Note : Your phone’ s wireless network may not show up in the list of available networks immediately. Wait for a moment and then refresh the list to see the wireless network. 3. Enter the network key (if any) that you used when setting up Sprint Hotspot, and then click Connect . 4. Click Close . Windows XP Computer 1. Click Start > Connect To > Wireless Network Connection . 2. In the Choose a Wireless Network dialog box, select the Sprint Hotspot name (or SSID), and then click Connect . Enter the network key (if any) that you used when setting up Sprint Hotspot, and then clic k Connect . Manage Sprint Hotspot You can set the number of computers or phones or allow only specific phones to connect and use Sprint Hotspot to connect to the Internet. 1. Touch > > Sprint Hotspot . 2. Touch OK on the introdu ction screen. 3. Touch Manage users , and then set the following options: Select the Allowed users only check button if you want to allow only specific phones or computers to connect to Sprint Hotspot on your phone. When you select this option, this icon appears in the status bar every time a new phone or computer attempts to connect to Sprint Hotspot. To allow connection, touch Allow on the Manage users screen. Max. connections: T ouch to set the maximum number of phones and computers that can connect to and use Sprint Hotspot . Allowed users : Lists the MAC addresses of computers and phone s that you have allowed connection to Sprint Hotspot on your phone. Block users : Lists the MAC addresses of computers and phones that are not allowed to connect to Sprint H otspot on your phone. Touch an entry to allow connection to Sprint Hotspot. 4. Touch Done.
Web and Data 150 5. Select the Sprint Mobile Hotspot check box at the top of the screen to turn on the wireless router with your new settings . Turn Off Sprint Hotspot When you ’re done shar ing your phone’ s data connection, turn off Sprint Hotspot to save battery power and data use. 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch > More > Sprint Hotspot & tethering . 2. Clear the Sprint Hotspot check button. Add the Sprint Hotspot Widget Add the Sprint Hotspot widget to the Home screen to make it faster for you to turn Sprint Hotspot on or off. To learn how to add widgets, see Customize the Home Screen. Connect to a Computer Whenever you connect your phone to a computer using the USB cable, the Choose a connection type screen opens and lets you choose the type of USB connection. Select one of the following choices, and then touch Done. Charge only . Select this option if you only want to charge the battery while connected to your computer. HTC Sync Manager . Select this option to sync media and your data such as contacts, calendar, bookmarks, and other information between your computer and your phone. See HTC Sync Manager for more information. Disk drive. If you installed a microSD card on your phone, s elect this mode when you want to copy files between the microSD card and your computer. When Disk drive mode is enabled while your phone is connected to the computer, you will not be able to use apps on your phone that need to access the microSD card. See Copy Files to or from the microSD Card for more information. USB tethering. When you do not have an Internet connection on your co mputer, you can select this mode to share the mobile data connection of your phone with your computer. See Use Your Phone as a Modem for more information. Media sync. Select this mode if you want to sync photos, videos, music, and other supported files between your phone and a multimedia app on your computer such as Windows Media ® Player. When using Media sync mode, you can access the contents of the phone storage and the microSD card, if you installed one. Internet pass through. If you don’ t have a data plan or you don’ t have access to a Wi- Fi network, you can select this mode to share your computer ’s Internet connection with your phone. See Connect Your Phone to the Internet Through a Computer (Internet Pass -through) for more information.
