    Save and Resum e Composing a Draft Message  
    While composing a text or multimedia message, touch   to  automatically save your message 
    as a draft.  You can resume composing a draft message.  
    1.  Touch   >   >  Messages.  
    2.  On the All messages screen, touch   >  Drafts . 
    3.  Touch  the message , and then resume editing it.  
    4.  Touch  Send.  
    Check  Your Messages  
    Depending on your notification settings, the phone  plays a ringtone, vibrates, or displays the 
    message briefly in the status bar when you receive a new text o r multimedia message. To 
    change the notification for new text and multimedia messages, see  Text and Multimedia 
    Message Options . 
     
    A new message icon (   ) also appears in the status bar.   
    1.  To open and read the message, you  can: 
       Open the Notifications panel , and then touch the new message to open and read it.  
       Touch   >   >  Messages, and then touch the message.  
    2.  While reading the message, you can:  
       Reply with a text message. T ouch the “Add text” box, enter your reply message, 
    and then t ouch Send.  
       Reply with a multimedia message . Touch the “Add text” box, enter your reply 
    message, t ouch  to choose an attachment for your message, and then touch  
    Send.  
       Call or save a phone number cont ained in the message. Touch  the phone 
    number, and then choose whether to dial the number or add it to your contacts.  
       Open a link in the message. T ouch the link to open it in the Web browser.  
       Send to or save an email address contained in the message . Touch  the email 
    address. Then choose whether to send an email, send a multimedia message, or 
    save the email address to your contacts.

    
      Forward a message . Touch the message (do not touch  a link or a phone number) to 
    open the options menu, and then t ouch Forward . 
       Check message details . Touch  the message (do not  touch a link or a phone 
    number) to open the options menu, and then  touch View message details . 
    View and Save an Attachment from a Multimedia Message  
    If you are concerned about the size of your data downloads,  check the multimedia message 
    size first before you download it.  
    Note :  When  Auto-retrieve  in MMS settings is disabled, only the message header is 
    downloaded. To download the entire message, touch the Download  button at the 
    right side of the message. For details, see  Text and Multimedia Message Options.  
      If there ’s a media attachment such as a photo or video in a received message, touch it to 
    view the content.  
      To save the attachment, touch and hold the multimedia message, and then choose to 
    save the type of attachment from the options menu.  
      If the attachment is a contact (vCard), touch it to view the contact information, and then 
    touch  Save to add to your contacts.  
      If the attachment is an appointment or event (vCalendar), t ouch it to choose the calendar 
    where to save it, and then touch Import . 
    Save a Text Message as a Task  
    Save a text message in your Tasks list so you can remind yourself when to reply.  
    1.  Touch   >   >  Messages.  
    2.  On the All messages screen, touch a contact (or phone number) to display the exchange 
    of messages with that contact.  
    3.  Touch the message you want to save, and then  touch Save as task . 
    4.  Enter a task title and other details.  
    5.  Touch  Save. 
    Reply to an Alternate Contact  Phone Number  
    When a contact has multiple phone numbers stored on your phone , you’ll see the particular 
    phone number used below the contact ’s name.  Keep in mind that your response will be sent to 
    the phone number of the latest message you’ ve received from this contact. 
    1.  Touch   >   >  Messages.  
    2.  On the  All messages screen, t ouch a contact (or phone number) to display the exchange 
    of messages with that contact.

     Touch  , and then select another phone number of this contact.  
     
