Select the contacts you want to add, and then touch Save . 7. When your group is complete, touch Save. Edit a Contact G roup You have full control of your groups. Change the group name, photo, or add and remove group members from the People app. 1. Touch > > People . 2. On the Groups tab, touch and hold the group, and then t ouch Edit group. 3. You can: Touch the group name to change the name. You can only change the name for groups that you have created. Touch to change or remove the group photo. Touch > Add contact to group to add more members. To rearrange the group members, touch and hold at the end of the contact ’s name, and then drag it to its new position. Touch beside a contact to remove from the group. 4. Touch Save . Send a Message or E mail to a Group Easily send a message or email to all members of the group. Note: You will be charged for each text message sent. For example, if you send a message to a group of five people, you will be charged for five messages. 1. Touch > > People . 2. On the Groups tab, t ouch the group you want to send a message or email to. 3. Go to the Group action tab. 4. Choose if you want to send a text message or email. Rearrange Your Contact G roups Put your favorite group at the t op of the groups’ list. 1. Touch > > People .
People 80 2. On the Groups tab, touch > Edit groups. 3. Touch and hold at the end of the group to move, and then drag it to its new position. 4. Touch Save . Delete G roups You can only delete groups that you have created. On the Groups tab, you can: Touch and hold a group you want to delete, and then t ouch Delete group. Touch > Edit groups to choose several contact groups to remove. Use People Widgets Stay close with the people that matter by adding a people widget for each of your groups and setting the default communication method when you touch the contact from the widget . Add a People Widget Set the Default Communication Method Get in Touch with a Contact Add a People Widget Select from several People widget styles that you can add to your Home screen. 1. Touch and hold on an empty space on your Home screen. 2. On the Widgets tab, touch All Widgets > People . 3. Choose the widget style, and then drag it to a H ome screen thumbnail where you want to add it. 4. Select the group you want to add as a widget. 5. Repeat the above steps to add another People widget. Set the Default Communication Method Choose the communication action (for example, call or send a message) when you touch a contact ’s photo on the People widget. 1. On the Home screen, go to the People widget. 2. Touch a contact ’s photo on the widget. 3. Touch the communication method you want for the contact. 4. If you need to change the default communication method, touch the contact ’s name (not the photo), and then t ouch Set default action .
People 81 Get in Touch with a Contact Use the People widget to get in touch with a contact faster. 1. On the Home screen, go to the People widget. 2. Touc h a contact ’s photo (not the name) on the widget. The default communication method you’ ve set for this contact will be performed. Send Contact Information Quickly s hare your contact card or People entries on your phone. 1. Touch > > People . 2. Do any of the following: To send s omeone’s contact information, touch and hold the name of the contact (not the icon or photo), and then touch Send contact as vCard. To send y our contact information, touch and hold My profile, and then touch Send my profile. 3. Select how you want to send the vCard. 4. Select the type of information you want to send. 5. Touch Send. Send Multiple People Entries 1. Touch > > People . 2. Touch > Send contacts . 3. Select the contacts whose contact information you want to share 4. Touch Send. 5. Select how you want to send the contact cards. Share All Visible Contacts You can share all entries that appear in your contacts list, regardless of the online account that your contacts sync with. 1. Touch > > People . 2. Touch > Manage contacts > Import/Export contacts > Share visible contacts . 3. Select how you want to send your contacts . Back Up and Restore Your Contacts Make sure you don’ t lose your contacts by backing them up in your phone’ s storage.

Select an account or type of contacts to export, and then touch OK . Restor e C ontacts Note: You can only restore contacts that were backed up using the Export to phone storage feature. 1. Touch > > People . 2. Touch > Manage contacts. 3. Touch Import/Export contacts > Import from phone storage . 4. If you have more than one account set up, touch the type for the imported contacts.

