1Press [FAX], then press [Menu].
2Use [ ] or [ ] to select , then press [OK].

„Before Sending Faxes
The machine enables you to adjust the resolution  and scan contrast to suit the type of document.
zAdjusting the Image Quality (Fax Resolution)
You can adjust the image quality (fax resoluti on) of the document you send. The higher the 
image quality, the better the output quality at the other end, but the slower the transmission 
speed. Adjust the image quality according to  the type of document you are sending.

zAdjusting the Scan Contrast
Contrast is the degree of difference between li ght and dark. Increasing the contrast setting 
further blackens dark areas and whitens bright  areas. Whereas decreasing the contrast setting 
reduces the difference between bright and dark areas. You can adjust the contrast between 
three gradations.
1Press [FAX], then press [Exposure].

4Dial the recipient’s number (DESTINATION NUMBER) using the numeric buttons 
or coded speed dialing.
5Press [Color] for color sending, or [Black] for black & white sending.
z When the document was loaded on the Platen Glass:
(1) When the following message is displayed,  load the next page on the Platen Glass.
If you have only one sheet of  document to scan, press [OK].
(2) Press [Color] to send in color, or [Black] to send in black and white.

1Connect a telephone to your machine if you want to talk to the recipient before 
sending a document.
2Load the document in the ADF.
3Press [FAX].
4Adjust the settings for your document as necessary.
5You can lift the handset if an answeri ng machine is connected to the machine.
6Dial the recipient’s number using the numeric buttons or coded speed dialing.
7Talk through the handset to the recipient.
If you hear a high-pitched signal instead of  the recipient’s voice, go to step 9....