    4.  Touch the “Add text” box, and then enter your reply message.  
    5.  Touch  Send. 
    Manage  Message Conversations  
    Text and multimedia messages that are sent to and received from a contact (or a number) are 
    grouped into conversations or message threads in the All messages screen. Threaded text or 
    multimedia messages let you see exchanged messages (similar to a chat program) with a 
    contact on the screen. 
    Protect a  Message from  Deletion 
    You can lock a message so that it will not be deleted even if you delete the other messages in 
    the conversation.  
    1.  Touch   >   >  Messages.  
    2.  On the All messages screen, t ouch a contact (or phone number) to display the exchange 
    of messages with that contact.  
    3.  Touch  the message (not a link or a phone number)  that you want to lock, and then touch 
    Lock message . A lock icon   is displayed at the lower right of the message.  
    Delete a  Single  Message   
    1. Touch   >   >  Messages.  
    2.  On the All messages screen, t ouch a contact (or phone number) to display the exchange 
    of messages with that contact.  
    3.  Touch  the message (not a link or a phone number) that you want to delete.  
    4.  If the message i s locked, touch Unlock message  on the options menu, and then t ouch 
    the message again to display the options menu.  
    5.  Touch  Delete message  on the options menu.  
    6.  When prompted to confirm, t ouch OK . 
    Delete  S everal  Messages  Within a  Conversation  
    1. Touch   >   >  Messages.

     On the All messages screen, t ouch a contact (or phone number) to display the exchange 
    of messages with that contact.  
    3.  Touch   >  Delete  > Delete by selection.  
    Note :  You can also  touch Delete by phone number  if the contact used multiple phone 
    number s throughout the conversation and you want to delete the messages sent 
    from a particular number.  
    4.  Select the messages you want to delete,  and then  touch Delete . 
    D elete a  Conversation  
    1. Touch   >   >  Messages.  
    2.  Do any of the following:  
       On the All messages screen, touch  and hold a contact (or phone number) whose 
    messages you want to delete, and then touch  Delete.  
       While looking at the exchange of messages in a conversation,  touch  >  Delete  > 
    Delete thread . Any locked messages in the conversation thread will not be deleted 
    unless you select the Delete locked  messages  check box.  
    3.  When prompted to confirm, touch  OK  to delete the entire thread.  
    Delete Several Conversations   
    1. Touch   >   >  Messages.  
    2.  On the All messages screen, touch   >  Delete . 
    3.  Select the conversation threads you want to delete.  
    4.  Touch  Delete . Any locked messages will not be deleted.  
    Back Up and Restore Your Text Messages  
    Back up important text messages to your phone’ s storage or to your email account. 
    Back Up Text Messages 
    1. Touch   >   >  Messages.  
    2.  On the All messages screen, touch   >  Back up SMS  >  Back up SMS . 
    3.  Enter a name for your backup file, and then touch OK.  
    Back Up Text Messages Using Mail 
    Important: You need to set up your email account in Mail.  
    1.  Touch   >   >  Messages.  
    2.  On the All messages screen, touch   >  Back up SMS  >  Back up SMS via mail . 
    The Mail application’ s compose screen opens, with the backup file attached.

     Enter your email address.  
    4.  Compose your email message, and then touch Send.  
    To res tore your text messages on your phone, open the email message with the backup file 
    attachment from the Mail application. Touch the attachment to open the Restore SMS screen 
    and then touch the backup file to restore your text messages.  
    Restore Text Messages 
    You can only restore text messages that were exported using the Back up SMS feature.  
    1.  Touch   >   >  Messages.  
    2.  On the All messages screen, touch   >  Back up SMS  >  Restore SMS . 
    3.  Touch the backup file to import.  
    4.  Touch  OK. 
    T ext and Multimedia Message Options  
    You can set how your phone notifies you when you receive a new text or multimedia message , 
    or set other  messaging options. 
    1.  Touch   >   >  Messages.  
    2.  On the All messages screen, touch   >  Settings . You can set the following  options : 
       Notifications: Received me ssages 
       Received notification : Select this option if you want to receive a notification in 
    the status bar when a new text or multimedia message arrives.  
       Play notification sound : If you want the phone to ring when a new message 
    arrives, select this option.  
       Notification sound : Select a ringtone that is specific to new text and multimedia 
    messages. Note that the ringtone briefly plays when selected.  
       Vibrate : Select this option if you want the phone to vibrate when a new text or 
    multimedia message arrives.  
       Notification  preview: Select to display the sender and message preview on the 
    lock screen and status bar.  
       Notifications: Sent messages 
      Sent notification: Select this option if you want to receive a notification in the 
    status bar when a message is sent succ essfully. 
       Failure notification : Select this option if you want to receive a notification in the 
    status bar when a message is not sent successfully.

