Web and Data 139 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch > Wi -Fi . 2. Touch the wireless network that the phone is currently connected to. You will see a message box showing the Wi -Fi network name, status, speed, signal strength, and other details. Note : If you want to remove wireless network settings from your phone , touch and hold the network name in the list of detected networks, and then touch Forget network. You need to enter the settings again if you want to connect to this wireless network. Connect to a Different Wi-Fi Network Follow these steps if you want to connect to another wireless network within your phone’ s range. 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch > Wi -Fi . 2. Touch Wi-Fi . The network names and security settings of detected Wi -Fi networks are displayed. Note: To manually scan for available Wi -Fi networ ks, touch > Scan . 3. Touch another Wi -Fi network to connect to it. Add the Wi-Fi Widget Add the Wi -Fi widget to the Home screen to make it faster for you to turn Wi -Fi on or off. 1. Touch and hold on an empty space on your Home screen. 2. On the Widgets tab, touc h All Widgets > Wi -Fi . 3. Drag the widget to a Home screen thumbnail where you want to add it. Virtual Private Networks (VPN) Add virtual private networks (VPNs) so you can connect and access resources inside a secured local network, such as your corporate network. Depending on the type of VPN you’ re using at work, you may be asked to enter your login credentials and install security certificates before you can connect to your company ’s local network. You can get this in formation from your network administrator. Also, your phone must first establish a Wi -Fi or data connection before you can start a VPN connection. Web and Data 140 Add a VPN Connection Connect to a VPN Disconnect From a VPN Add a VPN Connection You must first set a lock screen PIN or password before you can use credential storage and set up the VPN. 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch . 2. Under Wireless & networks, touch More . 3. Touch VPN > Add VPN network. 4. Enter the VPN settings and set them up according to the security details your network administrator gave you. 5. Touch Save. The VPN is then added to the VPNs section of the VPN settings screen. Connect to a VPN After you’ve added a VPN connection, you are now ready to connect and access that network. 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch . 2. Under Wireless & networks, touch More > VPN . 3. Touch the VPN that you want to connect to. 4. Enter your login credentials, and then t ouch Connect . When you are connected, the VPN connected icon appears in the notification area of the status bar. You can then open the Web browser to access resources such as intranet sites on your corporate network. For more information, see Browse the Web . Disconnect From a VPN Disconnect from the VPN when you’ re done accessing your intranet sites. 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch . 2. Touch the VPN connection to return to the VPN settings screen, and then touch the VPN connection to disc onnect from it. Web and Data 141 Private Browsing Add and Manage Your Bookmarks Save Web Content For Later Browsing History Download File and Apps from the Web Set Browser Options Copy Text, Look Up Information, and Share Open the Browser Open the browser and start surfing the Web. 1. Touch > > Internet . 2. Touch the URL box at the top of the screen. 3. Enter the website address. As you enter the address, matching website addresses will appear on the screen. 4. Enter your search keywords or a Web address. 5. On the Web page, you can: Touch a link to open it, or touch and hold a link to see more opt ions. Touch an email addr ess to send a message to the email address. Switch to Reading Mode Want to read an article or blog without distractions? Reading mode removes menus, banners, and backgrounds from a Web page. While viewing an article, touch (when it’s available) to switch reading mode on or off. View the Full Version of a Website While viewing a webpage, touch > View desktop site. Open or Switch Between Browser Tabs Open multiple browser tabs to make it easier for you to switch from one Website to another. 1. While viewing a Web page, touch > Tabs. 2. Web and Data 142 To switch to another browser tab, slide your finger until the Web page you want to view appears. T ouch a webpage to display it in full screen. 3. Touch to close a Web page. Private Browsing You can use incognito tabs to browse the Web with more privacy. Browser cookies are not shared and deleted when you close all incognito tabs. Pages you view in incognito also won’ t appear in your browser history except for files you download. 1. From the browser screen, t ouch > Tabs. 2. Touch New incognito tab . Add and Manage Your Bookmarks You can store as many bookmarks as you want on your phone. You can also access a convenient list of the sites you have visited, or quickly view the pages that you access most often. Bookmark a Web Page 1. Touch > > Internet . 2. While viewing a Web page, touch > Add to > Bookmarks . 3. Edit the bookmark name if needed. 4. To save the bookmark to a new folder, touch Bookmarks. 5. On the Add to screen, touch > New folder . 6. Enter a name for the Bookmark folder, and then touch OK . 7. Touch Done.

