, music, documents, and voice data. Important : Make sure your battery is fully charged before using the microSD card. Your data may become damaged or unusable i f the battery runs out while using the microSD card.

Insert the microSD Card Remove the microSD Card Check the microSD Card Memory Erase the microSD Card Unmount the microSD Card Copy Files to or from the microSD Card Insert the microSD Card Here are the steps for inserting the microSD card. 1. Turn off the phone. 2. Lift the back cover from the notch at the top of the phone. 3. Insert the microSD card fully into the slot. 4. Replace the back cover. 5. Turn on the phone. Remove the microSD Card Here are the steps for removing the microSD card. 1. Turn off the phone.
Tools and Calendar 204 2. Lift the back cover from the notch at the top of the phone. 3. Gently pull the microSD card from the slot. 4. Re place the microSD card and the back cover. Check the microSD Card Memory Determine how much space you have lef t on your microSD card by checking its memory. Open the Notifications panel, and then touch > Storage. The total and available memory space will be displayed. Erase the microSD Card Erasing the microSD card permanently removes all files stored on it . Note: When you erase the microSD card, the files CANNOT be retrieved. To prevent the loss of important data, please check the contents before you erase the card. 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch > Storage. 2. Under Storage card, touch Unmount SD card. 3. Touch Erase storage card > Erase storage card > Erase everything. Unmount the microSD Card When you need to remove the microSD card while the phone is on, you must first unmount the microSD card . This prevent s corrupting the data stored on it or damaging the microSD card. C lose all running applications on your phone and save any data before you unmount the microSD card . 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch > Storage. 2. Under Storage card, touch Unmount storage card. 3. Remove the microSD card. See Remove the microSD Card.
Tools and Calendar 205 Copy Files to or from the microSD Card You can copy your music, photos, and other files to the storage card. 1. Connect your phone to your computer using the supplied USB cable. 2. On the Choose a connection type screen, select Disk drive, and then touch Done. On your computer, t he storage card is recognized as a removable disk drive . 3. Navigate to the removable disk drive and open it. 4. Do one of the following: Copy the files from the computer to the storage card’ s root folder. Copy the files from the storage card to a folder in your computer. 5. After copying the files, unmount the removable disk drive (that is, your connected phone) as required by your computer ’s operating system to safely remove your phone. 6. Do one of the following: Disconnect your phone from the computer. If you want to keep your phone connected to the computer but want it to be able to access the storage card, open the Notifications panel, touch Disk drive , select an option except Disk drive, and then touch Done. Note : The phone will not recognize the microSD card when it is connected to a computer as a disk drive. You will not be able to use some phone applications that need access to the microSD card. Update Your Phone From time to time, updates may become available for your phone . You can download and apply updates through the ( Settings ) > System updates menu. Update Your Phone Firmware Update the Operating System Update Your Profile Update Your PRL Update Your Phone Firmware You can update your phone’s software using the Firmware update option. Updating your phone firmware will erase all user data from your phone. You must back up all critical information before updating your phone firmware. Back Up All Data Prior to Update To back up your Gmail information:
Tools and Calendar 206 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch > Accounts & sync. 2. Do any of the following: Turn on the Auto-sync option. When Auto-sync is on, Gmail email, Calendar, and Contacts automatically synchronize whenever a change is made. Touch Google , select the ite ms you want to synchronize, and then touch Sync now . To back up your Exchange ActiveSync information: 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch > Accounts & sync. 2. Do either of the following: Turn on the Auto-sync option. When Auto-sync is on, your Exc hange ActiveSync email, contacts, and calendar automatically synchronize whenever a change is made. Touch Exchange ActiveSync, select the items you want to synchronize, and then t ouch Sync now . To back up stored text messages: See Back Up and Restore Your Text Messages . To back up your Google applications: Applications you’ ve purchased from Google Play are reloaded remotely and can be re -installed after the update is applied. After the update, make sure t hat you add your Google Account on the phone . 1. Touch > > Play Store . 2. Touch > My Apps. 3. Scroll through the list of previously downloaded Google applications and choose the one you wish to reinstall. 4. Follow onscreen instructions. As an added precaution, to preserve any data on your microSD card, please remove it from your phone before you perform an update. Update Your Phone Firmware Once you have backed up all your data, use the Firmware update option to update your phone firmware . 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch > System updates > Firmware update. Your phone automatically searches, downloads , and installs any available updates. 2. Follow onscreen instructions .
Tools and Calendar 207 Confirm Your Current Phone Firmware Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch > About > Software information. Update the Operating System This option allows you to update the phone’ s operating system (OS) via an over -the -air connection. 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch > System updates . 2. Touch HTC software update > Check now . 3. Follow onscreen instructions to download and install any available updates. Update Your Profile This option allows you to automatically update your online user profile information. If you choose to change your user name and select a new one online, you must then update the user name on your phone. 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch > System updates . 2. Touch Update profile and follow onscreen instructions. Note : If your data services or account syncing ever seems to go out unexpectedly, use this feature to reconnect with the network. Update Your PRL This option allows you to automatically download and update the PRL (preferred roaming list). 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch > System updates . 2. Touch Update PRL and follow onscreen instructions.