      Play notification sound : If you want the phone  to ring when a sent or failure 
    notification is received, select this option.  
       Notification sound : Select a ringtone  that is specific to sent or failure 
    notifications. Note that the ringtone  briefly plays when selected.  
       Vibrate : Select this option if you want the phone  to vibrate when a new text or 
    multimedia message  arrives. 
       Display message on screen:  Set your phone  to show pop-up notifications (not 
    just in the status bar) when your messages are sent successfully or not. You can 
    also select None  to disable this option.  
       Text messages (SMS)  Settings  
       SMS characters : Select this option to correctly display special accented 
    characters in SMS messages.  
       Multimedia  messages (MMS) Settings  
       Auto -retrieve:  Select this option to automatically retrieve all your multimedia 
    messages completely. When selected, the multimedia message header plus the 
    message body and attachments will automatically download to your phone. If you 
    clear this check box, only the multimedia message header will be retrieved and 
    shown in your All messages screen.  
       Roaming auto- retrieve: Automatically retrieve al l your messages completely 
    when roaming. This may incur significant phone charges.  
       Maximum message size: Set the maximum file size of a multimedia message. 
    The multimedia message will not be sent out if it exceeds the file size set here.  
       Attachment storage : Select the storage where you want to save multimedia 
    message attachments . 
       Connection settings: View various connection settings such as the connection 
    name and server address.  
       General:  Recipient list settings  
       Show sent message history : Include the sent message history when searching 
    for a message recipient.  
       Show call history : Include the Call history when searching for a message 
    recipient.  
       Show email address: Include email addresses when searching for a message 
    recipient.  
       General: Message preview  
       Message  preview:  Set the number of lines of text to appear in the conversation 
    on the All messages screen.

      Delete old messages : Automatically delete older messages, except for locked 
    messages, when the set limits are reached.  
       Text message limit :  Choose the maximum number of text messages to store in 
    each conversation thread. (This does not include locked messages.)  
       Multimedia message limit : Choose the maximum number of MMS messages to 
    store in each conversation thread. (This does not incl ude locked messages.) 
       General: Signature  
       Use signature: Select this option to add a signature to all your outgoing text and 
    multimedia messages.  
       Signature : Touch to compose your own signature.  
       General: Message forwarding  
    Note:  Forwarding service may incur additional charges. Contact Sprint for details.  
       Forward to phone number : Lets you forward text and multimedia messages to 
    another phone.  
       Forward to email address: Lets you forward text and multimedia messages to 
    an email address.  
       Emergency alerts  
       Set up how you want your phone to receive emergency alerts.  
    Add the Messages Widget 
    Add the Messages widget so you can read your messages right on the Home screen.  To learn 
    how to add widgets, see  Customize the Home Screen.  
    Social Networking  Accounts  
    Stay in touch on the go with all your social networking accounts. Post updates on Facebook, 
    and Twitter ,  chat on  Google Talk , see what everyone’ s talking about from YouTube, and more.

    Facebook 
    Signing in to your Facebook account from the Accounts & sync settings or the Facebook app 
    automatically signs you in to Facebook for HTC Sense. Also, you may need to authorize 
    Facebook for HTC Sense to connect to your Facebook account.  
    With Facebook, you can:  
      See your Facebook contacts and their status updates in People.  
      See Facebook photos in Gallery.  
      Check your friends ’  Facebook status updates in Friend Stream . 
    Twitter for HTC Sense 
    When you ’re signed in to Twitter for HTC Sense, you can  see your Twitter contacts and their 
    latest tweets in People.  You can also s end tweets and check your friends ’  tweets in Friend 
    Stream.  
    Note:  If you have the Twitter app (preinstalled or downloaded from Google Play), signing in 
    to Twitter for HTC Sense does not sign you in to the Twitter app and vice versa. If 
    you want to use the same Twitter account for both, you’ ll have to sign in to both 
    using the same login info.  
    Friend Stream 
    With Friend Stream, you can share and get updates from fr iends in popular social networks in a 
    single feed.  
    Add the Friend  Stream Widget  
    1. Touch and hold on an empty space on your Home screen.  
    2.  On the Widgets tab,  touch All Widgets  >  Friend Stream . 
    3.  Touch the Friend Stream widget style you like and it gets  added  to the  Home screen  
    you ’ve selected.  
    Get Started with Friend Stream  
    1. From the Home screen, navig ate to the Friend Stream widget  and touch  . 
    2.  Touch someone’ s status update to : 
       Write a comment.  
       Look at their  album photos.  
       View the tweet. If there’ s a Web link shared, you’ ll also see the posted Web page 
    right below  the tweet.  
    3.  Touch someone’ s photo or name  to: 
       Check the person’ s profile details.