Tip: If you have set up Google Chrome ™ sync on your Google Account , touch on the Bookmarks screen, and then select the Google Account to view for your synced bookmarks. Edit Your Bookmar ks 1. Touch > > Internet . 2. Touch > Bookmarks. 3. On the Bookmarks tab , touch > Edit . 4. Touch at the right of the bookmark you want to edit. 5. Enter your changes and touch Done . Syncing Your Bookmarks with Google Chrome Create bookmarks from your computer ’s Google Chrome browser and sync them on your phone. For more information about Google Chrome, visit support.google.com/chrome. Important: Using your Google Chrome desktop browser, you need to sign in to your Google Account and set up Google Chrome sync. Be sure that you are logged in to your Google Account every time you save Google Chrome bookmarks on your computer. 1. Open the Notifications panel, and then t ouch > Accounts & sync. 2. Touch your Google Account . 3. Select the Sync Internet option. Save Web Content For Later Save Web pages to read later, even without an Internet connection. Some video clips in Web pages (for example, embedded YouTube® videos) can also be added t o the Watch list so you can quickly find and watch them during your free time. Note: Only Web pages will be stored on your phone. You need to connect to the Internet when opening linked pages and video clips. 1. Touch > > Internet . 2. On the Saved tab, do any of the following: Under Reading list, touch a thumbnail of the Web page you want to open. Under Watch list, touch a thumbnail of the video clip you want to open. Touch to see more options. Browsing History The Browser stores your browsing history and Web pages that you frequently visit for easy access. View Your Br owsing History 1. Touch > > Internet . 2. While viewing a Web page, touch > History . You can also touch and hold . 3. On the History tab, touch a time period to see a list of Web pages you’ ve visited. Clear Y our Browsing History 1. Touch > > Internet . 2. While viewing a Web page, touch > History . 3. On the History tab, touch > Clear all . View a Page That You Often Visit 1. Touch > > Internet . 2. While viewing a Web page, touch > History . 3. On the Most visited tab, navigate to the page you want to view, and then t ouch the page. Clear the List of M ost Visited Pages 1. To protect your phone and personal data, we strongly recommend that you download and install only applications you trust. 1. Touch > > Internet . 2. Go to the website where you can download the file you want, and then do any of the following: Follow the website’ s download instructions for apps. Touch and hold an image or a web link, and then touch Save link . Note: Before you can install the downloaded app, you need to set your phone to allow installation of third -party apps in ( Settings ) > Security > Unknown sources. View Your Downloads 1. Touch > > Downloads. 2. Touch the file to open it. Set Browser Options Customize the web br owser to suit your browsing style. Set display, privacy, and security options when using the web browser. From the browser screen, touch > Settings. Set Your Home Page 1. Touch > > Internet . 2. Touch > Settings > General > Set homepage. 3. Select the home page you want to use. Show Content Compatible with Adobe Flash Choose which Adobe® Flash® content you want to see on a webpage, and when you want to view it. 1. Touch > > Internet . 2. Touch > Settings. 3. Touch Advanced > Enable Flash and plug -ins > On demand. After selecting On demand, you can show the Adobe Flash content by touching on the Web page. Find Text In a Web Page 1. Copy Text, Look Up Information, and Share Once you have selected text on a Web page, you have several options. You can: Copy it. Search for it on the Web . Share the text in a new email, text, or multimedia message or in your status update on a social network. Select Text 1. Touch > > Internet . 2. While viewing a Web page, touch and hold a word. Tip : To select text in a link, touch and hold the link, and then touch Select text . 3. Drag the start and end markers to highlight the surrounding text you want to select. You can drag to increase or decrease the text selection area. 4. Touch an icon to copy, search, or share the selected text.

Web and Data 148 5. Select an option to paste the selected text in a new email, text or multimedia message , or in your status update on a social networ k such as Twitter. Sprint Hotspot Sprint Hotspot turns your phone into a Wi-Fi hotspot and shares your phone’ s data connection with as many as eight computers or mobile phones via Wi -Fi. When you open Sprint Hotspot, your phone creates a secured Wi -Fi network where you can connect your computer and other phones to access the Internet. To use your phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot, make sure that your phone has an active data connection. For more information, see Data Services – Sprint 4G LTE and Sprint 3G Networks . Note : To connect to your phone’ s Wi-Fi network, you need a computer with built in Wi -Fi or a Wi -Fi adapter. Set Up Sprint Hotspot Connect Your Computer to Sprint Hotspot Manage Sprint Hotspot Turn Off Sprint Hotspot Add the Sprint Hotspot Widget Set Up Sprint Hotspot You must first set up Sprint Hotspot before you can connect other devices to your phone. 1. Touch > > Sprint Hotspot . 2. Touch OK on the introduction screen. 3. Enter a new name in the Router name (SSID) text box, or use the default router name. 4. Select a network security method from the Security list. If you selected WEP, WPA (TKIP) , or WPA2 (AES) , enter a network key (password) in the Password box. 5. Select the Sprint Mobile Hotspot check button at the top of the screen to turn on the wireless router. When Sprint Hotspot is active and is ready to share its 4G LTE or 3G connection, the hotspot icon appears in the status bar. Connect Your Computer to Sprint Hotspot After setting up your phone as a wireless router, connect your computer to your phone’ s Sprint Hotspot and access the Internet.