Web and Data 151 Use Your Phone as a Modem Get online with your notebook or desktop computer at any time, using your phone’ s data connection. 1. Install H TC Sync Manager on your computer. To learn how, see HTC Sync Manager. 2. Make sure that your phone has an active data connection. For more information, see Data Services – Sprint 4G LTE and Sprint 3G Netw orks. 3. Connect the phone to the computer using the provided USB cable. 4. On the Connect to PC screen, select USB tethering, and then t ouch Done . Note : When you are using your phone as a modem, the USB mass storage feature is disabled, and you will not be able to use HTC Sync Manager . Connect Your Phone to the Internet Through a Computer (Internet Pass -through) If you don’ t have a data plan for your phone or you don’ t have access to a Wi -Fi network, you can still go online on your phone by using your computer ’s Internet connection. 1. Install HTC Sync Manager on your computer. To learn how, see HTC Sync Manager . 2. Make sure your c omputer is connected to the Internet. Important : Sprint recommends that you turn off your local network ’s firewall. Also, if your computer connects to the Internet via PPP (for example, dial -up, xDSL, or VPN), Internet Pass -through will only support TCP pr otocol. 3. Connect the phone to the computer using the provided USB cable. 4. On the Connect to PC screen, select Internet pass- through, and then t ouch Done.

Your phone comes with a 8 .0 megapixel camera with an autofocus feature that lets you capture sharp pictures and videos. Using the Camera Access Photos and Videos Wireless Display Movie Editor Using the Camera Whether traveling for business or fun, enjoy taking pictures and videos of your trip and encounters with your phone’ s camera. Launch the Camera Take a Photo Record a Video Camera Scenes Change Camera and Video Settings Launch the Camera Capture photos instantly, with no delay. Just directly launch the camera from the lock screen, even if your phone is password protected. 1. When your display is off, press . 2. Drag the Camera icon to the lock screen ring so you can start taking photos and videos right away. Tip: From the Home screen, you can also touch the Camera icon or press the Camera key to launch it.
Camera and Video 153 Use the controls on the Viewfinder screen to add effects, zoom in or out, and more. Note: After using Camera (or if you temporarily leave the Viewfinder screen), you still need to unlock the phone if you have a screen lock. Zooming Before taking a photo or video, slide your finger on the zoom bar to zoom in or out. When you ’re recording video, the zoom bar is always onscreen. You can freely zoom in or out while recording. Switch Between the Front and Main Camera 1. On the Viewfinder screen, touch . 2. Touch Camera . 3. Touch either Front or Main . Note : Some camera features are not available when you’ re using the front camera, such as zooming and face detection. Add Effects Use the available camera effects to make your photos look as if they ’ve been taken through special lenses and filters. You can also apply certain effects to videos. Choose an effect before taking a photo or video. 1. On the Viewfinder screen, touch . 2. Scroll thro ugh the available effects and touch one that you like. Tip: When you choose certain photo effects such as depth of field, distortion, or vignette, drag the bar that appears on the screen to adjust the intensity of the effect. Set the Resolution 1. On the View finder screen, touch . 2. Touch Image resolution or Video quality , and then choose a resolution.
Camera and Video 154 Select a Flash Mode On the Viewfinder screen, touch the flash icon to choose a flash mode. When using Flash on or Auto flash mode, the camera intelligently sets the best flash brightness for your photo. Take a Photo Whether it’s moving or not, clearly capture any moment with your phone’ s camera. 1. Open Camera from the lock screen or Home screen. 2. Just point the camera on what you want to capture. The camera adjusts the focus automatically, and continuously refocuses as you move it. 3. When you ’re ready to take the shot, touch . Take Continuous Camera Shots Do you want to take photos of moving subjects? Whether it ’s your kid ’s football game or a car race, you can capture the action. 1. On the Viewfinder screen, just touch and hold . The camera takes up to 20 consecutive shots of your subject. 2. After taking the shots, review your photos and delete the ones you don’ t want to keep. Ti p: Want to capture a lot more shots? Touch > Continuous shooting, and then clear the Limit to 20 frames option. Record a Video Capture high-definition video clips that you can later share or create into movies. 1. Open Camera from the lock screen or Home screen. 2. When you ’re ready to start recording, touch . 3. While recording, you can: Freely zoom in or out. Change focus to a different subject or area by just touching it on the Viewfinder screen. Touch the flash icon to turn the flash on or off. 4. To stop recording, touch . Taking a Photo While Recording a Video While you’re recording video using the main camera, touch to capture a still shot of your subject.