Gmail Email Text Messaging and MMS Social Networking Accounts Gmail You will need a Google Account to access several phone features such as Gmail, Google Maps, Google Talk, and Google Play . Before you are able to access Google applications, you must enter your account information. These applications sync between your phone and your online Google Account . Create a Google Account Sign In to Your Google Account View Your Gmail Inbox Send a New Gmail Message Reply To or Forward an Email Message Get Help with Gmail Create a Google Account If you do not already have a Google Account, you can create one online or using your phone . Note : You can also create and sign into your Google/Gmail A ccount through your phone’s Setup application. Although you need a Gmail account to use certain features of your phone , such as Google Play , you do not need to use Gmail as the default account for your phone. Create a Google Account Online 1. From a computer, launch a Web browser and navigate to google.com. 2. On the main page, click Sign -in > Sign Up . 3. Follow the onscreen prompts to create your free account.
Accounts and Messaging 84 4. Look for an email from Google in the email box you provided, and respond to the email to confirm and activate your new account. Create a Google Account Using Your Phone 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch > Accounts & sync. 2. Touch > Google > New . 3. Enter your First name, Last name, and then touch Next. 4. Enter your desired email address, and then touch Next. 5. When prompted, enter and re -enter a password, and touch Next. 6. Enter a secondary email address to help you recover your password if you ever lose it and then select a security question. T ouch Next . Note : When setting up a new Google Account , either on your phone or online, you will be prompted to add a secondary email address. Enter a second Gmail address or any other email address from which you currently send and receive email. This address is used to authenticate your account should you ever encounter problems or forget your password. It is strongly encouraged for Android users so you can regain access to Google services and purchases on your phone . 7. Select whether you want to j oin Google+ or touch Not now to proceed. 8. Read the Google Terms of Service, and then touch I accept. 9. Enter the characters shown, and then touch Next. 10. After your phone connects with the Google servers, select the items you would like to sync with your phone, and then touch Next . Y our phone will synchronize the selected items. Sign In to Your Google Account If you have a Google Account but have not yet signed in with your phone, follow these instructions to sign in to your Google Account. 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch > Accounts & sync. 2. Touch > Google > Existing . 3. Touch Next . 4. Enter your Gmail username and password, and then touch Sign in . 5. After y our phone connects with the Google servers, select the items you would like to sync with your phone and then touch Next . View Your Gmail Inbox All your received emails are delivered to your Inbox.
Accounts and Messaging 85 1. Touch > > Gmail . Your Gmail inbox then opens. 2. You can do the following on your Gmail Inbox: Archive, delete or label multiple conversations. T ouch the check box before the email or conversation. Then touch the onscreen buttons at the bottom to choose what to do with the selected messages or conversations. Display drafts, sent messages, and other labels. Touch Inbox at the top left of the screen, and then touch another label (such as Sent , Drafts , or your created label) to view its messages and conversations. Switch to your other Gmail Account . T ouch the current account at the top right of the screen, and then t ouch another account you want to switch to. Refresh the Inbox. Touch . Send a New Gmail Message Create and send an email message from your Gmail Account. 1. Touch > > Gmail . 2. In the inbox of t he Gmail account you want to use, touch . 3. Fill in one or more recipients . Note : If you want to send a carbon copy (Cc) or a blind carbon copy (Bcc) of the email to other recipients, touch > Add Cc/Bcc. 1. Enter the email subject, and then compose your email. 2. If you want to attach a photo or video, touch > Attach file . 3. Touch to send.

Reply To or Forward an Email Message Use your Gmail Account to reply to or forward email messages. 1. Touch > > Gmail . 2. Touch the email message or conversation. 3. To reply to the sender, touch . Or, touch and choose whether to Reply all or Forward . 4. Do one of the following: If you selected Reply or Reply all , enter your reply message. If you selected Forward , specify the message recipients. Note : Touch Respond inline if you want to interleave your new message with the received email. However, this removes any attachments or formatting in the original email. 5. Touch to send. Get Help with Gmail To find out more about using Gmail, in the Gmail inbox, touch > Help . Email Use the Mail application to send and receive email from your webmail or other accounts, using POP3 or IMAP. You can also access your Exchange ActiveSync email and other features on your phone. Accounts and Messaging 87 Sync Email Less Frequently Change the Email Account Settings Delete an Email Account Add the Mail Widget Add a POP3 or IMAP Email Account You can add a POP3 or IMAP email account on your phone and access it using the Mail app. 1. Touch > > Mail . 2. Do one of the following: If this is your first time to add an email account in Mail, t ouch Other (POP3/IMAP) on the Choose a mail provider screen. If you have already added an email account in Mail, touch > New account > Other (POP3/IMAP) . 3. Enter the email address and password for the email account, and then touch Next. Important : If you ’re asked to enter more email settings, ask your email service provider for assistance. 4. Enter the account name and your name , and then touch Finish setup. Add an Exchange ActiveSync Account If you synchronize your phone with your Exchange ActiveSync account, you can read, manage, and send email in the same easy way as with a POP3/IMAP account. However, you can also access some powerful Exchange features. You can add up to 15 Microsoft Exchange A ctiveSync accounts on your phone. You can sync with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack (SP2) or later. 1. Touch > > Mail . 2. Do one of the following: If this is your first time to add an email account in Mail, touch Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync on the Choose a mail provider screen. If you have already added an email account in Mail, touch > New account > Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. 3. Enter the Exchange ActiveSync account details , and then touch Next. Note : If your corporate Exchange Server does not support auto -detect, you’ ll need to enter your Exchange Server settings. Ask your Exchange Server administrator for details . 4. Select the sync options you want and then t ouch Next. 5. Enter the account name, and then touch Finish setup.
Accounts and Messaging 88 Check Your Mai l Inbox When you open the Mail application, it displays the inbox of one of your email accounts that you’ve set up on your phone. Switch Between Email Accounts 1. Touch > > Mail . 2. Touch the bar that shows the current email account, and then t ouch another account. View Email Messages From All Your Email Accounts You can view email messages from all your accounts just in one place without having to switch to different accounts. 1. Touch > > Mail . 2. Touch the bar that shows the current email account , and then touch All accounts. Email messages are color coded so you can easily distinguish which email accounts they belong to. Note : Up to 15 email accounts can be shown in the unified inbox. Refresh an Email Account Whatever your automatic synchronization settings are, you can also synchronize your sent and received email messages manually at any time. 1. Touch > > Mail . 2. Do any of the following: While in the account you want to synchronize, touch > Refresh. If you have several email accounts, you can refresh them all at the same time. Go to the unified inbox first and touch > Refresh.
