Normally,	received	documents	are	immediately	printed.	
However,	you	can	specify	whether	or	not	to	store	received	
faxes	in	memory	\fefore	printing.	 You	can	then	print	the	
stored	faxes	at	any	time	or	delete	them	without	printing	to	
save	paper.

Restrict New Destinations
Ena\fle	this	option	to	restrict	registering	new	destinations	
in	the	address	\fook.	When	this	option	is	ena\fled,	you	are	
restricted	to	do	the	following.
•	 Specifying	a	destination	using	the	numeric	keys
•	 Registering	new	destinations	in	the	Favorites	list	or	coded	
dial	codes	in	the	address	\fook
•	 Editing	the	destinations	registered	in	the	Favorites	list	or

Using the Scan Functions
The	documents	scanned	\fy	the	machine	can	\fe	stored	in	a	computer	or	a	\bSB	memory	
device.	You	can	also	send	scanned	documents	\fy	e-mail	or	to	a	file	server	(MF8380Cdw	only).

Panel
You	can	scan	a	document	using	the	keys	on	the	operation	
panel.
 NOTEUsing the shortcut keys
The shortcut keys allow you to register your com\buter and send 
your scans to it with only a few ste\bs. For details, see “Performing a 
Scan Using a Shortcut Key” (→P.7-3).

inserted	in	the	\bSB	port.

•  Do not insert anything other than \IUSB memory device. 
Supported file syste\fs and \fe\fory capacity
Su\b\borted file systems and memory ca\bacity include the following. 
You can have your USB memory device formatted with one of the\I 
following file systems on your com\buter.
• FAT16: u\b to 2 GB
•  FAT32: u\b to 32GB

Folder and file na\fe\Rs that can be saved
Folder	name The	
“SCAN_00” 	folder	is	created	in	the	
top	level	directory	(root	folder)	in	the	\bSB	
memory	device.	Scanned	document	files	are	
saved	in	this	folder.
When	the	 “SCAN_00” 	folder	reaches	limit,	the	
“SCAN_01” 	folder	is	automatically	created.
Folders	up	to	 “SCAN_99”	are	automatically	
created	when	the	current	working	folder	
\fecomes	full.
File	name File	names	\fetween	
“SCAN0000.XXX”	and	
“SCAN9999.XXX” 	are	provided.	(“XXX” 	is	the	
extension	for	the	file	format.)
The	two-digit	folder	num\fer	is	provided	in	
the	fifth	and	sixth	characters	from	the	left.
A	maximum	of	100	files	can	\fe	saved	in	a	
folder.
When re\foving the USB \fe\fory device fro\f the port

settings before using the e-mail function.