Frame your subject on the Viewfinder screen. 4. Touch to start recording. Improve Video Stability Lessen shakes and blurs in your video, especially when you’ re following a moving subject. 1. On the Viewfinder screen, touch . 2. Touch Video options > Video stabilization . Camera Scenes Scenes provide an easy way to override your camera’ s normal settings to suit your current lighting and environment. Use Auto and let the camera automatically determine optimal settings, or choose from a wide selection of scenes before you start taking photos. Improve Portrait Shots If you’d like your family or friends to look their best in your photos, make sure to use the port rait scene. It smoothens the skin in your shots. 1. On the Viewfinder screen, touch . 2. Touch Portrait . 3. When you ’re ready to take the photo, touch . Take a Group Shot Finding it difficult to make everyone smile and have them look at the camera at the same tim e? When you ’re ready to take the photo, touch . The camera takes several shots and merges them into the best possible group photo. Take a Panoramic Photo Whether it’s the Golden Gate Bridge or the Eiffel Tower, you can capture anything wide or tall in a single photo.

Directional arrows appear, prompting you to pan left or right in landscape view (or pan up or down in portrait view). 4. As you pan, a guide appears onscreen. Use this to fr ame the first portion of the scene you want to capture. 5. Continue moving your phone as smoothly as you can. The camera automatically captures five consecutive frames. 6. Touch to stop capturing anytime. The camera stitches the shots into a single photo. Use HDR When shooting portraits against a bright background, use HDR to capture your subjects clearly. HDR brings out the details of both the highlights and shadows, even in high contrast lighting. 1. On the Viewfinder screen, touch . 2. Touch HDR. 3. When you ’re ready to take the photo, touch . The camera takes three shots at different exposure levels and combines them into one enhanced photo. Shoot in Low Light Capture stunning images in dim light without using the flash. 1. On the Viewfinder screen, touch . 2. To uch Low light . Note: Flash is disabled when you’ re in this mode. 3. When you ’re ready to take the photo, touch . To avoid getting blurry photos, maintain a steady grip on your phone. You can also i mprove your photo after taking the shot by applying special e ffects like auto enhance and high contrast. Change Camera and Video S ettings Change basic settings or an additional advanced settings menu is available for camera and video. 1. On the Viewfinder screen, touch .

As well as changing basic camera and video settings, you can also: Change the review duration to set how long a captured photo or video will be displayed on the Review screen before the camera changes back to the Viewfinder screen. Automatically take a shot when your subject smiles (photo mode only ). Geo- tag photos to store GPS location in your captured photos (photo mode only). Set the ISO level. Higher ISO numbers are better for taking pictures in low light conditions (photo mode only). Automatically upload photos to a social network (photo mode only). You can set the upload frequency, select the album to upload to, and set the privacy level. Access Photos and Videos Reminisce on good times. Use Gallery to view all your photos and videos that are on your phone or your online albums. You can even: Add photo frames and apply effects. Trim your videos. Share to your social networks, photo sharing sites, and more. View your photos and videos on a big screen TV. ( Show on map is available when you ’ve enabled Geo- tag photos in the Camera settings .) Start a Photo Slideshow Share your photos in a slideshow complete with transition effects and even add background music. 1. Touch > > Gallery . 2. Touch a photo album. 3. Touch Play. During the slideshow, touch the screen to show the controls. Touch to set slideshow preferences. Watch Videos Play back and share your video clips on the Gallery app. 1. Touch > > Gallery . 2. Touch a video album, and then touch a video. 3. Touch the onscreen controls to control the video playback, adjust the volume, capture an image during playback, and mo re. Tip: Touch More > Select player to share the video on your home network. Take a Photo While Watching a Video While you ’re watching a video in Gallery, touch to capture a still shot. Edit Your Photos and Videos Do basic editing tasks on your photos such as rotation and cropping. You can also enhance your photos by applying effects such as high contrast, vintage appearance, and more. You can also trim your captured videos.
