271 Viewing the Images on TV 2Connect the camera to a TV set. Use an HDMI cable to connect the camera to the TV. X The TV’s input will switch automatically to the HDMI port connected to the camera. 3Press the camera’s < x> button. XAn image will appear on the TV screen and you can use the TV’s remote control to play back images. 4Select an image or movie. Point the remote control toward the TV set and press the / button to select an image. 5Press the remote control’s Enter button. XThe menu appears and you can perform the playback operations shown on the left. Press the / button to select the desired option, then press the Enter button. For a slide show, press the remote control’s / button to select an option, then press the Enter button. If you select [ Return] and press the Enter button, the menu will disappear and you can use the / button to select an image. Still photo playback menu Movie playback menu : Return : 9-image index : Play movie : Slide show : Disp. shooting info : Rotate Some TV sets require yo u to first enable the HDMI CEC connection. For details, refer to the TV set’s instruction manual. Certain TV sets, even those comp atible with HDMI CEC, may not operate properly. In such a case, set [33: Ctrl over HDMI] to [ Disable], and use the camera to contro l the playback operation. COPY
272 Viewing the Images on TV 1Connect the provided AV cable to the camera. With the plug’s < Canon> logo facing the back of the camera, insert it into the < q > terminal. 2Connect the AV cable to the TV set. Connect the AV cable to the TV’s video IN terminal and audio IN terminal. 3Turn on the TV and switch the TV’s video input to select the connected port. 4Set the camera’s power switch to . 5Press the < x> button. XThe image will appear on the TV screen. (Nothing will be displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor.) To play back movies, see page 262. Viewing on Non High-Definition (HD) TV Sets (Red) (White) (Yellow) Do not use any AV cable other than the one provided. Images may not be displayed if you use a different cable. If the video system format set on the camera does not match the TV’s, the images will not be displayed prop erly. If this happens, switch to the proper video system format with [ 53: Video system]. 273 Protecting an image prevents it from being erased accidentally. 1Select the image to be protected. Press the < 3> button to play back images, then turn the < 5> dial to select the image. 2Protect the image. When you press the button, the image will be prot ected and the icon will appear at the top of the screen. To cancel the image protection, press the < J> button again. The < K> icon will disappear. To protect another image, repeat steps 1 and 2. 1Select [Protect images]. Under the [ 31] tab, select [Protect images ], then press < 0>. 2Select [Select images]. Select [Select images ], then press < 0 >. X The images will be displayed. 274 J Protecting Images 3Protect the image. Turn the dial to select the image to be protected, then press < 0>. XThe image will be protected, and the icon will appear at the top of the screen. To cancel the image protection, press again. The < K> icon will disappear. To protect another im age, repeat step 3. Press the button to return to the menu. You can protect all the images in a folder or on the card at one time. When you select [All images in folder ] or [ All images on card ] under [x1: Protect images], all the images in the folder or on a card will be protected. To cancel the image protection, select [Unprotect all images in folder ] or [Unprotect all images on card ]. 3 Protecting All Images in a Folder or Card If you format the card (p.55), the protected images will also be erased. To protect an ima ge, press and quickl y let go of the button. If you hold down the button for approx. 2 sec., a vo ice memo will be recorded. If [8 5: J /K button function ] is not set to [Protect (Hold: Record memo) ], you cannot use the < J> button to protect images. Use [ x1: Protect images ] to protect images. Movies can also be protected. Once an image is protected, it can not be erased by the camera’s erase function. To erase a protected image, y ou must first cancel the protection. If you erase all the images (p.281), only the protected images will remain. This is convenient when you want to erase unnecessary images all at once. COPY
275 You can append a voice memo to a captured image. The voice memo will be saved as a WAV sound file with the same file number as the image. It can be played back with the camera or provided software. 1Select the image to which you want to append a voice memo. Press the < x> button to play back images, then turn the < 5> dial to select the image. 2Recording a Voice Memo Hold down the for approx. 2 sec. When [ Recording memo... ] appears, keep pressing the button and speak into the voice memo microphone. The maximum recording time for a voice memo is 30 sec. When you have finished speaking, let go of the button. X The [ ] icon will be displayed on the top of the screen. K Recording and Playing Voice Memos Recording a Voice Memo Voice memo microphone With [ 86: Memo audio quality ], you can change the recording quality of the voice memo. To record a voice memo longer th an 30 sec., repeat step 2. You can also record one voice memo right after image capture during the image review by following step 2. You cannot append a voice me mo to a protected image. You cannot append a voice memo to a movie. A voice memo cannot be recorded with an external microphone. COPY