      Check the person’ s posted tweets. 
    4.  Touch   to display posts from a particular social network.  
    5.  Slide to the other tabs to  see more options. You can touch   >  Edit tabs  to customize 
    the Friend Stream tabs.  
    Update Your Status  
    You can use Friend  S tream to  update your status on one or on all social network accounts you 
    are signed in to.  
    1.  From the Home screen, navig ate to the Friend Stream widget  and touch  . 
    2.  Touch  . 
    3.  Enter your status update.  
    4.  If you do not want to  send the status update to all your social network accounts, touch  
    ,  and then clear the social networks to exclude.  
    5.  Touch  Done.  
    6.  Touch   and then choose what you want  to attach to your tweet or status update.  
    7.  Touch  Post. 
    Post a Message on a Friend’ s Facebook Wall 
    1. From the Home screen, navig ate to the Friend Stream widget  and touch  . 
    2.  Touch   >  Facebook . 
    3.  Touch   >  My wall . 
    4.  Touch  a friend from the list.  
    5.  Enter your message.  
    6.  Touch  Post . 
    Comment  on and Like Facebook Posts  
    Touch  someone’ s status update on the All tab, and do any of the following:  
      Touch  a photo or the album name shown in the status update to view and comment  on 
    the album photos using the Gallery app.  
      Touch  Like  to like the person ’s status update.  
      Touch  the text box, and then enter what you think about the person’ s status update.  
    Check In to a  Place  
    Let your Facebook friends know where you are by checking in to a place.  In order to find your 
    location, y ou need to enable location sources in   ( Settings)  >  Location.

     From the Home screen, navig ate to the Friend Stream widget  and touch  . 
    2.  Go to the Locations tab, and then t ouch . 
    3.  Touch  a place from the list.  
    4.  Touch  Check in.  
    5.  Add your status message and even tag the friends you’ re with. 
    6.  Touch  Check in.  
    Tweet in Friend Stream  
    1. From the Home screen, navig ate to the Friend Stream widget  and touch  . 
    2.  Touch   >  Twitter for HTC Sense.  
    3.  Touch  . 
    4.  Enter your tweet.  
    5.  Touch   or    to add a picture or your current location t o your tweet. 
    6.  Touch  Post . 
    Search  for Twitter  Users to F ollow 
    1. From the Home screen, navig ate to the Friend Stream widget  and touch  . 
    2.  Touch   >  Twitter for HTC Sense.  
    3.  On any of the tabs,  touch . 
    4.  Enter  a Twitter name in the search box.  
    5.  Touch  . 
    6.  In the search results, touch  the Twitter user you want to follow.  
    7.  Touch   >  Follow . 
    To u nfollow a Twitter u ser: 
    1.  From the Home screen, navig ate to the Friend Stream widget  and touch  . 
    2.  Touch   >  Twitter for HTC Sense.  
    3.  On the All tweets tab, t ouch the Twitter user you want to stop following.  
    4.  Touch   >  Unfollow . 
    Send a D irect Message 
    You can only send a direct message (DM) to someone who is following you.  
    1.  From the Home screen, navig ate to the Friend Stream widget  and touch  .
