Gain
DescriptionB-Mode Gain increases or decreases the amount of echo 
information displayed in an image. It may have the effect of 
brightening or darkening the image if sufficient echo information 
is generated. 
AdjustingGain values vary depending on the probe; they are not 
associated with a particular position of the knob.

Focus
DescriptionIncreases the number of focal zones or moves the focal zone(s) 
so that you can tighten up the beam for a specific area. A 
graphic caret corresponding to the focal zone position(s) 
appears on the right edge of the image.

Auto Optimize (Auto)
DescriptionAuto lets you optimize the image based upon a specified region 
of interest or anatomy within the B-Mode image or Spectral 
Doppler in order to improve the contrast of the displayed image 
data. Auto Optimize is available in B-Mode, specifically in single 
or multi image, on live, frozen or CINE images, and while in

DescriptionB Flow is intended to provide a more intuitive representation of 
non-quantitative hemodynamics in vascular structures. B Flow is 
available on the 10L probe.

circumference, and enclosed area.

Coded Harmonic Imaging (CHI)
DescriptionHarmonic imaging utilizes Digitally Encoded Ultrasound (DEU). 
Coded Harmonics enhances near field resolution for improved 
small parts imaging as well as far field penetration.

lower frequency or shift up to a higher frequency.

Virtual Convex
DescriptionOn Linear and Sector probes, Virtual Convex provides a larger 
field of view in the far field.
NOTE:  Color Flow can be steered when in straight fire, but not in Virtual 
Convex.

DescriptionYou can widen or narrow the size of the sector angle to 
maximize the images region of interest (ROI). 
AdjustingTo narrow/widen the angle, press Scan Area and move the 
Trackball.

DescriptionFlips the image 180 degrees left/right. 
AdjustingTo flip the image 180 degrees, press Rotate. Linear probes do 
not rotate. 
Va l u e sThe image rotates in 180 degrees left/right. Rotation settings 
vary by probe and application. 
Rotation settings are returned to the factory or user preset value 
when you change the following: Probe, Exam Category, Exam 
Calcs, or New Patient.