276 K Recording and Playing Voice Memos When [85: J /K button function ] is set to [Play memo (Hold: Rec. memo) ] (p.330), you can play back a voice memo appended to an image. 1Set [8 5: J /K button function] to [Play memo (Hold: Rec. memo)]. Set this function while referring to page 330. 2Select the image whose voice memo you want to playback. Press the < x> button to play back images, then turn the < 5> dial to select an image that has the [ ] icon displayed on the top. 3Playback a voice memo. Press the < K> button to play the voice memo. Turn the < 6> dial to adjust the sound volume. To stop playback, press the < K> button. Playing a Voice Memo Speaker If the image has been ap pended with multiple voic e memos, they will be played consecutively. Erasing only the voice memo appended to an image is not possible with the camera. If the image is erased (p.280), any app ended voice memo will also be erased. COPY
277 The images recorded on one card can be copied to the other card. 1Select [Image copy]. Under the [ 31] tab, select [Image copy ], then press < 0>. 2Select [Sel.Image]. Check the copy source and target card’s capacity. Turn the < 5> dial to select [Sel.Image ], then press < 0>. 3Select the folder. Turn the < 5> dial to select the folder containing the image to be copied, then press < 0>. Refer to the images displayed on the right to select the desired folder. 278 a Copying Images 4Select the images to be copied. Turn the < 5> dial to select an image to be copied, then press < 0>. X The < X> icon will appear on the upper left of the screen. If you press the < u> button and turn the < 6> dial counterclockwise, you can select an image from a three- image display. To return to the single- image display, turn the < 6> dial clockwise. To select other images to be copied, repeat step 4. 5Press the < J> button. After selecting all the images to be copied, press the < J> button. 6Select [OK]. Check the target card and press . 7Select the target folder. Turn the < 5> dial to select the folder to copy the images to, then press < 0 >. To create a new folder, select [ Create folder ]. 279 a Copying Images 8Select [OK]. Check the copy source and target card’s information. Turn the < 5> dial to select [ OK], then press < 0>. X The copying will start and its progress will be displayed. When the copying is completed, the result will be displayed. Select [OK ] to return to the screen in step 2. You can copy all the images in a fol der or on a card at one time. Under [x1: Image copy ], when you select [ Sel.n] or [All image], you can copy all the images in t he folder or on the card. 3 Copying All Images in a Folder or Card The file name of the copied image will be the same as the source image’s file name. If [Sel.Image ] is set, you cannot copy imag es in multiple folders at one time. Select images in each folder to copy them folder by folder. If an image is being copied to a target folder/card which has an image with the same file number, the following will be displayed: [Skip image and continue ] [Replace existing image ] [Cancel copy ]. Select the copying method, then press < 0>. • [ Skip image and continue ]: Any images in the source folder ha ving the same file number as images in the target folder will be skipped and not copied. • [ Replace existing image ]: Any images in the target folder having the same file number as the source images (including protec ted images) will be overwritten. If an image with a print order (p.309) is overwri tten, you will have to set the print order again. The image’s print order information and image transfer information will not be retained when the image is copied. Shooting is not possible during the copying operation. Select [Cancel] before shooting. COPY
280 You can either select and erase images one by one or erase them in one batch. Protected images (p.273) will not be erased. Once an image is erased, it cann ot be recovered. Make sure you no longer need the im age before erasing it. To prevent important images from being erased accide ntally, protect them. Erasing a RAW+JPEG image will erase both the RAW and JPEG images. 1Play back the image to be erased. 2Press the button. X The Erase menu will appear at the bottom of the screen. 3Erase the image. Turn the < 5> dial to select [ Erase], then press < 0>. The image displayed will be erased. By appending checkmarks < X> to the images to be erased, you can erase multiple images at one time. 1Select [Erase images]. Under the [ 31] tab, select [Erase images ], then press < 0>.
