Precautions During Replacement
Always observe the following handling precautions when replacing consumable products.
For details about the replacement, see the instructions on the package.
❏Provide enough space for the replacement procedure. You will have to open some parts (such 
as the printer cover) of the printer when you are replacing consumables.

Imaging Cartridge
Always observe the following handling precautions when replacing the consumable products:
❏Installing a genuine consumable product is recommended. Using a non-genuine consumable 
product may affect print quality. EPSON shall not be liable for any damages or problems 
arising from the use of consumable products not manufactured or approved by EPSON.

1. Open cover A slowly.
Note:
When the optional Stacker is installed, raise the Stacker first, then open cover A.

2. Hold the handle of the imaging cartridge and pull out from the printer.
3. Take the new imaging cartridge out of its package and gently shake the imaging cartridge as 
shown below.

4. Put the new imaging cartridge on the flat surface and pull out the protective yellow tape seal as 
shown below.
5. Insert the new imaging cartridge all the way until it stops.
Note:
Insert the cartridge with the arrow mark on the top of the imaging cartridge facing toward cover A.

6. Close cover A until it clicks shut.
Note:
When the optional Stacker is installed, lower the Stacker after closing cover A.
Fuser Unit
Always observe the following handling precautions when replacing the consumable products:
❏Do not touch the surface of the consumable products. Doing so may impair print quality.

Warning:
❏The fuser unit can be very hot if the printer has been in use. Turn the printer off and wait for 30 
minutes until...

1. Turn off the printer and unplug the power cord and the interface cable.
Note:
If the printer has been in use, wait at least 30 minutes until the fuser cools down before replacing it.
2. Lift the cover B lever at the top left corner of the back of the printer.

3. Open cover B.
Note:
If the Duplex Unit is installed, remove the unit before opening cover B. See “Removing the Duplex Unit” 
on page 101 for instructions.
4. Pull down the two levers at either side of the fuser unit.

5. Remove the fuser unit slowly.
Note:
When removing the fuser unit, hold your hands as shown above, on the three tabs on both sides of the 
bottom of the fuser unit.
6. Push the tabs of the protective materials on both sides of the fuser unit, and remove the 
protective materials from the fuser unit.

7. Slowly insert the new fuser unit.
8. Lift up the two levers at either side of the fuser unit to lock it.
9. Close cover B.
10. Reconnect the interface cable and power cord, and then turn on the printer.
